Welcome to the bimonthly AU & CR workshop for Kaisou! We're super excited to have you! These posts are to help encourage old and new players to make new connections and find potential CR while designing your AU or figuring out what your OU character has been up to.

AU Occupation: Jun is a freshman at Kaisou University where he studies art! He also works part time at a coffee shop in Midtown.
About: In canon Jun was a kid who was raised by a secret church organization to be a weapon that fights monsters and have no emotional attachments. Fortunately before he could go too far down the road of sociopathic religious zealot, he was exposed to normal teenagers who taught him the power of friendship, empathy and being your own person.
In his AU, Jun was raised by a fringe underground group named Krusnik that's obsessed with creating and controlling Possessed. It was an Awful Time, but when he was about 12 he was found by Abel Nightroad and brought to Kaisou where he slowly learned how to live a normal life. So he's still screwed up by his past, but the damage isn't as severe as his canon self and he's had more time to grow and heal. Eventually he used DNA testing to try to find his roots, and managed to meet a couple cousins such as Minato. That said, he's been extremely tight lipped about his past and done his best to pretend he's normal as possible.
He attended Kaisou high school where he was a nerdy kid who made plenty of surface level friends thanks to being pretty laid back, but no real deep connections. Now he is currently enrolled in Kaisou University where he studies art and is active in anime club. He loves anime, cosplaying, art, gardening and cooking (mostly desserts). He's extremely curious about basically everything, and thus has been getting involved in Spirit Realm stuff to satisfy that curiosity.
Looking for: Friends from school! Fellow nerds! Cousins! Coworkers at the coffee shop! People who maybe knew him when he was still adjusting to normal life! Jun is a bit on the quiet side, but he's pretty laid back so it's easy enough to make positive relations with him.
Elliot Craig | Trails of Cold Steel | Normal AU

Age: He is 21 in his AU! (up from 19 in canon)
AU Occupation: Elliot is the music teacher at Kaisou High School! He also does private lessons, performs music, and is going to school part time. When does he sleep? We just don't know.
About: In canon, Elliot was the son of a general who was enrolled at Thors Military Academy even though he personally wanted to become a musician. He grew attached to his classmates, grew a lot from his experiences, but also it's a JRPG so eventually a civil war with giant mechs broke out and their class was caught in the middle of it. After a timeskip to when he's an adult, Elliot became a professional musician and a music teacher -- but again it's a JRPG so shit got disrupted and they had to stop another war and save the world. Trails is a lot.
In his AU, Elliot is the son of a US army general (one of the lower ranking ones). His family moved around a lot, as army families do, and his mother who taught him music passed away when he was about 9 from illness. While his dad expected him to become a soldier, Elliot wanted to be a musician and it pretty much caused constant conflict between them until Elliot reached college age-- where he more or less used college as an excuse to get away from his dad and live his own life.
Once he moved to Kaisou he enrolled in school and studied to be a music teacher and education so he could support himself. He had a serious relationship with another man, but it ended when the other man decided he rather be a priest (something Elliot is quite salty about). He's mostly done with college now except for a last couple credits, and he's been working as the music teacher at Kaisou High School starting this year. He's a warm and caring teacher, but isn't afraid to challenge his students and push them to work hard. Easy A his class is not.
In March, he was kidnapped by the fae and during that time, he was given a curse that changes him into a cat. He's learning how to control it as well as to do other magic so he can avoid that happening again.
Looking for: College friends, Music buddies, students of his, people from his past, current classmates at the EEC. I'm open for anything!
Zelos Wilder | Tales of Symphonia | Original Universe
Character Name: Zelos Wilder

