November Plotting & CR Post

Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for November!

OOC Housekeeping

• The Zodiac Network Post will go up November 1st, with a midmonth post going up November 15th. The event log will be posted November 4th.
• If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month!
• Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord for current players! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!

World Changes

Side quests
Due to the nature of the plot, and some RL stuff popping up on the mod end, the Side quests for November will be posted at a later time! We thank you for your patience. In the meantime, you're still welcome to pick up October Side quests until the end of the month, as well as turn in any completed quests.

POKEGO Update
Those POKEGO members who experienced the HORRORS of the Event Horizon will be getting mailed a care package from Professor Oak. In it, there is a pokemon plushie, a pack of their favorite snacks (grandpa remembers), and a blend of soothing tea.

There are no missions for POKEGO this month, beyond assisting the city! In fact you will get very clear instructions that no matter how strong the temptation, do NOT study the Heartless. Weird.

Zodiac Update
After being kidnapped to another realm, Zodiac has decided to be nice and not give you another life endangering mission this month! How wonderful!

Unfortunately, you will be instead tasked with an even more stressful burden: the annual Works-giving potluck at the end of the month. Zodiac is a work culture that loves its potlucks way too much, and Works-giving is the biggest of them all. You best prepare your finest offerings, or you WILL be judged. It's even rumored that the employees that slack off will get their cubicle moved to the worst spots in the office. Better not risk it.

Black Order Update
With the Black Order back and running, the missions are coming back as well! This month, the Black Order will get tasked with assisting a trapped comrade, as well as helping out where they can in the city.

City Events
Since November is a Shadow month, the weather will be turning rather dark and cold. Winter's not quite here yet, but boy those autumn winds are biting and the night times are extra dark.

As for events around town... well, stay tune.

New Mechanic: Second Elements!
Starting in November, characters will have the option of getting a second kaisou element to obtain new abilities from! ICly, this will be considered something that's never happened before (as anytime someone could use more than one element, it was thanks to past life abilities)- and will play into the metaplot for 2025.

Due to the unusual nature of the situation, second elements will come with some hiccups. When you unlock a second element, in addition to the 2 points it'll cost to unlock, players will be asked to pick some flaws that go along with the element from a list (about 3 points worth of flaws). The flaws cannot be redeemed for extra points in gacha goodwill. After the element slot and flaws are chosen, you'll be welcome to purchase powers and any monster abilities that are locked to your new element!

Since we know having a second element will open up more options for monsters for characters, we will also be opening up the option of a third monster slot! And yes regarding Elf/Fae monsters- you still have to option to get an additional element through your monster type! It just means now you could potentially get up to three elements.

Information about purchasing second elements will be coming soon!

Plot Event: Heartless Invasion
This month's event will be based on Kingdom Hearts. Now please sit back and let me explain for the next ten hours-

Okay seriously, the barrier that was keeping Kaisou safe from the Spirit Realm will finally break down, since the one year grace period is over. With the barrier down, heartless will be appearing in Kaisou with the intent of devouring hearts and reaching the heart of the world (which the easiest way to get to that is Yggdrasil in the fortress).

As such, the entire city will be in danger! You will be tasked with battling heartless and protecting the city until a solution can be found. The heaviest fighting will be in the harbor where there will be sea battles (have fun Edward!), and the Fortress of Meropide because the Heartless REALLY want to get at Yggdrassil. If you AREN'T looking to take part in combat, there will be safe zones on Cathedral Hill and Undertown -- plus an entire area that you can help out via minigames. Because.... who doesn't love... Kingdom hearts minigames....

Meanwhile, for those looking to help fix the barrier and screw with your characters mentally - the Crystal Tower will have a solution! Unfortunately the Crystal tower will be converted into a version of Castle Oblivion- aka meaning you will slowly lose your memories as you climb it. In addition, you'll have the option to face rooms conjured from the memories of your companions (Ardyn, Byleth, Cotton, Diarmuid, Leon, Venti, and Zhongli). Some of these rooms will have NPC elements, while others will be completely player controlled.

Finally, for those interested in having an NPC group battle like in the August plot, there will be one at the top of the tower against a certain suit of armor with a lot of will.

Memories will be restored at the end of the tower, though players are welcomed to use this as an opportunity to change any details in their AUs.

With the second element thing, for characters who already have flaws, would it be possible to repay the points originally gained from those flaws, or do they strictly need to get new additional ones?

