Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for April!

OOC Housekeeping

The Zodiac Network Post will go up May 1st along with a log for high school related events. The game wide event log will go up May 4th.
If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month. Characters who apped in April will also need to check in.
The option to NPC for the May event is open until the end of the day tomorrow, April 27th at 11:59PM EST. If you're available for May and interested in NPCing, comment and let us know!

Town Events
The days of Kaisou are warm, beautiful, and full of beautiful flowers! Truly idealistic spring weather. However due to Shadow being the dominant element, the nights will see much darker with sources of light not working as well as they normally do. Not only that, but if you aren't in properly lit places the shadows will seem to play tricks on you and your sanity. Did that shadow just move? Did you hear something?

Unfortunately, shadows playing tricks on you isn't the only problem Kaisou will have. Starting May 6th and running through the conclusion of the Spirit Gate plot (so for a week or two), the vengeful spirit La Llorona will be wandering the streets of Kaisou, grabbing and drowning those who cross her path, NPC and PC alike. She can be fought off and exorcised, but no matter what she'll reappear in another part of town an hour later. Anyone killed by La Llorona will follow the normal rules of death.

On the other hand, high school students will have a myriad of end-of-the-year activities: the music concert, finals, prom and graduation! These will all be in their own separate log.

Gate Event: Land of the Forgotten
This month's spirit realm is based on a mixture of Mexican, Aztec and Mayan mythology. Characters will be traveling to the Land of the Forgotten, a realm that houses all things lost and forgotten, in hopes of putting an end to La Llorona's killing spree. Characters will encounter all sorts of dangerous creatures as well as the ruins of places from AU characters' past lives (no sign of OU worlds -- unless you have an AU in the cast).

In addition, this is the first plot that will include interactable NPCs! The Black Order, a paranormal faction, will be attempting to guard the realm as they don't trust you guys due to your (unfortunate) Zodiac ties. Characters can reason with the Black Order Guardians, trick them, or simply fight your way through. There will be multiple Black Order NPCs, but in order to keep the players handling the NPCs from being overwhelmed - we ask that you only tag 1 NPC per character. NPCs will also have a set limit of threads they can do at a time, though group threads are allowed if you want to take on an Order member in a team!

Finally, in order to stop La Llorona, characters can volunteer to take part in a deadly soccer game in which it'll be a mostly normal soccer game but the losing team will be killed (no pressure!). Characters will be aware of the risk of death when they volunteer, though they will be unaware that this death will be a penalty-free death -- meaning they will revive with all their regains preserved and don't have to be possessed (unless they wanna be). Though they'll remember dying so I guess they'll have that trauma. Characters on the winning team and spectators who attempt to intervene with the losing team's deaths will also be killed and have a penalty-free death.

Players can volunteer to be on the losing team specifically, ~~otherwise whether a character is on the winning team or not will depend solely on RNG for the sake of fairness.~~ Players who opt for RNG team assignment must accept the results of the RNG. Soccer is a team sport, so it does not matter if your character is an amazing athlete if the rest of their team aren't or don't know how to work together. ~~In addition due to in-game plot reasons, possessed characters will be unable to volunteer for the soccer game (though they can be spectators and try to intervene and die)~~ ETA: Upon reflection and to encourage volunteers, possessed characters will be allowed to volunteer! Their patron spirits/gods will just be cranky with them if they die, and it's up to you to decide if there'll be consequences from that.

ETA 2: Characters can now volunteer to be on the surviving team! Enjoy your survivor's guilt! (RNG and death team are still open!)

And like any character death, we highly recommend you talk with your close CR before volunteering to let them know of your plans! Tormenting characters is more fun when we're all on the same page!

There are a maximum of 22 slots available for the soccer game (11 characters per team, meaning a maximum of 11 characters will die not counting any who try to intervene). If there are less than 14 volunteers available (7 per team), unfilled slots will be filled by NPCs. If you wish to volunteer, it can be done in the comment thread below!