Age: 23 (22 in canon, but time passed)
About: We don't talk about Zelos's past.
Zelos arrived in Kaisou about a year ago from the world of Tethe'alla. He says he was dead before, but won't go into anymore details. Since then, he's been living with Ana and Adol in the Zodiac apartments and been working as a host at various spots in the Entertainment district. He also has an OnlyFans page because of course he does. He's that guy that seems extroverted and social, but actually keeps to himself a lot and probably doesn't remember most people's names (in other words, he's an asshole!). Getting him to open up is a Herculean task and probably one you'll regret.
Time of Arrival in Kaisou: Over a year ago! He was among the first OUs to show up.
What are they up to: In the past few months, his powers have slowly been returning to him. Unfortunately for him, because he lacks the thing that treats the side effects to his abilities in this world, it means he is currently unable to eat, drink or sleep. Next month, he'll be losing his sense of touch as well. Unsurprisingly, he's only told a couple people about this and it has not helped his overall demeanor.
Looking for: I'm game for pre-established CR! Previous clients or people who've had the misfortune of dealing with him.
Mirabel Madrigal | Encanto | OU
Character Name: Mirabel Madrigal

About: A spunky, adventurous girl who comes from a all magical family, despite not having any powers herself. An optimist who has questionable self-worth issues.
Time of Arrival in Kaisou: She's been here since January.
What are they up to: Hoo boy, so Mirabel's been possessed by a werewolf, nearly died, and is cursed to look half-wolf. She's been having a rough time, but ultimately is catching a break this month due to Stardew Valley and Hot Springs episode. She'll be turning back into a human this month as well (though keeping the curse permanently). She basically needs a lot of rest this month.
Looking for: Pretty much anyone! Developed CR or brand new CR!

About: A severe introvert who loves music, tends to be a huge pushover and a people-pleaser. In their AU, they were raised by rockstar musician parents, who decided to settle in Kaisou. They've been able to see ghosts since they were little, and have developed a heavy interest in the supernatural/paranormal because of it. They still love music, although their music is inspired by the supernatural and people tend to treat it as Halloween music. They work as a local DJ in town.
Napstablook has recently regained some white hair, which is confusing. And shadow powers to make them invisible. Which is also confusing!

About: A nervous, socially awkward seer who was blamed for causing his predictions by literally everyone and spent the last decade of his life living in the walls of the family home with only rats for company.
Time of Arrival in Kaisou: Mid Jan!
What are they up to: Mostly chilling in Stardew Valley. Luisa and Mirabel got seriously messed up in the Fae event so he's still got some nerves about that and is pretty worried something else awful will happen to his family. He's got cabin mates who AREN'T his family and is trying not to freak out about that.
Looking for: Anyone! Bruno is VERY not good at people and tends to be fairly offputting until you get to know his little quirks. He's finally accepting that he can Have Friends in this place though which is a pretty new concept for him, and having people not openly revile him everywhere he goes is nice. He has a permissions post here if anyne ever wants him to have a vision about their character. If they GO to him for one, they'll need to be pretty convincing because he hates doing it.

AU Occupation: High school student (junior year, specifically)
About: In canon, the Witch is one of the last remaining members of the Dragonblood Clan, which is seen (and treated) by most people in her world as something less than human. She is granted power by the Astral Dragon Atruum—an ancient being that the Clan sees as its guardian deity—in order to do seek revenge against the king of Medius for his having ordered the destruction of the Clan and its village. In order to get close enough to the king to carry out her revenge, she takes up doing various odd/dangerous jobs as an 'Adventurer' to build up enough of a reputation that she would be permitted to meet him. Things don't quite turn out as they were expected to.
In the AU, Katida (who prefers to be called Kat) is a high-schooler who was frequently teased when she was younger, so she doesn't particularly enjoy dealing with people, but anyone she is close enough to runs a risk of finding out that she's kind of a nerd with a particular interest in fantasy stuff and especially dragons. She happens to be part of a fairly-large family that periodically holds big reunions—her cousin, who is currently living with Kat and her parents, was met at one such reunion.
The first couple weeks after Libra appeared on her phone were largely spent just trying to even wrap her head around all of this. Her hair and eye colors both changed on the first day, going from brown and gray-blue to white and very pink respectively, and then on April 1st she ended up getting a weird purple owl
and also stole a broom, because reasons.In May, unless there's any change of plans, things will start getting...somewhat unpleasant for her.

