Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for August!

OOC Housekeeping

• The Zodiac Network Post will go up September 1st, with a midmonth post going up September 14th. The game wide event log will go up September 4th.
• If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month.
• Starting in September, the group chats will longer be updated this week by new apps/drops. Rather characters apps/drops will be noted on the two zodiac posts done during the month!
• Just a reminder for current players who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!

World Changes

• A famous parisian opera house can now be found in the Entertainment District.
• Grunties can now be found as pets and livestock
• Archon Loaf can be purchased in stores in the University district.
• Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster can now be enjoyed all over Kaisou!
• Don't Starve Rabbits can be found among the normal rabbit populations
• Moogles are living on Moghome, a floating island above the state park
• Roos can be found around Kaisou, as well as their favorite snack, Roda Fruit
• The italian restsaurant Trattoria Trussardi is now open in Midtown!

Side quests
New Side Quests have been added for the month of September! Go ahead and sign up! If you haven't turned in quests for August gacha points, you can still do so until the end of the month! However, signing up for any August quests is now closed.

Town Events
Fall is here and with it comes cooler weather at long last! Cooler, windy weather. But with September comes the new school year! Students of all ages will be beginning school the first week of the month, so be sure to start this new school year right! There will also be a spelling bee taking place, for anyone who wants MORE school.

For those of you less school inclined, there will also be a chance to do some daring air related activities such as hang-gliding and bungee jumping. Stardew Valley will also be moving into it's fall season, for anyone who'd like to go out to the country to enjoy the season.

Gate Event: Great Library of Alexandria
September's gate event will revolve around the Greek Muses and the Great Library of Alexandria! Characters will be able to explore the recreated library that was once destroyed and enjoy it's wealth of knowledge, literature and art (and it's not just books!). While there'll be loads of entertainment in the library, characters will be able to access life records of any person who has died and is related to them (meaning Luke Skywalker could get a file about Anakin, but he couldn't get one about Obi Wan Kenobi). For AU characters, this includes records of their previous selves.

Meanwhile characters with a creative streak of some kind will find themselves suddenly inspired like they never have been before, but as they indulge in this inspiration they will find themselves losing their memories. In order to retrieve their memories, they will need to find the Muses within the library in order to regain their lost memories. Characters can have their memories returned exactly how they were, or players of AU characters can use this opportunity to change their AU history if they so desire! If you plan to make any changes to your AU history, please comment below under the AU CHANGES comment!

Finally, characters can strike a deal with the Muses to give them a free regain in exchange for permanently losing a memory. This regain can be worth anywhere from 1 to 4 points, though the bigger the regain, the more important a memory that'll be lost. For instance, a 1 point regain would be along the lines of forgetting your favorite ice cream flavor, while a 4 point regain would cost something along the lines of memories of your best friend. While players get to decide which memory they will lose, characters will NOT be ICly aware of what memory they are giving up when they make the deal.

ETA: Since there's been some confusing about what kind of memories are worth what amount of points for a regain, here's a quick breakdown.

1 point regain: A minor or mostly inconsequential memory. Things like you can't remember a password or particular one-off incident that didn't strongly affect them as a person.

2 point regain: A notable but not fundamental memory. Memories like "the day I met my best friend" or "a day I started my job" so long as it wasn't a life-changing event. These are memories that are considered kinda important, but forgetting them wouldn't fundamentally change who they are as a person or how they view their lives.

3 point regain: A fundamental one-off memory. These are memories that can be about a singular event, but it's an event that greatly affects the character and would possibly change them as a person should they forget it. Basically those moments that are seen as turning points in the character life, such as a day a parent died or a promise you made that shaped your whole life.

4 point regain: Multiple core memories surrounding an important person or important thing. Characters would completely forget the existence of either an important person in their lives (like a best friend or family member), or a thing that has equal amount of importance to them. This means any memories directly connected to it will be scrubbed.

It must be emphasized again that whatever choice you go with, the memory loss is permanent. While other characters can tell them stuff about what they lost, they themselves will never be able to recall the memories. In addition, the memory loss regain points cannot be used for gacha, because losing memories of your best friend is not worth a furby.

How close does the relation have to be for a character to access files on someone? Claude's got a distant but direct ancestor some thousand years back - would that work for this? On the other end of the scale, if two characters were married, would they be able to access their spouse's files, or is it blood relatives only?

