Welcome to the AU & CR workshop for Kaisou! We're super excited to have you! These posts will be made on a bimonthly basis to help encourage old and new players to make new connections and find potential CR while designing your AU or figuring out what your OU character has been up to.

About: Jun was born to some unknown parents, but got taken in by a really shady paranormal faction named Krusnik that is obsessed with possessions. Had a pretty rough childhood due to all that until he was about 11 and found by Abel, who took him away from those guys, adopted him, and they moved to Kaisou.

Since then Jun's spent the past several years adapting to living a normal life! He went to Kaisou High School and graduated last year. He's currently an art major at college and hope to one day be an animator. He's introverted and tends to be very tight lipped about his past, but he's still a pretty nice kid.

Also very into anime, likes to cosplay as magical girls, is an abuser of kaomoji i apologize \(￣︶￣*\))

Looking for: Classmates! People who know him from the coffee shop! Possibly cousins? I'd also be game if there's anyone familiar with him from his time with Krusnik.

About: Literally the only difference here is he isn't sure who his dad is and he's probably not half-demon. In his OU, he is well aware that his dad is a demon. Still somewhat cranky but overall nice guy with a weird bird who has a knife raised by his loving aunts (which, btw, are not blood related, his mom has no blood relations that he knows of Cat was just her best friend)

What are they up to: Zelos has been living with Ana and Adol and doing odd jobs for Zodiac as well as (ahem) male host work.

Currently he's slowly getting his canon powers back, which is actually awful because it means he's incapable of eating. He's avoiding telling anyone about this if he can help it though.

What are they up to: She lives with Zelos and Adol in a now kinda cramped apartment, and makes money by doing odd jobs here and there. She's a skilled tailor and seamstress, but has little motivation to actually focus on that currently. also Yuff I know you meant this as a joke but now srsly considers her taking up cage fighting for easy money

Currently she's regaining her strength and endurance, but next month I do plan for her to get more weird angel traits like many floating eyes and a halo she can't turn off -

About: Single dad raising his adopted son (Jun) and trying to live a relatively quiet, normal life flying under the paranormal radar. Abel likes to come off as a relatively useless harmless, goofy guy who maybe frets over others a bit too much and is aggressively cheerful and friendly. He definitely isn't possessed or trying to keep a low profile to hide him & Jun from Krusnik so dw about it,

Extremely desperate to get back to the big bad because without him he has no use and without a use there's no point in existing (insert 'cheerfully digging his own grave' scene here). Has a magic emotional support bird who is simply the best.
Time of Arrival in Kaisou: Early this month.
What are they up to: Hunter showed up, promptly fought Horse over the portal key she has, resulting in them getting arrested and Zodiac having to bail them out. He then proceeded to insult a lot of people on the network because he's a shit who has yet to drop the Golden Guard mask.

He's going to be working sketchy/dangerous jobs for Zodiac at night and attending high school during the day, and doing research on Kaisou, magic, Earth and so on in between. Who needs sleep? Not him.
Looking for: Teens his age he can meet at school! Adults who would be very concerned at the situation he's coming from because it's bad y'all! Potential friends he can eventually learn to be himself around! People to dunk on him! Fellow nerds and people who can explain the human realm and modern technology! What are they up to: Settling into Casita- will currently be dealing with the influx of his nieces and nephew. Trying to learn how to socialise with not-rats again with middling results. Started his own rat telenovela which he'll update every month or so.
Looking for: Anyone honestly. He's so deeply not used to people0 give him interactions to get better at it! He's accepted no one in his damn city is his own age so he'll genuinely talk to anyone, it's fine, it's fine.

Like a cat Zelos comes and goes as he pleases. I'm not sure he'd go to the Casita without an invite, but he probably sends random texts once and awhile that are akin to nightblogging like "isn't it weird we cook bacon but bake cookies?". These will only get worse next month when he loses the ability to sleep.