About: Tsunayoshi is a pretty normal kid. He lives with his mom and goes to school. He's not the best at school, bad at sports, dismal grades. clumsy, and not a lot of ambition beyond that. His dad is busy with overseas work and only shows up from time to time. Tsuna hasn't seen him in a few years. He's vaguely aware of the paranormal happenings of the world, but ignores them in favour of a more mundane life.
Tsuna is also ignoring a bigger secret. He knows his dad works for the mafia, and there's a possibility that he is next in line to inherit a powerful Mafia. He's in denial about that though, even though he's been having dreams about the people he meets. And in moments of extreme stress is normally brown eyes turn a bright orange.
Looking for: I'd love for people who know Tsuna from school or other places, even if they avoid him since he's a bit of a loser who causes trouble. But tutors, friends, people who haven't given up on him would be cool to.

Age: 19
AU Occupation: College student, specifically taking dance and dance-related courses.
About: Canon Lita is a member of a team of explorers and that's...basically it, actually, since I don't like having my OCs directly tied to canon characters or plot! She initially worked with a team that did things near the city where her parents had decided to settle down, because she was incapable of sitting still herself, and eventually she split off from that team to be one of the founding members of another team elsewhere.
In the AU, Lita's the daughter of a couple of school/arts-types (specifically, dad's a band director and mom's a dance teacher), and was pretty active in various extracurriculars during high school—band, volleyball team, etc.—and also actually took her mom's classes at one point as well. Being interested in dance things herself, she decided to try going to college for it, and wound up getting into Kaisou U.
Most of the shenanigans she's personally dealt with since Libra appeared to her are just...she keeps finding random stuff, for no particular reason at all. A pair of earrings just suddenly appeared on her desk one day. A nailbat somehow found its way under her bed. An MP3 player was apparently sent to her with no return address. That sort of thing. It's weird. She's also gained a sort of resistance to cold, suggesting that, to anyone aware of how Kaisou's elements work, she has an affinity for Water.
That affinity's gonna bite her in the ass while she's in Stardew. In fact, it already has.

About: Magically gifted with super strength, Luisa is the definition of “gentle giant”. She is hardworking, responsible, helpful, and deeply cares about her family. She can be a bit hard on herself at times, and is still learning that it’s okay to do things just for herself instead of always doing things for other people.
Time of Arrival in Kaisou: Mid-February
What are they up to: Last month was a bit rough for her and she ended up getting possessed, so she’s still recovering from that. Right now she’s mostly just trying to take it easy, while dealing with some guilt and a few other unresolved issues
Looking for: Gimme everything! Luisa is a bit shy and isn’t used to making friends, but she definitely could use some close people to turn to outside of her family, especially people who can help her open up and explore new interests. I would also kind of love to play out a romantic relationship with her, but that one’s not a big thing.
Hunter | The Owl House | OU

About: The big bad's golden child who is in actuality a beat up, magicless witch and gigantic mess. He's incredibly socially maladjusted and extremely desperate to get back to Emperor Belos, because without him he has no use and without a use there's no point in existing (insert 'cheerfully digging his own grave' scene here). He has a magic emotional support bird who is simply the best.
Time of Arrival in Kaisou: Feb 2022.
What are they up to: Helping out in Stardew Valley, since the potential of a stable portal is very appealing to him. He's also attending high school and has no idea what he's doing (the other kids think he's an overachieving loser). He's getting a canon update at the end of the month and will be having a bit of a breakdown over it.
Looking for: Always looking for peers his own age to think he's a big socially maladjusted weirdo, or ones patient enough to help him in the slow steps he needs to take to become a normal kid. Adults with authority for him to glom onto. Adults in general for him to hang around and be like 'why is this child acting like he's a grownup what is going on.'