For some reason, a lot of the weirdness that's happened directly to her is mostly that she's periodically and repeatedly found random stuff for no immediately-apparent reason; she's been keeping track in the nigh-futile hopes that she can find some sort of pattern that could possibly explain it.

About: A highschooler who doesn't like to deal with most people too often, but still has a few friends that she feels comfortable enough with most of the time. Back at the beginning of May, she had a whole dragon head pop up on her head but thankfully normal people just see it as a witch hat instead, and while she's gotten used to it being there by now, she still doesn't like it. She doesn't like anything about any of this, to be honest, but she's started to figure that if it's going to be largely unavoidable, she should start getting used to it and maybe be involved where she can.

She hasn't brought it up much, but she's started getting some of her past-life memories. So far she hasn't seen anything particularly significant, though she has seen some weird things as well as some indicators as to what she was capable of, and will pretty soon discover that she's at least partially capable of those same things here.

Event Plans: The life records thing could be fun to poke at because Reasons™ (especially for Kat), but as for the rest of the event, I'm honestly probably going to sit it out; I'm not a fan of memory loss.

In his current life...it was mostly like that, but he got saved when he was saved when he was about 11 so he got to have SOME childhood making him a smidge more socialable. Though he's still grappling with what his powers mean and just what he's supposed to do his life.

Event Plans: Jun is an artist but I haven't decided yet if he'll be dealing with memory loss, I think it depends on his CR. He has community service thanks to the plot last month, so expect to see him around town serving that out. But also good luck getting him out of the library once he discovers there's a fanfic section.

He's also trying to ignore the fact that he's the potential heir to a very power mafia family? That doesn't really come up in conversation. Neither does the fact that Tsuna can enter a berserk state where he runs around the city in his underwear trying to complete his latest regret. Dying Will Mode is a Thing.

Event Plans: Tsuna might be drawn to books about the Vongola Mafia family (who he's supposedly the heir of) and might find some similarities between him and the first boss. He'll probably be very cagey about this information however, and reluctant to share.
But also any sort of chaos that comes with being in a library is par for the course. Book shelf Dominoes anyone?

Event Plans: Anthony just heard about Stardew so he might have to pop over there, pick a few pumpkins, and take up a new gardening hobby. This could work into the event.

A giant old Library filled with old scrolls, books, and ancient treasures is going to make him so lonesome and he is not going to understand why. It could be an opportunity to have him have his first memory or two about Aziraphale or to find out that he isn't related to anyone at all. He was created in his original past life not born into a family unit. Or he might recall more about his AU history which oddly enough still seems to be linked to Alec.

If he ends up being inspired by the Muses he could go wild with gardening and turn whatever place he ends up staying into a indoor jungle. He would get his memories back just as they are if I did decide to do this. Since he is new and all there is no reason to change things too much. He might need some one to send him a machete.

Event Plans: As part of his punishment for the portal mess in August, Varian will be barred from entering this gate- because Zodiac (rightfully) feel maybe giving this kid access to all the knowledge ever is a BAD idea. Not being able to go to the greatest library of all time will make him a sad grumpy boyo and he'll likely be quizzing people on what they read in there. Otherwise, he's going to be continuing to help rebuild after the mess he made, heading to school and likely hitting up some of his closest CR to talk to them about his past.

Event Plans: Losing memories might actually be tempting to her, since there's LARGE parts of her past she'd rather not have to deal with - her struggle with that temptation will be a thing, for sure. (Though, ultimately, she'll decide against it)

About: Luz's Girlfriend! Also, at one point, a pretty potent witch in training, though all her powers are borked now. A native of the Boiling Isles, Amity's parents built weapons for the Emperor and her domineering mother insisted on her following a very strict, ambitious path to success. Very much shedding all of that actively, but yet to discover who she wants to be, outside of helpful and being a Good Girlfriend, which is important because 'perfectionist' stuck.
Event Plans: School is going to be rough on Amity. Hiding her ears to avoid mockery, a sudden and severe drop in her academic results because she's studying subjects she has NO IDEA what to do with, no friends other than Luz? Yep, it's going to be a bad time. And of course she's just gonna grind all that under an exterior of 'everything's fine' and just build up a lot of anger and frustration that may express itself by becoming the world's most intense volleyball player. Wouldn't mind her getting engrossed in the library to try and 'catch up' but having it start to pull at her memories and her needing rescuing.

