October Plotting & CR Post

Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for October!

OOC Housekeeping

• The Zodiac Network Post will go up October 1st, with a midmonth post going up October 15th. The game wide event log will go up October 4th.
• If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month.
• An AU workshop post will be going up October 8th!
• Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord for current players! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!

World Changes

• Mognet, a moogle mail delivery service, is now running in Kaisou!
• Maxim Tomatoes can now be purchased in specialty grocery stores!
• A small Ogier Stedding can be found within Kami State Park, disabling all magic of those who enter.
• A new rule has been implemented, new players must wait one month before inviting other players! This is so new players have a chance to get settled in and help out any friends they bring along.

Side quests
New Side Quests have been added for the month of October! Go ahead and sign up! If you haven't turned in quests for September gacha points, you can still do so until the end of the month! However, signing up for any September quests is now closed.

Town Events
The spoopy season is upon all! All over Kaisou, Halloween decorations and celebrations will be going on throughout the month! Buy a costume at your local Spirit Halloween, and join in!

However things aren't all fun and games with this season. Many cultures claim that this is the time of year where the veil between the Spirit World and this world are at its thinnest, and boy will that turn out to be accurate. Through the months of October and November, all NPCS will notice the unusual goings on. Meaning you folks who like to carry around fantasy weapons and have inhuman features are going to have a LOT of questions to answer.

Not only that, but tears, smaller gates that open up to smaller monster-infested labyrinths will be opening up more frequently throughout the month, with beasts attempting to drag unsuspecting victims into the spirit realm to be consumed. Team up to patrol the city or go exploring a tear at your peril. Those who had some unfinished business with the Spirit Realm may use this month to pursue certain targets. Please comment below and we will create a quest for you! Otherwise you can do a more generic adventure which will involve fighting monsters and saving folks before they get eaten.

It should be noted that the labyrinths that OUs entered upon arrival won't be available this month. Stay tune for November for that one!

Gate Event: The Qliphoth
October's gate event will be based on the series Devil May Cry. Players can volunteer to have their characters kidnapped by demons as part of a ritual. While they are kidnapped, they will have to face off with demonic versions of themselves - aka demon doppelgangers that reflect some of their worst traits to a magnified degree. Kidnapped victims will be expected to be missing from Kaisou for anywhere from 2 days to a week ICly, depending on how long you want your character to be nabbed.

Characters who haven't been kidnapped will of course be part of the rescue party! While there are things for non-combatant characters to do to help out (helping out at the safe zone, organizing a party to raise spirits) - true to DMC fashion, the rescue operation will involve lots and lots and lots of demon fighting. Bring your most extra weapons and come face the demon foe!

If you're interested in having your character be kidnapped, please comment below under the kidnapping sign ups! Before you sign up we Highly Recommend you check with Close CR first to make sure they're okay with this. Close CR in this instance would count as any character who would reasonably panic if your character went MIA for a week (family, roommates, significant others, etc). Remember: torturing characters is always more fun when we're all on the same page!

I'd like to request a cure for this curse as a reminder of their eternal friendship, preferably something his close CR can do together (or handwave, whichever, whatever)! Amal does NOT get to help. Whatever it is, he is banned because he'd make it too easy or fuck it up, and no one wants to be there when his luck runs out.

Mafuyu is, on the surface level, the perfect girl. A straight A Honors student, athletic, artistic with a knack for picking up new things quickly, and she's friendly, humble and sweet at the same! Why, back home she's practically famous for her ability and agreeable nature alike. And with her capabilities, came... a boatload of expectations that a childhood trauma drove her to meet, both at school and at home, to the point that she's been so utterly crushed by other's desires of and for her that she has no sense of identity, goals and dreams of her own or even a connection to her own heart.

Her sole comfort in the world is working on music, especially with her group 25 ji Nightcord de., but also on her own. Within the group she's primarily the lyricist and mixer, but has proven she can compose and even draw and animate her own music videos as well- well enough that most of her viewers believed her to be an actual professional musician. Music is something soothing and relaxing for her, so she treasures it dearly.

Having literally just arrived, Mafuyu is... trying to figure out what to even do. School is... probably happening? For the sense of structure and also so she doesn't fall behind on her studies, but there's going to be a cultural adjustment as well.

Event Plans: That's a great question. However, Mafuyu is a people pleaser who doesn't know how to say no! So like, if you ask her for help she'll totally help. While I do enjoy a fun kidnapping plot, I don't think Mafuyu has anyone to truly care for her just yet? I've got a lot to decide on but there's time, at least. WHO'S READY FOR SHADOW MAFUYU

Event Plans: Amal will be there to help break people out and kill demons per his reaper powers. For his CR however, he has been pursuing an answer to his predicament, and he needs a band for a quest. At least four people will be needed, and some trace of musical talent among them-- they have to beat the devil, after all~

About: Garnet is a cute rich girl who can see ghosts and magically got some Light-flavored powers during the dino plot. She hasn't remembered a whole lot yet, but she's slowly accepting magic as a part of her weird life, even if she hasn't come to terms with being a reincarnation of a dead girl yet.
Event Plans: I sort of fell off the earth during September with health issues so I hope to have her participating a little more. Rather than have her kidnapped (as she's too new) I'll get some useful regains and have her play medic. Spicy medic, but medic nonetheless.