AU Occupation: College student with a part-time job at a convenience store.
About: Katsuki had a near death experience at four years old where he nearly drowned and now he's possessed by a kitsune. It's landed him with some fire magic but he's been pointedly ignoring all that and has been trying to fit in.
Like a perfectly normal human worm baby.But now that he's around other people who aren't 'normal', he's starting to look into training his magic.With the whole possession thing he's learned to get a better hold on his emotions in order to better hide it. Since making things break with emotional outbursts isn't conductive to hiding otherness.
He's still rude and aggressive and hella ambitious. But his edges are softer and since he's older and a little more mature he's a little more willing to let that protective side show. He's still gonna swear he doesn't need friends tho. As he does all the things friends do with his friends.
Looking for: Give this boy some friends! He'll swear he doesn't need them but he dooooes. This includes potential existing friends from college and work. Let's hash it out! Also would love interactions with fellow possessed because he could use the reassurance of knowing he's not alone even if he'll never admit it.

AU Occupation: Kaisou University student in the theatre department, who also works part-time at a bakery.
About: In canon, Nana was a student at Seisho Music Academy. She participated in the Revues, where Stage Girls sing, dance, and fight for brilliance, and as the Top Star, she repeated the girls' first year at Seisho over and over again. In the end of her canon, Nana learned to move on from her desire to keep things exactly the same.
In her AU, Nana attended Kaisou High School, where she had her first experience with the paranormal - the rumors of a ghost in the theatre weren't just rumors. Nana found out the hard way that the rumors were real when she was attacked by a Spirit Monster while she was rehearsing alone for her role as Christine in Phantom of the Opera. The prop chandelier crashed onto the stage, trapping her under it until she was possessed by the spirit of a harpy, allowing her to fly away and heal.
To this day, she's still possessed, but she's learned how to control it better.

About: So in canon he's a very unfortunate android with So Much Shit happening that I won't be going into here. For the AU, I'm thinking that he is a former experiment either escaped or otherwise liberated from whoever (we have Krusnik, but I'm also thinking of turning YoRHa or the Red Girls into a similar organization with different goals). The experiments left him with Light-based powers and a very poor grasp of people and also his emotions. His personality would be more early-game 9S than late-game 9S (there is a reason his username is a pun on "nihilist" okay) so there is that.
Also he's a computer genius but like that's separate from the Bullshit

About: Roxas in his canon is a former Nobody, now Replica bodied human, who is a Keybearer. Travels across different worlds to defeat Heartless and is a Guardian of Light. Wields two Keyblades, and overall is curious about everything since he's so new to everything.
Au wise he will be a student who just wants to pass his classes. Whether art or lit, he'll be suffering from art/writers block at times and just wander around to find inspiration. Or just watch a bunch of youtube videos or something till something clicks.
Time of Arrival in Kaisou: Arrived in Kaisou two years ago to attend college here.
What are they up to: See above. He's hoping to make graphic arts a career. Also dealing with powers coming in that are making his life difficult.
Looking for: Family would be great!!! Also friends of course. Maybe someone who moved here from the same place as Roxas or something and they're still in contact. Who knows. GIVE ME ALL OF IT

Age: 26 (his canon age is "the deep voice says 'an adult, probably'")
AU Occupation: repairs and restores small and historical aircraft
About: Canonically, he's all the honor of a fairytale knight and the fight energy of several hummingbirds condensed into roughly two feet of masked puffball.
In this AU, he's most of the honor of a fairytale knight and the fight energy of several hummingbirds condensed into four feet and ten inches of aircraft mechanic. Nobody seems to know much about his past, and the impression of mystery is likely helped by the fact that he refuses to be seen without some sort of mask that is definitely worn just because it looks cool, and no other reason. Certainly nothing to do with the past he won't talk about or a form of social anxiety, no siree.
Meti also likes entering cage matches and occasionally entering Spirit Realms to fight things. You know, normal hobbies. ...No, okay, he's a weird little dude, but at least he's nice enough.
Looking for: anything, but rivals especially. He absolutely thrives when he's got a good rival to try and defeat.

