Welcome to the June Handwaved CR & AU workshop for Kaisou! We're super excited to have you! These posts are to help encourage old and new players to make new connections and find potential CR while designing your AU or figuring out what your OU character has been up to. If you're brand news, you can check out FAQ page and the app page to get a sense of what's going on!
If you're a player looking to app a new character:
Apps are always open for submission and get done the first and third weekends of the month. So once you got a clear idea of what you want, feel free to hop over to the application page! If you're already in the game, feel free to comment to this post as well to make new CR!
A reminder that in order to app either a Black Order or POKEGO AU you are required to have been in the game at least 3 months with another character. If you are rejoining the game after being gone awhile, you can count your past stint towards your 3 months, but it's recommended you look over the plot recap to see what you missed.

Age: 21 thanks to two years in Kaisou

About: Cheerful, friendly, outgoing, and packed with way more trauma under the surface than anyone her age ought to. Apparently that's what happens when you spend 3+ years saving the world from various threats instead of going to high school. Is finally trying to find a semblance of 'normal life' for herself here in Kaisou.
Typical Activities: Works at the Vogue, spends a lot of time exploring Hyrule with Yasuho, occasionally goes to pester Edward on the Jackdaw, generally spends a lot of time visiting/doing things with friends and family! Takes a few classes at Cygnus now too. Gacha has apparently decided to make her a pokemon trainer so she's out with her menagerie a fair bit too.
Looking for: I'm down for just about anything! Ritsuka's by far the easiest of my three for getting along with people, so it's easy to handwave stuff.
Character Name: Beredvyn of Nal (Meredith Nelson)
Canon: original character
Age: 26 thanks to time in Kaisou
Type: Normal AU
About: Midwestern gal who likes sports and swordfighting and was working on getting her career off the ground when a weird app showed up on her phone. Things have only gotten weirder since, and she's distinctly less than thrilled about it. Has a 'pet' griffin and is trying to deal with the fact that her cousin no longer remembers the app but she's still stuck in the middle of this craziness.
Typical Activities: She (somehow) still has a normal job, her main hobbies are sports and HEMA, so mostly she's interacting with other app-users on, well, the app. Or helping out as much as she can when something goes wrong/a new gate shows up. Basically she's Around but usually not getting too involved with shenanigans. Usually. Still now great at controlling her monster form, she hates this.
Looking for: Again, I'm down for whatever! Lucy (who's no longer on the app) is her cousin, but I'd certainly be open to other relatives/prior friends/etc too. Meredith can come across a bit strong, especially if she's feeling opinionated or worried, but she'll very much stick with anyone she does care about and is more than willing to lend her earth-element powers to anything from combat to stuff as mundane as literal heavy lifting.

About:A teenager red echidna alien who's far too serious and far too naive for his own good. Likes grapes and punching things. Is actually maybe putting some effort into attempting too make connections with people but is. really not good at it. At all.
Typical Activities: WARRIOR TRAINING. Which consists of running his obstacle course in the woods, primarily. In his free time he tends to wander around, and now with the whole barrier and spirit realm thing frequently goes patrolling for stray monsters. Also regularly visits Meropide because Wrio is teaching him the sport of boxing! Or trying to, at least.
Looking for: KID NEEDS MORE FRIENDS and a friendly(?) rivalry or two wouldn't hurt either.
NEW CHARACTER - Anby | Zenless Zone Zero | TBO AU
Character Name: Anby Demara
Canon: Zenless Zone Zero
Age: 28-29ish!
Type: Black Order AU
About:
In canon, Anby is a clone who was created to be a soldier where she was considered the best of the best, but after a bunch of bad stuff happened, she bailed that life and began working with the constantly broke odds-job group called the Cunning Hares. She acts more emotionless than the actual robot in her team, loves movies (to the point of failing to tell fiction from reality), and insists burgers are all you need in life food wise.
So you know, your typical burnt out gifted-child millennial.
AU Plans:
I'm still working out the details, but I'm thinking Anby spent her early years with Krusnik until she bailed (and under conditions that would've made her look bad to the rest). Not sure what happened after that, but eventually she joined up with the Black Order where she's spent most of her career in Team Florida due to her burnt out low performance. Only recently did she get a transfer to the Kaisou unit.
Also sorry Krusnik siblings she'll probably ghost most of you because Anby's MO for dealing with family drama is to pretend you're dead. This definitely won't blow up in her face
Looking for: Fellow Black Order members and people who might have known her before she joined the Order! with Krusnik she was probably only with them until about 2007, so she left long before a lot of you kiddos were old enough to remember oop.