About: In his world he's the Warrior of Light, a.k.a. professional fetch quester and solver of problems, rescuer of cats in trees, etc. But if you scrub all that off, he's a 'reformed' thief from a tropical island who rebuilt his life from the ground up after fleeing captivity, and the exact kind of spoony... uh... dancer... that Tellah warned you about. He also has big honkin elf ears and he's covered head to toe in tattoos, so he stands out like a sore thumb in any crowd.
Time of Arrival in Kaisou: 6 months prior to the start of the game, so like last July?
What are they up to: He recently got a steady job as an exotic dancer (which... ok... technically he is, in broad definitions) and is on track to saving up for a bigger place to stay so he can stop smuggling horses into the apartment garage.
Looking for:
• As before, Amal couch surfs like it's an Olympic sport and doesn't usually stay more than a month at a time. So you're welcome to handwave having met him through that channel,
• or through the many, many odd jobs under the table that he's taken.
• He also does chores for Zodiac and is occasionally involved in procuring weird shit for people in the underground weirdo district under the subway (which is still creepy btw).

AU Occupation: High school student (senior, graduating soon) attending some college classes part time, planning to major in game design.
About: Adopted into a Japanese-American family, lived in Kaisou his whole life. Father is a prolific author (who later wrote a novel about Annwn, the concept/place) and single dad after an amicable but nevertheless difficult divorce. Not long into high school, Annwn realized some personal things and stopped going by An, opting for "Tsukasa" after the main character of an anime he liked at the time.

Despite sometimes having spats with his dad like every other teenager, Tsukasa excels at his studies. Hobbies include normal weeb things like watching anime, playing obscure indie RPGs, and MMOs.

Tsukasa is a bit of an antisocial grump, but it's because he's tsundere and very, very much an introvert. He also thinks the cool, collected edgy character archetype is the best and tries to emulate that, consciously or no. Unfortunately this falls flat when he plays cute boys in MMOs. At heart he is a good bean who just wants to vibe and do his own thing, but he has a bad habit of saying the wrong thing all the time because he doesn't have the right words (or enough words, really).

🗝️ Sora was raised in Kaisou in the same little house near the beachfront. Born and raised and he has never left Kaisou for his entire life. As much as that has made him a small-town boy he has big dreams about the future and hopes that someday he can save up enough money to travel the world.

🗝️ Although half Japanese he doesn't know the language. He was born to a larger family and is cousins with Tifa Lockhart. He lives at home with his parents and has recently finished high school at age Eighteen.

🗝️ Born to a talented family of musicians and artists it was natural for Sora to pick up something along those lines as well. He took to creative outlets online such as streaming and blogging and eventually became a Twitch streamer for whatever he feels like for the day. Be it video games, cooking, trying to build a birdhouse and failing or even singing. He has gained quite a decent following and helps his parents pay rent with his income.

About: Elliot was born and raised outside of Kaisou (Probably NYC). His dad is in the military and wanted him to follow his footsteps, but Elliot wanted to be a musician. Things got tense enough that Elliot kinda skipped town and moved to Kaisou where he enrolled in Kaisou University. Graduated early from the music program and is currently working at Kaisou High as a music teacher as he tries to get his music career going and figure out his future -- all while constantly internally screaming about whether or not he made a huge mistake.
Looking for: Students! Friends! Coworkers! People who knew him either growing up or during his time in college! Elliot is a very friendly person, so it's pretty easy for him to befriend people.

Likes reading and flowers and astrology, but dislikes PE, kind of shy and reserved but.....not nearly as complicated as in Canon.

I don't have much more than this, he's notably different from Canon because I took most of the terrible stuff out of his life.
Looking for: Would love classmates and close friends, maybe cousins or other relatives? Supportive adults. He's. Going to need a support system as all the Upsetting things start to come back.

She's cursed with unparalleled beauty that will literally charm anybody who looks at her, though she's lost that (for now.) Well, lost the magical charm part of it anyway. She still maintains her RPG stat system and the ability to look at people's status windows, so feel free to marvel at the ability to see your abilities in numerical value.

She still somehow believes that's she is a cis and straight dude, despite crushing massively on a guy and being extremely comfortable as a girl.