About: In his canon, Souta is a fairly normal student with the odd habit of talking to flowers. That is until a group of fairy tale themed magical girls swoop into his life. He quickly learns that he actually holds the power of Elde's Key, a mysterous force that has drawn the attention of an evil witch.
In his AU, Souta has no remarkable abilities pre-game. His father raised him, since his mother has been gone for longer than Souta can remember. He has no knowledge of why or memories of her. The two recently moved to Kaisou, and Souta is very reserved at his new school. He has a love of fantasy. Combined with a very soft disposition, he's dealt with his fair share of bullies. More so, he's going from a solid friend group at his previous school to unknown classmates. Since his dad is very busy with work, Souta often has the house to himself. He can't cook, but he has an allowance for dinners if there are no leftovers.
Also he will be able to talk to plants again soon.
Looking for: Potential friends, classmates, teachers, maybe even folks who've delivered food to his place? All the new people, he could use it

AU Type: Paranormal.
Age: 24
AU Occupation: Graduate student! He's working on getting his (combined) masters and PhD in history, specializing in mythology/folklore but specifically looking into the Spirit Realm's height of influence and the following diminishment.
About: Raha was born in Eastern Europe, but he remembers little of his time there as his family moved to England when he was quite young. His family seemed to have a knack for getting themselves involved in the supernatural, which was a large part of them moving since English normies have a bit more of 'harmless weirdo' attitude towards it all, which turned out to be especially important after Raha became attuned to the paranormal at a young age after a run in with some manner of three-headed dog. The experience did nothing to scare him off from it, however, and he made a habit of reading every sort of fairytale and mythology, and large, overwrought analyses of them when he was a bit older.
He's been in Kaisou at the university for a few years, having finished uni in England and moving here for graduate school, and the Spirit Vein is a large part of why he chose school here. He is a giant nerd who spends entirely too much time in the library, to the point of forgetting things like 'eating' and 'sleeping,' but he's a friendly and sociable sort who is happy to strike up conversation and will tell you his entire thesis if you ask.
Looking for: tbh I have no idea what I'm doing, totally here for friends, family, classmates, people who regularly catch him asleep with a book on his face in the library...
Also, haven't totally figured out what type of elemental magic he should be going for yet; sort of looking at Shadow and Water primarily.

About: Alphinaud has basically always been kind of... thrown into the supernatural. Usually in odd flits and bouts, he was toyed with by a passing fae with his twin sister Alisae, and his grandfather was the one who chased the creature off for good. Alphinaud continued to find himself involved in supernatural events, usually harmless ones, until his own curiosity of the other world led into his own studies. His father pushed him to study law, despite the boy saying his interests lay elsewhere, and so he begrudgingly took classes while studying the supernatural on the side. He's now in Kaisou at the university on a full-ride scholarship, using the cover of "studying law" and actually studying literature instead. All the while, he's trying to find ways to connect with the experience he had before.

He's still pretty awkward at making friends, but he's a little more confident then he was in canon, since he never had to deal with being That Kid from the ghost hunting family.

About: He's a musical theater professor with a passion for opera, musical theater and guns. The interest in guns is purely academic, of course, and he doesn't really want to hurt anyone, but he'll gladly give you a run down of the history of any weapon you ask about! His weird preoccupation with this subject is likely well known, as is his crush on Michael Crawford. His father was involved with organized crime and ended up murdered, but Moxxie was always kept far away from that area of his father's life, and never really went anywhere near looking into any of it after his father's death.
Looking for: I'd like to hash out his CR with his coworkers, students, etc. at the University. Also, I'd like to establish CR with any barista type characters. They definitely hate him, because even the AU Moxxie orders coffee like this. Also, if any characters have any ties to organized crime, it might be fun to hash out if and how they might have ties to Moxxie's father. They could be vaguely aware of Moxxie's existence, but he would likely not be aware of their own. He also regularly frequents gun ranges and likes to collect guns, particularly rare and historical guns, so might meet some people through this.
