Welcome to the January Handwaved CR & AU workshop for Kaisou! We're super excited to have you! These posts are to help encourage old and new players to make new connections and find potential CR while designing your AU or figuring out what your OU character has been up to. If you're brand news, you can check out FAQ page and the app page to get a sense of what's going on!

If you're a player looking to app a new character:
Apps are always open for submission and get done the first and third weekends of the month. So once you got a clear idea of what you want, feel free to hop over to the application page! If you're already in the game, feel free to comment to this post as well to make new CR!

A reminder that in order to app either a Black Order or POKEGO AU you are required to have been in the game at least 3 months with another character. If you are rejoining the game after being gone awhile, you can count your past stint towards your 3 months, but it's recommended you look over the plot recap to see what you missed.

Character Name: Vergil Vittore
Canon: Devil May Cry
Age: 35
Type: Paranormal AU

About: A fussy, overly-critical man who has moved to Kaisou from Italy while chasing more power after finding out about the world of magic--previously unknown to him--after touching a rather odd book he'd bought off a strange patron.
He owns an antique store that's the bottom floor of a large apartment building that displays more items than it sells. Its most prominent pieces--all of which are marked clearly for display only are things like weapons, armour, ancient maps and journals belonging to war generals and the like. There's also an expansive set of old books--mostly poetry, fiction and short stories--to peruse, and some are even--shocking--for sale.
He was a man who was unfriendly to speak with, much less entertain the idea of spending time with when he first arrived, but after two years of acclimating to the idea that he has a real family here--having met Dante, his brother from a previous lifetime, and a Son he'd never had a real relationship from the very same life--he's slowly getting used to the idea of letting others into his bubble.
Even if he has a tendency to be very uptight and terrible with words, sometimes saying things that come off as brash or insulting without meaning to.
It's okay, his partner Zulius is really trying his best to help him out of that habit.
He's also started a part time job at Cygnus Academy after his Nephew left the city for different ventures, mostly as the numbers man, but he's been convinced to substitute in on classes when needed. You can thank Waver Velvet for that.

Looking for: He's honestly terrible at making friends, as he tends to hold almost everyone at arm's length for a while upon first meeting them. However, if you're stubborn enough to stick around--or if you can find a common interest to discuss with him, he's a little easier to get along with.
Anyone with a taste for history, poetry, old stories or magic are people who can easily catch his interest, especially if you have stories to share or questions to ask. If your character has interests in the things he sells or displays, it's easy to get to know him. If you'd like to have met him at the academy or by being a patron of his shop, i'd love to discuss it. Pre-existing cr too, of course, i'd love to talk about anything involving his job or interests--sell him something, bring him something for his collection, buy something--talk about the fact that he has an exact 1:1 replica of the statue of David at the back of his store--he'd even go on adventures to stable gates with someone if magic artifacts or interests were involved.

He also won't admit it outright but he also loves fighting, now that his devil blood has fully settled into his skin. And would never turn down a challenge, so long as it's done in a safe place where noone else can get hurt. Though he probably won't fight anyone he's just met, he'd throw down with almost anyone he feels could defend themselves against his powers.

Zelos is rich and likes nice things, so he probably patrons the antique shop once and awhile, looking for nice things. He will be willing to chat and ask questions. He'll sure play up the act of a stupid influencer that has more money than they know what to do with, but based on his purchasing choices and knowing what questions to ask - Vergil might be able to pick up that Zelos actually knows exactly what he's doing.

Frankly, Vergil probably would find him obnoxious. I would not blame him.

one of those 'im going to be tersely polite with this man until he leaves'
but the more he visits and the more he shows he's actually sensible, he might actually loosen up a little and pick out there's more to the obnoxious red-haired man.

...he reminds him of dante so he's not too sure how much he'll LIKE him around though, even after he proves to be Not As Awful as Once Assumed.

Zulius obviously spends a lot of time with Vergil! I expect they have plenty of date nights- though Zul is aware how Not Social Vergil is, so he usually opts for quieter things so his boyfriend doesn't have a whole-ass stress breakdown about it. He probably drops into the Auguries for lunch too! Also Cyngus, seen as he's the patron there. Does he make jokes about the teacher seducing the wealthy patron? You better believe he does! He'd take Vergil on dates to museums, too. He loves one (1) tallass nerd.

i'd like to think vergil's gotten more comfortable with things as time has gotten on, which means going outside for regular dates isn't the chore it used to be for the old hermit
rather, he enjoys getting out of the house and having time with zulius between going to museums or even to some more colorful places that zulius likes. He's really trying to be less shy and awkward about having 'fun,' it's a process.

maybe part of him enjoys the hot for teacher jokes
he can play a small game like that, even if he'll likely lose the flirting game in the end :facepalm:

I feel like Bailey almost certainly swings by Vergil's shop, mostly just to look at the display pieces and ask Vergil about them. Historical weapons and armor are a big interest of hers. The maps and war journals are something she's more recently started showing interest in.

She is otherwise quiet which I imagine is appreciated.
