July Plotting & CR Post

Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for July!

OOC Housekeeping

• The Zodiac Network Post will go up July 1st, with a midmonth post going up July 15th. The first half of the event log will be posted July 4th, with the second half going up July 8th.
• If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month!
• Interested in playing an NPC affiliated with the Black Order? We're still taking volunteers for August! The deadline is July 20th.
• The July AU & CR Workshop is up! On there is information about the upcoming Zodiac Employee and Ronin AU options.
• Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord for current players! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!

World Changes

• Applin are now amongst Kaisou's apple trees
• The Yellow Brick Sidewalk will now help you get you where you need to go.
• Grudgby is now played in Kaisou!
• Trash Alicorns are now eating your garbage
• And a plethora of sea creatures from Fontaine now swim in the Kaisou Harbor.

Side quests
Just a note that we will NOT be having new Side Quests for July! This is because after a couple years, we've decided it's time to do a re-haul of the side quest system and require time to do that. Unless something goes horribly wrong, you can expect side quests to make a return in August.

As for June side quests, you can sign up for side quests from June until July 1st. After that you're still allowed to turn in the completed quests at anytime, you just won't be able to pick up more.

POKEGO Update
POKEGO had a productive month! Two apprentices (Eunie and Zhongli) graduated into full members. And thanks to Waver's performance in the Vogue's drag competition, POKEGO now has an additional $5000 to spend on whatever projects they wish. Nice work guys!

Finally thanks to Gilgamesh's funding, POKEGO members are now paid a livable wage. Keep sending weird looking dogs to the billionaire okay?

This month, POKEGO will be having a calmer month. They will be holding a booth at the anime convention in which they will show Pokemon of their choosing to visitors. Otherwise they will be basking in the joy that's not being the other factions this month.

Black Order Update
So bad news, you guys won't be getting paid this month again.

And badder news, the Black Order will be making active attempts to kill you. On July 4th, any Black Order member with an address known to the Order will be raided by humanoid mechs with guns and weapons. These mechs will be programmed to attack any of the Kaisou Black Order team, though can be persuaded to attack non-black order characters should they prove to be enough of a nuisance.

In addition, if you wish, during the raid they may also get house visits from our three Zealots: Shay Cormac (played by Effy), Berserker Cu (played by Kyah), and Homura Akemi (played by Saffy). None of these NPCs may be killed BEFORE the second half of the event log is put up, but feel free to contact these players if you want run-ins with them either during the raids, or some other point before the end of the plot.

Introducing: Zodiac!
This month, a selection of Zodiac employees will be joining the app! After the Black Order's raid, Zodiac will be incensed enough to take a more active role in this conflict. As such, the first batch of Zodiac AU characters will be tasked with helping the other App user characters put a stop to the Black Order's actions by acting as support.

These brave employees will be given devices that will activate barriers and also has the ability to neutralize magical powers for a couple minutes. Use these well so you don't die.

Afterwards, either Zodiac employees will begin remembering their past lives OR Zodiac will finally take them seriously about anyone whose already been remembering. These Zodiac employees will be allowed to join the Libra app and be tasked with continued assistance of the other app users.

City Events
Since July is the summer water element month, expect everything to be humid. Rain and severe storms will happen throughout the month, while even dry days will feel like you're walking through soup. Do your best to keep cool!

And with July comes the annual Kaisou Anime Convention! During the weekends through the month, Kaicon will be running out of the Civic Center. Get your best cosplay on and have a nerdy good time. Just so no one has to miss it due to [checks notes] getting shot at, the convention will be going on throughout the month.

Special Event: Fortress of Meropide
This month's event will be based on the Genshin Impact, specifically the Fontaine arc! After the Black Order characters are attacked, player characters will discover that the Zealots's are launching from their attack from the Fortress of Meropide which they spent the month of June magically moving into Kaisou Harbor from Denmark.

They will learn that the Fortress of Meropide has been in the possession of the Order for a long time, but the only people who have been aware of its existence are the Unyielding who lead the Order, their handpicked Zealots, and the prisoners that have been locked inside. For centuries, it's been used as a holding facility for anyone the Order felt best to lock away.

It'll be up to player characters to get into the Fortress, deal with the Zealots, and bring the fortress under their control. After the plot, the Fortress of Meropide will remain in Kaisou, where ownership will be given back to Wriothesley. This plot is considered a lead in for the August plot, which will be about taking down the current leadership of the Order.

Due to the sheer amount of stuff going on, the event log will be broken down into two updates:

July 4th (aka July 3rd at 6pm EST): First half! This will contain town events, Kaicon, the July 4th raid against TBO, Zodiac AUs introduction, and the journey to reach the fortress. There will be a ship-based battled against Shay Cormac as well.

July 8th (aka July 7th at 6pm EST): Storming the Fortress, Ronin AU introductions, battling Homura and Cu, and the conclusion of the event.