NEW CHARACTER - Phainon (HSR) - Ronin AU
Character Name: Phainon
Canon: Honkai Star Rail
Age: Late 20s, Amphoreus ages are a HAHA HEE HEE thing I swear
Type: Ronin AU
About: Resident Samoyed puppy of a giant man who is a goddamn himbo and very very dumb, but has an incredibly big heart. Destined to be the one hero who survives the Flame Chase journey and sees a new world reborn, Phainon is actually a man who secretly never wanted to be a hero in the first place and carries a lot of pain and secrets with him. He tends to hide his problems with a smile and act like nothing's wrong, and also, hates burdening people with literally anything.
He's also [REDACTED] and [REDACTED], which leads to [REDACTED][REDACTED][REDACTED]. (3.4 hasn't come out yet and we still have up to 3.7 so I'm gonna keep him around 3.2/3.3 for a long while to avoid spoilers).
In short, Phainon's a very good boy who gets put through SO MUCH in such a short time and really does not deserve it 8')
AU Plans: Ronin AU -
☀︎ Born to a normal family with no touch to the supernatural, may or may not have siblings, unsure at this point!
☀︎ Around 7 or 8 years old, the apartment complex his family was living in caught on fire, and he was the lone survivor (or he believed he was, if we do a sibling thing)- this brought back the memories of Aedes Elysie burning, which, WHOOPS now he has trauma! (so much trauma)
☀︎ He was put in foster care and shuffled around every now and then, never really allowed to settle in with one family fully because of him being a troublemaker or it wasn't a good fit.
☀︎ The Black Order finally caught up with him when he was 13, something something "we can help explain the stuff you're seeing and remembering all the time if you come and work with us" bullshit, he was tired of moving around and was incredibly lonely and had these memories he didn't understand, so he said yes.
☀︎ He first started out in recon, until he was able to properly fight, and then he was moved to a fighting unit where he was just stupidly outdoing people (because you cannot tell me a man who can fight someone nonstop for TEN DAYS STRAIGHT to a stalemate won't outdo people).
☀︎ Phainon was a Grade-A gremlin. Thanks to the ton of memories he got, he learned quickly he actually did not like or agree with a lot of TBO's choices- but he was stuck with them and had no way out as of then. So! He became a rebellious teenage little shit who would cause Minor Problems on Purpose(TM), get reprimanded, behave for a while, then go be gremlin enough to avoid getting into trouble again.
☀︎ He was super friendly, and super nice! But also, he liked to push as much as he could without being yelled at.
☀︎ This was a constant on and off thing until his early twenties. Average Teenager Shithead Problems(TM). After that, TBO threatened a lot more, including his own teammates, which brought him far more in line. He hated it. By then he'd stopped being a shithead and was more stable, but he still obviously didn't agree with what was happening in TBO.
☀︎ He'd still been receiving new memories now and then, even so many years later (because of Reasons). One particular group of memories actually set Phainon on edge, causing him to act out and try to do what he believed was right.
☀︎ This got him into BIG trouble, and TBO decided that Phainon was too dangerous to seal, so his ass got canned and put to sleep in the pods in Meropide. He's been there for ? years because I'm still working on the timeline as to when and how long, etc etc
Looking for: FRIENDS! Potential not-dead siblings? IDK! He knows someone from his childhood and a few people in the Black Order, I'm more than happy for him to know more! This guy is a complete puppy and an absolute extrovert. He will find and befriend introverts because that's how he is as a person. I'm pretty much open for anything!

NEW CHARACTER - Yi Sang | Limbus Company | Paranormal AU
Canon: Project Moon - Limbus Company
Age: 29
Type: Paranormal AU
About: Yi Sang is soft spoken and earnest man, an intellectual inventor with a penchant for poetry, who just wants to make nice things for people. Despite his quite presence, he prefers to be among a group. Initially this was a group of fellow intellectuals, and after quite a series of circumstances resulting in indentured servitude, currently it's a group of coworkers whom Yi Sang has found camaraderie with.His coworkers are largely morons, of the lovable sort.
While he'd more naturally drift toward those of a similar educational level, a gap in intellect does not deter a friendship. If directly asked about a subject he knows well, he'll happily go in depth on the topic (sometimes a little too in-depth, but that depends on his audience). He does however, have the social grace to not do this unprompted.
Yi Sang's earnest nature leads to a natural politeness, and he flusters easily when he makes a statement that is unintentionally offensive. That being said, Yi Sang will not hold back when faced with a morally offensive situation. To be clear, "morally offensive" usually involves some level of making someone else suffer for one's own personal gain. In his line of work, this is usually some flavor human sacrifice, a major bummer for almost everyone involved.
One other noteworthy quirk. Yi Sang will often use "ideal" or "unideal" to describe many things. Use the word "Ideal" around him, and Yi Sang will respond as though you've said his name. Korean language humor, you see.
AU Plans: (Paranormal AU)
Looking for: Anything! Definitely will be seeking friends, open to familial relationships. Yi Sang will be acquiring his own housing in the near future, but until then, he'll need a place to stay.

so like two options here:
- I play Percy de Rolo as a Zodiac AU and he's ALSO an engineer with a shady past, if you'd like they could've known each other in the past and he would've tapped Yi Sang like hey wanna come to Kaisou?
- or maybe he was hired by an apparently eccentric living history museum owner to do some tech upgrades on two authentic pirate ships! only to show up and see Edward Kenway who is an isekai from the 18th century who's like oh good you're the tech guy I hired help me with putting up a security system on two wooden ships.
Edward also comes with like a huge house that houses many animals. so if Yi Sang wants he'll offer a place for him to stay temporarily. just uh don't mind all the Pokemon.

