July Plotting & CR Post

Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for July!

OOC Housekeeping

• The Zodiac Network Post will go up July 1st. The game wide event log will go up July 4th.
• If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month. Characters who apped in May will also need to check in.
• Information has been added about curses on the possessions & curses page.
• Starting July 1st, kids ages 15 and under will need chaperoning to go into dangerous parts of the spirit realm.
• Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!

World Changes

• Tetris can now be played on the Libra app.
• Big Bang Burger has opened up on Shopping Street. Enjoy some space pun food or take the burger challenge!
• Bubu Pharmacy is in Central Square, ready to service any of your medicinal needs.
• There is no Dog Park near the residential area. Do not acknowledge the Dog Park.
• The Knives Out! cutlery shop is on Shopping Street for all your knife needs.
• Seisho Music Academy Theatre can now be found in University District.
• Wanmin Restaurant is now serving authentic Liyue cuisine in Midtown
• Cactuar can now be found in Kami State Park. Watch for needles!
• There is now a horrible goose in Blue Fish Lake Park.

Town Events
With Kaisou being an American city, the city will be celebrating Independence Day. If you're in the mood, you can go to a summer festival, watch a firework show, participate in a chili-cooking competition, play with legal (and some illegal) fireworks.*

Since July is a water element month, the weather will be hot and extremely humid. About once a week, a severe storm will blow through the city. Expect constant lightning, flooding, extremely strong winds (but thankfully no tornadoes), hail, power outages, and storm damage. These storms are yearly occurrences and on the same level as severe thunderstorms you'd find in the southern and midwestern states of the US, so characters who lived in Kaisou for some time will be more used to this weather. And no, the storms will not help with the humidity.

*Mod Note: As this is a holiday that is tied to a country and may stir many complicated feelings for some players (and even more so due to recent events), please know that this portion of the plot is being presented as neutrally as possible with a focus more on the types of activities done around the holiday rather than any statement about the United States. Kaisou is set in America, so it was pretty much impossible to ignore the holiday. Since RP meant to be a fun hobby and escape for many players, Kaisou has always been set in an AU version of Earth from our own - and thus many political and current events have an unspoken rule of not being addressed or ignored (like the pandemic, for example). That being said, if you still do not feel up to engaging with this portion of the plot, that's completely understandable and feel free to skip this bit at your leisure.

Gate Event: El Nido
This gate event will have two sections to it! The first is very much meant to be a beach episode. You will get to go to a tropical resort that is run by a group of friendly anthropomorphic bird people. There'll be all sorts of fun resort-type activities for characters to participate in from playing on the beach to spas to an amusement park.

The second part of the event is an optional pirate adventure. Characters that ignore the warnings to stay AWAY from a pirate ship will get ferreted off on a several day pirate adventure that is full of danger. Deal with sirens, fight skeletons, try to not get killed by a kraken - boy what fun. Characters who go on this pirate adventure will be rewarded with a piece of jewelry that lets them breathe underwater as well as all the friends they made along the way.

Characters who are 15 and younger will be able to go to the beach resort alone, however they will need someone accompanying them if they go on the pirate adventure.

This month is meant to be a calm month after the chaos of May and June, as well as the upcoming chaos of August. Enjoy the beach, have fun! Go on adventure!

He won't be going on the pirate adventure but will definitely lay down some "what did you think was gonna happen" at the people who do.

He might get roped into the pirate adventure depending on what the rest of his CR decides to do. For the most part, Elliot is chilling and open to most things! Event Plans: Jun is working hard to repress everything he experienced from the June plot! If Elliot doesn't end up going on the pirate adventure, Jun will. Again, pretty open with plans for Jun. Edit: Jun will be an actual good boy for once and stay on the beach! Amazing.

About: A snarky flirty guy with more issues than national geographic. I'm sorry for him. I truly am. He has been dealing with some magic toxicosis bullshit, but it's been helped somewhat thanks to some of his friends. Yay!
Event Plans: Zelos will hate all the fireworks due to his enhanced hearing and basically hide away the whole weekend. Beach trip however he will fully embrace and take full advantage as much as he can. Even if all his friends go to the pirate adventure, he will not remove himself from that beach. You cannot.
Anything else? You better believe he'll be in his speedo. Again, I am truly sorry.