Tsuna does have a secret, that he is the heir to a mafia family. But we're just ignoring that reality right now. He's totally normal. 100%

Event Plans:
I'm kinda thinking that Tsuna might be kidnapped.

I'd be curious to play him as a damsel in distress and it would be a good way to force a lot of issues that he's been ignoring to the surface. Especially since some opposite Tsunas could be really fun to play with.

This kid will absolutely put his foot down if you're being way too hard on yourself, or if you're pushing people away for whatever reason and hurting yourself in the process. That being said, he does have some implied issues with perfectionism and not being anywhere near the same skill level as his siblings when it comes to things like archery and music. He also tends to overwork himself when there are a lot of people injured, soooo....

Event Plans: He'll have a little of his healing magic back for the event, but it won't be what it used to be. This isn't going to stop him from helping set up a medic tent, or even just plain old organizing to get one set up. Neither will it stop him from helping rescue teams by going with them to make sure they have a healer/medic to help treat any injuries! Just because this demigod isn't a combatant doesn't mean he's less of a hero at heart. If anyone needs a combat medic, healer, or just someone to be The Mom Friend, Will's here for you!

Event Plans: So the funny thing is, if Waver had a nickel for every time he'd seen a massive abomination spitting out smaller abominations, he'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot. But it's weird it's happened twice. Needless to say, he's going to be having a very bad time. While he won't be getting kidnapped, it's likely he'll end up fighting demons, eventually overextending himself, and getting into trouble as a result. If I can swing it I'm gonna see about getting a ~special surprise regain~ to back him up, but help on the 'take care of yourself and don't get killed, idiot' front is more than welcome.

He is also a demon and slowly piecing together the memories of that past life he must once have lived.

Event Plans: Crowley wearing his shades becomes important this month! I might have him slip up around his normal family, have a bit of fall out from that.

I don't think being kidnapped is in his future unless the demons grab him, find out he is a demon too, and Crowley talks them into going out for drinks or something silly like that. Not that demons couldn't torture another demon but there will be Yoosung to look out for later. So if anyone needs a somewhat-good demon to find missing loved ones, be mistake for one of the 'bad demons' or just be snarky he will be free.

Anthony does have unfinished business with the Spirit Realm in that his mother disappeared when he was a kid and might have ended up in there but he still thinks she just ran off and abandoned he and his brother. Unless he gets a clue she might be in there he would have no reason to go looking.

I'm toying with the idea of giving him his demonic weakness to holy items as its a bad month to be a demon!

Later, she was picked to become part of the Reborn movement - artificially infused with the Force. (This is actually part of a canon event. :P ) Ultimately was badly injured, redeemed to the light by Kyle Katarn, and is now a newly-minted Jedi Knight.

Event Plans: Well, she makes a great rescue party, if anybody is in need of one - and I'll be happy to throw her at tears or go for a custom mission. I would also love to have her be kidnapped and face some vision of her past self - though she doesn't have any close CR quite yet.

A bit vague, for now, but that's in part because I'd like to leave a lot of options open to move her around!

No but to get specific to this Orpheus, he's a young man from a time and place not unlike mythic Greece and not unlike Dustbowl America. Kind, empathetic, outgoing, and a little oblivious, he's pretty much a golden retriever shaped like a human, though his normally boundless energy and enthusiasm has been tempered by the recent loss of his wife and the way Kaisou keeps throwing reminders of that in his face.

Currently unemployed and just kind of sitting around his apartment staring at the walls and having depression. It'd probably be good for him to make some friends probably.
Event Plans: Orpheus will not be getting kidnapped, as I'm not sure how to go about throwing his worst traits in his face without scaring him into never talking about his problems again!! He will be around trying to be helpful in whatever ways he can, though he's not a combatant and not very good at uh, most things that aren't music. He can be team mascot. It's fine.

About: The former Sovereign Duke of the Leicester Alliance (his tenure being cut short by the messy end to both the Alliance and his life), Claude is an outwardly cheerful and gregarious person who does his best to appear easygoing and nonthreatening as a cover for his more secretive, ruthless, ambitious side. While he does genuinely like people and at least likes to think of himself as someone who wants what's best for everyone, he's a guarded and mildly paranoid person by nature who tends to try to keep people at arm's length even as he does his best to earn their trust.

It's complicated, basically. If you want a friend who's got the kind of emotional repression where he'll listen to all your problems and offer support and advice while very carefully never letting on to anything about himself, he's your guy.