What are they up to: TBD. But probably mostly settling in, trying to find a place to crash.
Looking for: Give her a place to crash...! Other than that, she's very friendly and outgoing so she'll try to make friends. As a former salaryman, she relates a lot with adults who either work hard for a living or feel down on their luck especially. But she often makes friends with all sorts of people, from optimistic teens to edgy chuuni types to literal princesses.

Age: 16
About: A walking, talking heatsink who currently can't actually do the heatsink thing (but that's fine, she hated it anyway, please let her marvel at the fact that she can now touch people without hurting them, once she discovers that that's a thing). Her adoptive older sister is basically a jrpg protagonist and she went along for the ride, for better or for worse, and then she wound up here.

She has a natural intolerance for cold and becomes increasingly-uncomfortable or even pained when subjected to anything below room temperature; the closer it is to freezing, the more-dangerous it is to her. She deals with this mostly by wearing extra layers of clothing, and is basically never seen without a pair of gloves on.

Looking for: There's one silly thing that Amber wants to see happen eventually, but for now, Nina's going to need a little assistance with getting settled in and finding a place to stay, whether she ends up invited to someone's place or helped to find a place for herself. About: Emma's family has always been involved with the supernatural, and they've trained Emma well to keep quiet about it for as long as she can remember. Still, it's hard not talking about all of the cool stuff that everyone else thinks isn't real! She does her best to keep quiet, but sometimes things slip out. She's... she's not good at being subtle.

Also, it doesn't help that she's definitely been raised with "weird" (per the normie perspective) herbal remedies and crystals and will readily recommend those to other people if they need help. She's... trying? Probably??

About: So first, a note on the canon; currently it's likely to be borrowing off a fanfic, just because that fic allowed for more actual fleshing out of character (also regaining memories of a roadtrip through hell uncovering conspiracy is more fun than a two ep duel oop) but canon*ish* is also pretty likely. In the main series, Ka is actually a man. ...But they were also mosquito themed? And their thing involved actually delivering bug bites?? ZEXAL ONLY FEMALE MOSQUITOES DO THIS

And on the one hand, I could easily make a TransHeadcanon here, but on the other, Ka's natural appearance brings some unfortunate connotations if I do that. So CisFemale it is....

Now, the AU for Kaisou.

Currently I will absolutely be going 'alternate upbringing'- this Ka was born more fortunate, had more access to money, education, etc, but on the flipside still grew up Seeing the capabilities and cruelty of the privledged class. Ultimately she went into Law, but she sticks to small scale good deeds ala her preferred clientelle, and other matters- which includes, as inspired by Lockpicking Lawyer, sharing nifty tricks that could maybe get someone in trouble if they don't plan ahead! (That's out of her hands though)

As in canon, Ka hates big things. Big things mean big risk, big things mean big clunky egos carelessly tromping around. So she lives small! Keeps her head down outside what she's focused on (and she does a Damn good job with what she focuses on).

Aside from filling out the world around her (and disclaimer I know nooooothing about Law so she will be very unlikely to talk to most about her job, even former clients, beyond googleable basics ahem), pinning down exactly what version to bring, name options, these are things I would really love to work with!

Suggestions for paranomal origins would also be great- if I go with THAT one, I WILL want things paralleling with canon in that regard after all.

About: A friendly/overly-chatty young woman who was originally from some small town somewhere and then her family moved to some other city when her mom started a new job, and then she came to Kaisou when starting college. She was rather active during high school, taking her mom's classes (that job mom took? dance teacher), being in band (oboe), and being on the school volleyball team for awhile, among other things.

She is not ready for any of this.

Looking for: I'm already looking at her having a pre-established friendship with a character that Amber's looking at bringing in, but she'll be super open to making more friends, or already knowing more people from school/college/whatevs. And maybe also having all of this nonsense explained to her once she starts actually noticing it because what the hell you guys.

Also, if anyone's interested, I'm open to other AU characters being aunts/uncles/cousins on her mom's side of the family.

Arthur s background is with the supernatural but there's a sizeable normal library as his family's cover, so if she's spending time there she might already be familiar with him. If not.... Hmm she doesn't have much overlap with Jun, except that he's also gone from full normie to involved.

Definitely going to become familiar with one or both of them once she's involved, though.