Event Plans: She's going to relax at the beach, maybe panic if family members get whisked off by pirates. But mostly just chilling at the beach. She will also be setting up the first Possession Support Group on 7/7!

But since its Danny, with his terrible luck, he is absolutely going to get pulled into pirate stuff. Expect pirate puns.

Fern is basically two minds smooshed into one body and has a lot of existential and identity issues on top of being a fighty himbo. His canon point has him as a villain, having helped Bubblegum's evil uncle in starting a whole ass war.
Event Plans: The extreme humidity is going to cause an influx of plants to be blooming on Fern, so he's going to be very flowery this month! I might have him go on the pirate adventure, I'll see how busy I am, but otherwise he'll be enjoying the beach and checking out the resort.

He has a magic emotional support bird who is simply the best.
Event Plans: Oh god he's going to try and arrest a pirate and wind up stuck on the pirate adventure and hate it. He's not a criminal you guys, he's trying to catch the criminals!!

He's been having a time, but at least he has dragons now!!! A good boy who's just constantly unlucky.
Event Plans: Probably??? Taking the dragons to the beach?? He hasn't really started getting too many memories back so I'd like to do something with that! Maybe pirates remind him of the Curse of Tears and he drags someone on an adventure to find it but it's all just a memory.

About: A half-reincarnation of King Arthur, Gray is a young girl who dislikes her own face. Preferring to hide it and herself in whatever way she can, she keeps to herself. It's not just from a desire to hide away, but in hesitation in how to deal with other people and their motivations. A naive, shy girl with a kind-heart she struggles in more ways than one.
Event Plans: Given she's from a detective series and loves detective/adventure novels she's 100% gonna go investigate those pirate ships. Please let her be an action girl on your pirating adventures.

About: He's a quiet, polite child that arrived back in May, but mostly kept off the radar of most of the adults in Kaisou until recently. He is also a sea monster, though he'll be attempting to hide this, but since water makes him change to his sea monster form and there's both rain and a beach adventure...he'll definitely be there.
Event Plans: Luca saw the warning at the start of the month, but because he and Alberto were recently talking about how sea monsters might look different in different places, he'll be worried that the tentacle thing is a sea monster like him and that people will hurt it. So he'll be going to the beach, wanting to make sure no one hunts the tentacle thing.

He will also be going on the Pirate Adventure if I can find him a chaperone, so I'm currently looking for any takers. If your character doesn't already know that he's a sea monster, they'll likely find out, though he'll try to hide it, but I just don't see him staying dry on a pirate adventure.
Anything else? With all the rain and storms this month, if you want CR there will be more opportunities for near misses with Luca frantically avoiding the rain. He will start carrying around an umbrella, but he'll certainly seem unusually nervous about the rain possibly hitting him.

About: He lived a normal life in Kaisou until he woke up one morning as a 2'5 imp. He's currently trying to learn to cope with the change, as well as process the fact that he keeps getting flashes of himself in another life, some of which are shockingly violent, with his other self seeming to enjoy the violence.
Event Plans: I don't have any firm plans with him. He might hang out at the beach, but he'll probably avoid going too close to the water after the warning at the start of the month, unless he sees someone doing something stupid and feels the need to stop him. If anyone would like to go on the pirate adventure with him, that might be a great way for him to accidentally end up brought along.
Anything else? Nothing much, although he does have a new pair of tiny swim trunks to wear to this, even though after the tentacle monster warning he won't feel safe actually swimming quite yet.

About: A college student with a focus on dance and dance-related things. Friendly most of the time, likes to consider herself easy for people to make friends with, likes making new friends herself. She was unprepared for any of this but has pretty quickly gotten enough of an understanding of it that she isn't particularly fazed by minor stuff now, though anything major still gets her wondering What The Fuck (the question of How no longer crosses her mind). For some reason, a lot of the weirdness that's happened directly to her is mostly that she's periodically and repeatedly found random stuff for no immediately-apparent reason; she's been keeping track in the nigh-futile hopes that she can find some sort of pattern that could possibly explain it.
Event Plans: Lita is definitely going to the beach. She will probably try to drag people she knows with her to the beach. If you have CR with her and want her to drag you to the beach, we can have her drag you to the beach. If you have CR with her and don't want her to drag you to the beach, she'll probably still try but she's not going to force anything if she's told no.

Currently undecided about the pirate adventure, though.