Currently doing a lot of community service in the form of archery lessons at the local youth center and tending the horses at the Kami State Park stables. Has a two thousand pound flying lizard named Aysun who lives on the roof of the Zodiac apartment building.
Event Plans: Claude will be getting kidnapped, so now's a fantastic opportunity to see some of the traits he's been trying to keep hidden!! You wanna learn just how absolutely 100% willing Claude could be to just straight up murder people to get ahead? Or about the war crimes? Now's the time!!
Anything else? Oh also Claude's got an extremely cursed bow that turns anyone who isn't him who tries to use it into a weird lizard. It's been nerfed by Kaisou magic to only turn people into chameleon-sized lizards and only temporarily, but if someone wants to pick it up when he drops it while getting kidnapped or whatever and have that bullshit happen to them this is also an opportunity.

Event Plans: Isabela won’t be kidnapped as she just arrived in late September and she is trying to adjust to being in Kaisou and helping her family out following the disappearance of her baby sister Mirabel but she will try to help out in any way she can. She will be able to regain her canon power level in time for the event, so expect tons of plants to be used against evil demons. She sadly can’t heal people via plants though.

About: 20yo, very soft boy who likes video games and cooking and animals and volunteering for charity, in college studying to be a vet but also taking classes on Pokémon (which he's finding he may enjoy more?)
Because of the manifestation of different powers after having died and revived in August, among other reasons, he thinks he's turning into/has turned into an angel.
Event Plans: His biggest fear rn is his loved ones being kidnapped to the spirit realm so I'm volunteering for him to be kidnapped instead! Look, I'm hoping facing his fears will help make him stronger. He needs some good character development. He'll be scared but he'll also be there to comfort and protect any other kidnappees (depending on how the event works and if that's possible, anyway).
His worst traits are jealousy/insecurity and possessiveness, as well as clinginess. So his demon will be those traits exaggerated in some fashion.

About: 16yo green-haired gal from a 27th century run by corrupt super mega galactic-size corporations, who runs with outlaws and mercenaries. She's sorta missing nearly all of her memories but she's cool with it, they're technically there she just can't consciously "access" them. The memories of her five other spaceship crewmates are also in her head and only accessible via her subconscious so yay! She's sweet and mostly positive but can also be angsty and emotional bc teenager. She hasn't been going to school but she has sort of been homeschooling herself, in a fashion, so it's fine.
Event Plans: She's gonna be rescuing!! She's got shapeshifting powers now (though not a great handle on them yet, she's mainly just been practicing with changing her hair color). She also has elemental weapon creation, and plenty of defense and weapons training (she's 5'2" and can take down a grown ass man in canon).

Event Plans: Moana will probably want to check out some of the tears that are popping up around the city, so she wouldn't mind teaming up with others to patrol! She'll also be willing to help rescue anyone who gets kidnapped and fight off people's doppelgangers. I would love for her to run into a bit of trouble with NPCs seeing her Mo'o form or features, though, especially in the heat of an emotional moment

About: Julieta's second-born daughter, Luisa is a strong and hard-working young woman who cares very deeply about her family and friends. She was gifted with super strength from the miracle granted to her family, and she's always happy to use it in order to help others. She gives a lot of her time and energy to others, but is starting to do things for her own enjoyment, and taking more breaks and time off for herself. She's also been possessed with the spirit of a panther, which increases her already impressive strength
Event Plans: Luisa is still hurting a lot after Mirabel's departure, so she's probably not going to be too active during the event. But if someone she knows and cares about gets kidnapped, she'll be ready and willing to help rescue them. Being so emotional might cause some problems with things breaking around her, though, so NPCs are likely going to notice the strangeness happening around her

So two thoughts, had I.

For Moana, Amity rushing in to try and help her pass her Mo'o form and other things off as a magic act IF it's drawing attention you/she wouldn't want. (Amity still being a little wary of ALL THE HUMANS because of stories Luz has told her about Witchfinders and the like, and she'd try to help since she 100% looks up to Moana.)

Event Plans: He's going to have a lot of trouble dealing with the fact that everyone sees an imp now. Sure, he didn't like that they thought he was a possum, but that was manageable, and it let him sneak around unnoticed. Now every human who sees him can clearly see that he's an imp and it freaks people out. It also doesn't help that he's a demon while demons are taking people, and he's also allergic to holy things. However, he will be ready to dive into Hell to save people, and will be bringing his guns and ice axe. He will be attempting the Homeward Bound side quest if anyone would like to help him with that.

Event Plans: She is going to help ALL THE PEOPLE. She only just got here, and was doing research in the library on kaisou and the rifts, so while she may not know more than other people do, she's at least caught up on some of that, and can go into crisis mode fast in that sense. Whether she's had CR with people before or not, if she hears someone needs help, she will do her damndest to do so, which could help open her up to new CR if people need a rescuer or a buddy for quests? (She definitely has a few quests she's going to want to try, and might even be good at, like Gnome Mercy lmao)