These are both kind of temping! In Percy's case, while Yi Sang's background would've been academic, he would have easily settled into a college friend group or the like, where friends who shared the hobby but didn't attend the college, would be. Seeing a familiar and known face would help with the Zodiac sales pitch that he might be more reluctant about, if that's part of it.
A security system would be up his alley, despite the ah, initial confusion Difficult to say if he'd realize Edward's anything other than a mariner who's a cosplaying enthusiast! Pokemon are going to be a very new phenomenon for Yi Sang, and one conflicting with his OU memories (intelligent creatures not deemed "acceptably human" were banished to the wilderness in his setting)
Edit: Y'know I almost forgot. Rather humorously here, Yi Sang is horribly sensitive to sea sickness, could be a project over a period of time as a result!

as for Percy! he had a v shady past and didn't go to college exactly, but he definitely would've been happy to hang out with Yi Sang and chat about his projects whenever he was in the area. he's not quite about to recruit him into Zodiac but he's certainly just like "hey do you wanna come work on a side project with me???"

In fairness to Percy, friend of a friend (or even friend of a friend of a friend) can easily happen in those groups with mutual interest and Yi Sang would be more than happy to talk shop.

After talking with you for a bit, the angle of Yi Sang occasionally doing work for said syndicate makes sense. I do have to imagine the organization's line of work may gently come up, but given the cause, I suspect Yi Sang would be more sympathetic. Something I forgot to mention, I figured Yi Sang had little direct contact with the paranormal in his youth, only aware that he was capable of something others couldn't perceive correctly. This would be one of his larger encounters with the paranormal.
Given a conversation above, Baizhu might then have a familiar face stumbling into his pharmacy, inquiring about prescription strength Dramamine. =D

I have lots of people to choose from for previous CR, but considering Blade's (well, Yingxing's) genius craftsman tendencies I think they could have brushed up against each other in the past. He went to school in Cincinnati for engineering so they could have gone to school together; Blade also had a pretty busy online life before this as a blacksmith on youtube hacking shit together and posting it for people to see without showing his face, like Blacksmithing with Babish or something. His personality was very arrogant and very loner-esque.
Unfortunately because he is a hoyo character, Blade blew himself up and got amnesia like 3 years ago + a slight personality change, so he's going to be at a disadvantage remembering anything in detail. Which may be a good thing???

From what little was explained to me, Blade/Yingxing makes a lot of sense for previous CR. I'm not sure how Blade would feel about the work of others (if he'd be drawn to someone else's work or if his previous arrogant/loner traits would prevent him from doing so).
Yi sang wouldn't likely seek out a casual friendship, but I could easily see them sharing a class together and somehow being paired up or on the same team. It...may not go great for Yi Sang, although he'd probably make note of how good Blade's work was. How would Blade feel about that situation if I may?
As a note, if nothing else, Yi Sang will be getting a vehicle for an regain. That vehicle is going to need a couple modifications to its fuel intake, for uh, reasons (let's just say its current fuel source is...unsustainable). He'll be making a call to see who might be able to do that modification. If Blade answers, Yi Sang would definitely recognize him when he shows up, and I'm sure some there would be some major dialogue at that point~

As far as other people's work, Blade isn't so shortsighted that he'd be uninterested, especially because his work doesn't cover everything Yi Sang's does. He's super arrogant because he knows his work on weapons/armor is the best, and the rest has room for improvement.
I did notice that Yi Sang is like 2 years older so a collab (whether long or short distance) seems pretty possible. During college, Blade was depressed as hell and very self-destructive, so he'd be the kind of guy to just do normal group projects by himself. If it's related to his hyperfixations though (a.k.a. engineering) he's more likely to be really into it (and I mean really into it...) He was less about praise back then and would have gladly shared the improvements he thought could be made to his work (and Yi Sang's work) if prompted because he really loved the process and was an insane perfectionist.
Haha, the fun thing is that he's totally done this sort of thing before, so he'd be the first guy to sign up for that project even if he didn't know the guy. He harassed Ardyn while he was in game because he wanted to see under the hood of his car... lmao.

Yi Sang would be absolutely happy to find a kindred spirit in Varian! There's definitely going to be an adjustment period for him while he comes to terms with the fact that he'll be taking up residency in Kaisou for the next while. Knowing someone who's familiar with the recent history would be a great help.
