Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for March!

OOC Housekeeping

• The Zodiac Network Post will go up March 1st, with a midmonth post going up March 15th. There will be two event logs, a city based one will be posted March 4th, with a spirit realm based one posted March 15th.
• If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month!
• Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord for current players! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!

World Changes

• Gravelord's Stone Sarcophagus can be found on Cathedral Hill!
• Howl's Newsstand can be found outside of Random Play!

Side quests
Side quests will be available this week! February side quests will be available until the quests go up, so consider today your last chance to sign up for those!

If you wish to redeem past quests for regain points or gacha points, you can please do so! That said, any regain point redemption for February should be done BEFORE the AC check begins, and be added to your February activity comment.

POKEGO Update
During the month of February, POKEGO has been focused on trying to help their fellow researcher find a way so he doesn't die of Angel Toxicosis. And this month, you'll be continuing that work! Fortunately, it does look like a solution is on the horizon (the star fragment), so some will be tasked with helping collect some to be made.

Besides that, POKEGO members who are willing to put themselves in danger will be assisting the Black Order in dealing with the Eclipse matters.... as well as trying to help minimize the damage done by the Fae. Man. There's a lot going on.

Zodiac Update
With the other factions busy with other matters, it unfortunately falls to Zodiac to deal with the... fair guests of the city.

Thanks to years of prior experience, Zodiac is well aware that the Fae could be a major pain if not handled properly. The company does not agree that the Black Order's more aggressive tactics are the right call- so they are stepping into the ring and volunteering to be the faction to deal with the Fae by using the same power they use on shareholders and consumers alike: appeasement and ass-kissing.

Therefore, Zodiac employees will be tasked with assisting the Fae in their efforts to create a musical. Do your best to provide whatever demands they give, no matter how unreasonable. Because remember, pissing off a Fae is a GREAT way to get cursed.

Black Order Update
Thanks to the Black Order, they were able to successfully squash the Love Potion market that was brewing in Kaisou. However, they discovered some disturbing hints that there is something more sinister going on beneath the surface.

Unfortunately, this month you won't get to investigate that front. As with the appearance of the Eclipse just outside the city, Guardians will be tasked with trying to keep citizens AWAY from the areas that the Eclipse are manifesting - as well as trying to save any citizens that got trapped within them. Whether they do this by persuasion or by more... aggressive means is up to them!

City Events: Free Gacha
During March, the Wind element will be in full effect! This means the weather is going to windy, but overall they will definitely be heading into the warmer spring weather! The city itself will be relatively calm this month, to make up for the rest of the nonsense going on.

That said, there will be meteor showers appearing throughout the month! Like previous meteor showers, the ones in Kaisou will include packages that crash land in front of the characters- containing free gacha items! Characters will be able to get 3 free gacha items for this month, just comment below. As usual, the mods will tackle about 10-30 character pulls a day to avoid getting overwhelmed.

The meteor showers will not only be happening in Kaisou, but in Hyrule too! But instead of gacha items, these meteor showers will contain the rare ingredient Star Fragments! These star fragments will vanish if they aren't collected by dawn, so prepare to hustle if you see a shooting star, but perhaps if you use a seer to help you locate them future crash sites for easier collection.

The town event log will be going up March 4th.

New Mechanic: Danger Realms
Starting in March, we are introducing a new mechanic: Danger Realms!

Basically during months with smaller events, dangerous spirit gates have a chance of appearing in the outskirts of town outside the barrier (sans the Cottage which has divine protection). Characters can explore these labyrinths to either fight monsters, have dramatic plot moments, or gather rare materials that are otherwise unavailable. These gates will be typically pulled from canons that have these kind of elements, but probably wouldn't be suitable for a gamewide event plot for various reasons (think Tokyo Xanadu, Dragon Age, Solo Leveling, Zenless Zone Zero, etc).

It should be noted that Danger Realms are OPTIONAL content as well will be typically considered very dangerous! Basically if you don't your character to engage with this stuff, just have them stay inside the city barrier and they will be a-okay.