Event Plans: Rose is going to head to the library of Alexandria. She's going to spend the first part of the trip sleeping in the library and also complaining. After that, she's going to go on a creative binge and lose a lot of her memories. She'll be a lot happier, but the loss of her memories will bother her, even though she's honestly happier because she doesn't have them. It's gonna be a good time.

About: A gentle soul who loves plants, fantasy, and magic. Souta is a student who moved to Kaisou last year. He can be a little odd since he talks to flowers, but he is extremely supportive and empathic to those around him. Still doesn't realize that he holds the powerful magic item Elde's Key.
Event Plans: September will be the start of high school for him. Probably won't get into the side quests this month, but he will be visiting Stardew Valley as usual. With the event, he will be indulging his creative side and drawing more, thus temporarily losing some memories. Once Souta realizes what's happening, he'll help tracking them down. No plans to get a free regain, but he might need someone IC to drag him away from the Muses since he is 100% the type to trust them too much.
Anything else? Those with magic sensing are welcome to notice the oddly strong magic coming off him. Not that he seems the type to use that power. Permissions for powers here

About: An odd child who was raised to be a bioweapon by the weapons dealer who commissioned her creation. Eve is a clone (though she doesn't know it yet) with nanomachines that give her special abilities. Currently she has regeneration powers and reflexes back to normal. Before getting brought to Kaisou, she was traveling with the group of bounty hunters who freed her from life as a killer.
Event Plans: Eve doesn't know what school is, so she might end up a truant for a bit depending on if she's informed. Even without her transformation powers, Eve will be training daily. Once the event starts, she'll absolutely be spending as much time in the library as possible. Forget the Muses, she wants to READ. Eve will also be trying out the side quests since she misses her life of bounty hunting.

The former Sovereign Duke of the Leicester Alliance (his tenure being cut short by the messy end to both the Alliance and his life), Claude is an outwardly cheerful and gregarious person who does his best to appear easygoing and nonthreatening as a cover for his more secretive, ruthless, ambitious side. While he does genuinely like people and at least likes to think of himself as someone who wants what's best for everyone, he's a guarded and mildly paranoid person by nature who tends to try to keep people at arm's length even as he does his best to earn their trust.

It's complicated, basically. If you want a friend who's got the kind of emotional repression where he'll listen to all your problems and offer support and advice while very carefully never letting on to anything about himself, he's your guy.

Anyway in terms of more material things he works over at Eda's Owlery (I think, I may have to run it by Eda's player again) and is doing community service looking after the city stables and acting as an archery instructor/camp counselor at a local summer program. He's also trying to figure out where the fuck to house his two-ton flying lizard, Aysun the wyvern. It's going great.

Event Plans:

While I'm not planning on having Claude lose any memories - or if he does he'll go running to fetch them back immediately - I will absolutely be having him dig up records on his distant ancestor and claim to nobility, Riegan, of the Ten Elites who supposedly freed Fodlan from the evil gods that once ruled the land some thousand years ago and was gifted the magic bow Failnaught by the goddess Sothis. Uh, spoilers for Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but:

So that's absolutely not what happened. Riegan was in fact involved in the genocide of the Nabatean people, a dragon-like race that were direct descendants of Sothis. He created Failnaught from the bones and heart of one of them and infused himself with their blood to gain their power, resulting in the Crest of Riegan that Claude bears in the present day. It's fucked up!!

So like. That's going to be a fun revelation. Aside from that, Claude is going to be digging into as much history and magical theory as he can get his hands on to distract himself from the existential crisis. Someone should probably remind him that he needs to sleep and eat at various points during the event.

Event Plans: He will go to the library to do a bit of research and see if he can find out anything about his past life. However, since we don't know anything about any family members in his canon, I'm going to have him get side tracked by a surge of musical inspiration, then lose his memories and have to go to the muses to regain them.

He will also be doing the side quest to investigate Mrs. Fluffluffer's pet shop. He will be infiltrating it as one of the familiars for sale. He'll be very successful in getting information on her crimes, and while he's engaging in espionage you can feel free to have your character spot him in one of the cages in the store.