Do the pokemon transformations count as a monster slot or is that (still) an entirely separate thing?

When memories get restored at the end of the tower plot shenanigans, do they have to be all at once or can it be a bit... fuzzy and jumbled for a little while after that?

And because I just thought of it and am already here, with the item crafting system, would adding accessory slots to a friendship power bracelet be allowed? JUST the accessory slots (and I assume only the limits for modifying an existing item) since it obviously already has an ability, but like for attaching a quartz or something to it.

It's mostly A Surprise, but I will tell you there is dungeon crawling to be had and one very emotionally charged bossfight featuring an NPC guest appearance. I think we'll all have a very normal and fun time of it. Also he's getting a second element, but that's less significant. Mostly.

Event Plans:
Ragna's a little up in the air, but most likely he'll end up within Meropide fighting off the legions of Heartless and keeping them away from the Yggdrasil. He's not only got his Electro Vision powered up but a Persona he can whip out on top of his already cracked Shadow Magic. He'll be sitting pretty but also I'm subjecting him to mini games cause it's funny.

I might have him in the Tower if the mood strikes me where those abilities will become relevant, in which case my designated Meropide bitch will be someone else.

About: Pseudo-Retired Warrior of Light fresh off of a canon update still struggles to acquire a backbone but is still skilled at breaking other people's backs. Can also fit just so very much love in this man. He is small until you threaten his people then the next thing you see is the door to darkness aka hell he sent you to.
Event Plans:
Takame will be primarily around the city, seeing people to safety and keeping Heartless far away from anywhere there's people. Will likely try to set up at least one more ward where possible just to give people more space to breathe. If I send Ragna to the Tower, he'll be the one going into Meropide to keep the Heartless out of Yggdrasil.

"So, as we all know the Waver and Diarmuid in Kaisou are a canon offshoot. What I wanna do for this one is point a massive neon sign at true canon route." For the canon unfamiliar: We're going into the timeline where Diarmuid has a piece of shit for a Master for the second time in his existence.

Hiiii, guys! Guess who's back with a new fucked up boss NPC! :D It's me, Ryuu!

Fortunately, this boss is more straightforward than the one I ran with Jun Wu back in August, but he's known to have been a Challenge back in the day for Kingdom Hearts players. Anyway, depressing lore aside that you are more than free to look up on the Kingdom Hearts wikia at any time for no reason at all, this boss is literally an animated suit of armor that doesn't... really... speak. But it sure does move as if there's a human underneath it all.

This boss is primarily a physical, close-range fighter but don't underestimate it! It can absolutely reach back-line fighters because it's. It's a Kingdom Hearts boss. Hope you all have fun!! :D

He's settled into Kaisou now and is gradually trying to figure out what to do with his life now that he has no empire to reform or refugees to rescue.
Event Plans: He lives in the Fortress of Meropide, and he has his armor and gunblade, so he's going to be fighting Heartless down there.

He's going to be taking this heartless invasion so personally because his home had been run over by titans. Currently, Eren does not have his ODM gear! He'll be fighting with a pair of blades and seeing how far he can go with that.

Recently had it pointed out to her that she sees Waver and Diarmuid as family, so that's progress at least??
Event Plans: Okay if ANY of mine were practically made for a KH-themed event it's Ritsuka. That said aside from contributing where she can to the fighting, she'll be taking advantage of her group teleportation powers to help people get to safety! If you need an excuse for your character to get somewhere feel free to handwave this, though I'm open to plotting/threading stuff out too of course.

Other than that I'm tentatively planning for her to have a canon update later this month. Exact timing tbd but definitely sometime after the event stuff resolves!

Oh and she has a cool magic bracelet that if you're her friend she can maybe borrow a power from you, check it out!

Has a 'pet' griffin and is trying to deal with the fact that her cousin no longer remembers the app but she's still stuck in the middle of this craziness.
Event Plans: She's gonna be fighting things, mostly because she CAN and therefore can feel like she's actually meaningfully contributing. Beyond that I'm open to plotting!

also he went through The Space Horrors just this October so he's still kinda dealing with that! he managed to survive it without killing anyone and only getting injured, but boy did it press some trauma buttons.
Event Plans: Noctis is going through the Crystal Tower bc I'm not going to pass up an opportunity for the Final Fantasy protagonist to go through a Kingdom Hearts thing. I think it's great. he needs to go through the Ardyn room, it'll make for such a fun and awkward time for him.