This month, our test run first set of Danger Realms will be Eclipse from Tokyo Xanadu! While outside the barrier, experiencing intense negative emotions can cause a monster type known as Greed to show up and attempt you to drag you into their spirit realms. Greed can be defeated, but can only be harmed by magical means - meaning any normal weapons will be useless against them.

ICly, besides the Tokyo Xanadu cast, characters who either have studied a LOT about various spirit realms or are very experienced with them (think senior Black Order members and POKEGO researchers with relevant specialties) will be able to identify Greed as monsters who typically only appear in places that routinely experience horrifying levels of tragedy (think Krusnik labs). So why they are appearing in Kaisou is..... don't worry about it!

For those looking to gather materials, the following items can be found:

Elemental Crystals: Crystals that are made entirely of crystalized elemental energy. They come in any of the six elements (though Light element ones are particularly rare). When used in a craft, they will add a +3 to any corresponding elemental based action. They can also be used in any projects where pure elemental energy would be useful.

Lunar Mutton, Star Truffle, Solar Eggs: Food ingredients that can be found in Eclipses that are safe to eat. In fact if you cook with them, any meals you make with them will grant medium sized healing power! Solar Eggs in particular will fetch a lot of money if you sell them, due to city normal egg shortages.

Star Fragment: These are NOT found in the Eclipse but rather in Hyrule (read the Previous section). Star Fragments when used in crafts can make incredible light sources, shoot light-element laser beams, or be used to create strong magical armor and/or keycrests.

These items will be free to use in crafts created during the month of March. If you wish to make sure there's leftover materials AFTER march, please comment here with a linked thread of your character gathering the materials or talking about gathering them. For each of these threads linked, some of the mentioned resources will be added to the gacha goodwill inventory.

Spirit Realm Event: Fae Musical
The faeries are back in Kaisou, but this time they're not interested in kidnapping anyone or making people fight for their entertainment. Instead, they're interested in having people perform for their entertainment! They'll be setting a theater up in Kami State Park (no gate needed) and "recruiting" people to perform in their musical stage shows. And by "recruited" we do mean "taken from your beds early in the morning and forced into this". Everyone will get to go home at night, at least. They've learned their lessons and won't be keeping anyone overnight! This time.

The spirit realm event log will be going up March 15th.

Also as per usual with Fae-based plots, for the month of March the price for additional monster slot is waived, as well as characters can get 3 free monster regains. This will be available once you've been cleared for February AC and can be redeemed on the regain page.

HELLO IT IS ME I ONCE AGAIN HAVE THE QUESTIONS

1. Just to get an idea of what options are available here, for the Selkie monster type it mentions "sea mammal or waterfowl" however, since the animal wife motif that the selkie is an instance of often also features other kinds of birds (doves for example are a common one) would it be possible to use birds that aren't strictly waterbirds (e.g. raptors) or ones that can be kind of on the edge (e.g. kingfishers) as a variant type?

2. With regards to monster regains and how they work with second element types: does having an elemental monster type also count as having the underlying 'base' type? For an easy example, every element has an "elemental spirit" monster that lists Spirit as the base monster type. So if an earth element character were to get Earth Spirit, then got a second element like say fire, would the character be also able to get Fire Spirit monster regains as "spirit" is the base type for both of them?

3. For second (and third!) monster types, several base types have abilities that are locked to specific forms, like Hop for Puca, Hovering and Night Vision for Avian, etc. To what extent does this need to be specified if the additional monster type isn't the character's primary/base monster form? And how does this interact with elemental types, like if someone did a rabbit Puca and purchased Hop but then opted into Salamander that's described as a reptilian base, would that negate that ability or change the monster form? Should an Angel-type monster specify what kind of bird(s) the wings are based on/would the angel then be limited to just that type of wing? And so on like that basically. (This is an absurdly specific question I apologize!!!)


Also a minor thing that's less a question and more a request, is it possible to include a quick list of updates made to pages like element/monster stuff in the monthly OOC posts? I ask because a lot of stuff only seems to get announced in the discord which is listed as being completely optional (so players who find busy chats stressful may opt out) and also it can be really easy to lose track of/forget/be unable to find things in an active chat! So it'd be really nice to have that included in the OOC posts both for visibility and for reference, if it would be doable.