About: A highschooler who doesn't like to deal with most people too often, but still has a few friends that she feels comfortable enough with most of the time. Back at the beginning of May, she had a whole dragon head pop up on her head but thankfully normal people just see it as a witch hat instead, and while she's gotten used to it being there by now, she still doesn't like it. She doesn't like anything about any of this, to be honest.

She's started getting some of her memories, but so far she hasn't seen anything particularly significant, though she has seen some indicators as to what she was capable of and will at some point discover that she's at least partially capable of those same things here.
Event Plans: Completely undecided so far.

He sort of tries to keep that kind of thing in mind, but he's studying to be an engineer, so...he's very kind and outgoing, and he has a part time job somewhere. WHO WANTS A COWORKER.

• It is his birthday on the 15th! So he might have a little thing...if anyone would like to be randomly invited lmk, or if you want to meet him?!
• He suffers from terminal curiosity so he will go on the pirate ship sorry to everyone ever!!

About: His application is here! Minato is a very chill, relaxed dude who is possessed by a shinigami/death god. His price is that he has to eat/drink/sleep enough for two people and he is unable to refuse to hear people out when it comes to their problems, and is required to give a solid effort to help at least one person per day who comes to him with issues. This means he's a good dude to have around if you need help! If you want to play out being his price for any given day, please just let me know! I'm happy to set something up.

Event Plans: He'll be struggling to take care of his flowers with the increased heat and storms. If someone has a greenhouse or other shelter, he would very much appreciate the help. Other than that, summer fun, perhaps regaining some memories from a festival. He will definitely be visiting the Spirit Realm to relax at the beach. Whether he goes on pirate adventures is up in the air, depending on if he feels too bad about previous dangerous adventures and if he can get a guardian.

But in general he's a good-natured, silly, clever boy, if not a bit cocky and flamboyant. Lives with his almost-thirteen-year-old best friend Luca without adult supervision... It's fine. They're fine. Everything's fine.
Event Plans: Lots of sea monster-y opportunities this month. He'll be more of a homebody than usual in attempts to avoid the rain, so those who know him might find that odd, but he could easily be caught in the rain with or without an umbrella for any new CR, acting really jumpy and weird about it. Alberto will be going to the beach to check on this tentacle monster thing, though, to see if it's another sea person. He saw August's warning but feels it doesn't... apply to him... ahem. If he can find a chaperone, I'd love to send him on the pirate adventure! He's been discovered recently as a sea monster within his close circle, so things are starting to unravel... Alberto shifts forms into a fishlike person when wet and looks human when dry. But I don't see him staying dry for very long on a pirate adventure, sooo... lol

Alberto's also gonna be pushing some side hustles this month. He and Luca are saving money for bicycles and a Vespa and probably a million other things. He's gonna be advertising some skills he has for hire, which will likely be grossly exaggerated, as well as selling overpriced bottled water to overheated passerby in the city. So given how prone to accidents he is and how the weather's gonna be, I'm sure both these attempts to turn an extra buck will end in chaos and potential sea monster shenanigans.

About: Snarky fifteen-year-old Colombian shapeshifter with a flair for dramatics and a deep-rooted sense of selflessness, for better or worse. Part of the amazing Madrigals, his all-magical family (now including his buttery cousin!), whose numbers are dwindling here in Kaisou, which has thrown him for a loop... and by him I mean me. but we're back, baby!!
Event Plans: Camilo will probably hit the beach only once it's been deemed safe, but once he does, he'll love it... He's never been to a beach, so this will be exciting for him! He's absolutely useless on a pirate adventure but I'd still be down for it if he ends up on it, haha (I think he'd technically need a chaperone, though!)

Otherwise, he's spending the summer either at home, weathering the storms, or helping at his family's restaurant as much as his aunt will reasonably allow him to... He'll definitely be interested in all the Independence Day festivities around town, though.

Believed to be dead, his parents took him for a changeling due to his contract price and he ended up wandering until he ended up in Kaisou. Super-traumatized and his contract spirit is basically his only friend left.

Event Plans: She won't really want to head to the beach because she dislikes the sand, but it's possible she could end up there helping sell snacks for her adoptive dad or something like that. I'll see what I can do to bring her in.

Event Plans:
- Will attend summer fest. Don't ask him about history behind Independence Day, you will have your ear talked off.
- Beach... he is never leaving the shade of an umbrella. Too hot.