About: A lovable himbo who is just starting to get some of his past life memories back! His mom was part of a weird cult before he was born that led to her being stuck in the spirit realm for a while where she met a very nice dragon and nine months later popped back out of the spirit realm to have a kid which is definitely just a coincidence. Anyway, cult didn't like her gettin' freaky with a dragon, tried to kill her and the kid which led to Ace getting possessed by his own dad in order to save them both but don't worry about it. He has literally no clue about any of that. Also, his mom has been MIA for the past year or so and he thinks she fell back into the spirit world.

Anyway, he's dumb as a box of rocks but is slowly getting over it, has very loose morals, may or may not have remembered the circumstances around the end of his previous life, collects cowboy hats religiously, and is on fire and/or asleep like 90% of the time.
Event Plans: He's. There's no way he won't try to eat the flan.

About: 7 foot tall alien from a struggling, every-man-for-themselves planet. He has a heart of gold, a brain that's like a supercomputer that he doesn't like using, and an obsession with sugar. Due to circumstances happening in the last 2 years in Kaisou, he's now also the High Priest of Spring and lives on a homestead on the outskirts of the city with his family.
Event Plans: None, this time! He's still recovering from The Horrors of last month's plot so he'll be a little quiet homebody this month. I'm still up for CR visiting or anything not-event related, though!
Anything else? The Horrors are endless but we stay silly

Character Name: Vergil
Canon: Devil May Cry
Type: Paranormal AU
About: Rich hobbyist-turned-antiquarian, Vergil left Italy and his family both to escape the stuffy life his father wanted to plan for him, as well as to look for more power after he'd awoken to several abilities. Once in Kaisou, his life flipped literally upside down, going from a lonely hermit who'd planned to be alone his whole life to a man with a family and even a partner. He owns an antiques shop in town called the Auguries of Innocence, and works part-time as a teacher and treasurer and Cygnus academy.
Event Plans: I plan to have Vergil fully involved with this plot! Fighting the Heartless and such. He will be more cautious during this event due to worrying some friends during the Revolution a few months back, so he won't go too hard this time, he promises.
Anything else? We're having war flashbacks to towers in cities, boys.

Character Name: Sung Jinwoo
Canon: Solo Leveling
Type: Ronin AU
About: Ex-Black Order member who had been recruited forcibly by the Order and had his death fabricated as a result. He used to be a K-Drama actor and was gaining fame from his role in the series 'The Three-Legged Crow's Son'. He was forced to move to America, to change his name, and abandon that lifestyle, while dealing with a cursed spirit that gives him the worst kind of luck, as well as prevents him from being in the sun too much. It's okay though, he's free now and has a new family to call his own--his fiance Lapis and his dad-Grump-in-Law, Husk.
Event Plans: He'll probably want to help around in the event as well! He's not terribly strong so he'll be playing closer to the support end of things.
Anything else? I swear I didn't lose the ring. I didn't.

Character Name: Wriothesley

Type: OU
About: Quiet and somewhat distant man with doglike features. He's very friendly with those who talk to him; especially new faces or people who need help; but spending more time with him will make it easy to realise he's somewhat socially awkward and slow to trust. He used to work as a Warden of the Fortress of Meropide in his own world--which was commonly used as a jail--but he reformed the entire place and turned it more into a society for people who couldn't handle living in the world above.
Stuck in Kaisou, he lives in a flat with his two partners Neuvillette and Furina--while also once again taking care of the Fortress but this time just as an Overseer rather than a jail Warden. he's recently taken up the task to join the Black Order to help reform it into something better, as well.
Event Plans: I have no real plans for him this month, I'm open to anything, though!
Anything else? Starting from the ground up suits us just fine.

Character Name: Sampo Koski
Canon: Honkai : Star Rail
Type: Ronin AU
About: A scattered con-man who has a silver tongue and the personality of a trickster, Sampo loves nothing more than to play tricks on people or play games. It's not just for fun, though, as it's due to the fact that he has the God of Elation sitting in his brain. The Black Order knew this, and used to do everything they could to trap him for recruitment, but he managed to stay away from them, cleverly, for years. Free of them now, he's getting up to all sorts of trouble in Kaisou and just enjoying his new, free life.
Event Plans: He's gonna accidentally equip his Cruxis Crystal this month and start a fall down a whole lot of trouble for himself. Please help.
Anything else? We can't mansplain, manipulate, malewife our way out of this one.