If you wish to play either a Zodiac Employee that's involved with helping in this event log or a Ronin AU that has been held prisoner at the Fortress of Meropide, please let the mod team know ASAP and have your character app submitted by June 30th @ 11:59pm EST. We will be holding a special app round July 1st in order to approve the apps of characters being introduced in this plot. Any new character apps that are NOT part of the special app round will intro into the game in a more standard fashion.

hello it’s Effy I come bearing another ship-based thing!

so much like Edward Kenway, Shay Patrick Cormac also has a ship from the eighteenth century! it’s a sloop-of-war called the Morrigan, and while it’s smaller than the Jackdaw, it’s also more manueverable and it has more ammunition. and also more modern-day weapons. and also gardemeks.

the biggest problem here will be trying to get to and board the ship without getting pulverized by mortars or cannon fire. (Shay is a very squishy boss even with body armor on, he’s more just a very pesky stealth-based miniboss.) which is where you guys come in! here is the plotting comment for How Do We Get On The Morrigan In The First Place (and what to do with it after Shay dies).

CRASHES IN HERE LIKE THE FUCKING KOOL-AID MAN

So hi all, it's Kyah! Meet Cú Chulainn Alter, of Ulster mythology and fate/Grand Order fame. Where the original Cú Chulainn is a cocky hero who truly means well and wishes to help people, Cú Alter is the opposite. He's a monster of a man, one who does not give a fuck about much at all, save for fighting, and even then he doesn't really care if he lives or dies.

In this life, he's a zealot and more importantly, a team eradicator for The Black Order. For most in The Black Order, his name is known, but he's hardly ever seen by Guardians (unless you're a cleaner [hi Lapis])- some members even joke that he's this enigma meant to just scare people into compliance. Unfortunately, he's very much real, and him coming to Kaisou means the Kaisou team is no longer considered reliable or useful to the organization.

After the July 4th raids, Cú will be wandering Kaisou freely, looking for the targets he's meant to take out. This means he's open for confrontation and fighting, should your character wish to do so! Fighting Cú 1v1 will be very dangerous, however, with a possibility of your character being injured or maimed. He will not attack someone unless attacked first, or if you're a target for the Black Order- these are rules he's been given and learned the hard way what happens when he breaks them. So if you just wanna see him and poke the monster and not get your head bitten off, he's around for conversation too. I'm pretty much open for a lot- he can absolutely get injured, but his big final fight will be in Meropide (where he’s going to die, please murder this dog), so he won't be sticking around for fights for very long. His fight in Meropide is going to be the one focusing on just pure fighting, and it's going to be dangerous and tough- but he will be put down at the end of it.

As a side note, he's going to be himself on the network- and by that, I mean he's going to be a complete bastard and asshole and purposely rile and piss people off to make stupid decisions, like going to fight him. I would apologize for his rancid behavior but he's a vile monster who honestly needs to be put down at the end of the event, PLEASE KILL HIM.

ZEALOT: HOMURA

Saffy here, with one of the most tragic lesbians of all time, Homura Akemi! She is a magical girl who made a contract that requires her to defeat monsters or else she will turn into a monster herself.

Homura, in canon, turned back time hundreds of times in order to try to save the life of the one she loved. Lacking that kind of power in her Kaisou reincarnation meant that she had to make a deal with the devil and the Black Order to protect that person. Since then, she's been in their employ, her steely determination ensuring the job gets done no matter how horrible it is.

Homura is very driven and not very friendly. She has her orders, and will be rather elusive as her only appearances around the city will be to attempt to kill or injure targets so they are less of a threat to the Black Order. After the initial ambush, she will be part of the garrison crew inside of Meropide, tasked with pumping intruders full of lead and C4.

Homura uses her ability to temporarily stop time to turn guns and even machines against her opponents, but anyone using magic will have a tactical advantage since she is rather mundane outside of the time stopping effect and the fact that magical girls are basically lifeless dolls with their souls stuck inside gems.

If you'd like to have an encounter with Homura outside of the final confrontation, lmk and we can hash things out!

About: Usually underground-dwelling warden of a very large fortress called Meropide. Jack of many trades, master of only one; Wriothesley is a bit of a withdrawn man who really likes tea, music, and learning new things. He's someone who can recognise the talents of others and always tries to push them to be their best selves; despite knowing how dark one's heart can be. He doesn't like a big spotlight and prefers to live a quiet life away from any sort of worship or attention.
Event Plans: That's his house that just showed up in the harbour. He's going to go full-force into getting it back; as Meropide is supposed to be a place of new beginnings and repentance, a growth of self with a fresh start. Seeing it being used as a workshop and lair to those who would use its facilities for ill reasons will upset him greatly and he will do anything to wrench control of his beloved home back.

Which means he will willingly offer to aid those involved with the villains in the harbour to get to the heart of it, given he knows that fortress and all its complicated mechanisms like he knows his own heart.

With a mix of stealth skills, the ability to shapeshift and change his voice; Sampo's been a difficult man to pin down thanks to his desire to be free; and due to the God in his brain wanting to have fun.
Event Plans: He's going to want to stay the HELL away from the Order, so he's going to continue helping out folks down in Ghost City to get the hell out and hiding out in Gilgamesh's teapot.

About: Ex-KDrama star whose life abruptly came to an end after experiencing an accident that should have taken his life. He was rescued by a shadowy spirit whose only goal is to see Jinwoo give up, and is otherwise quiet, biding its time for when Jinwoo decides he's done with life before taking over his body. Due to this partnership, Jinwoo experiences hellishly bad luck; a sort of 'what can go wrong, will go wrong' has followed him since that day. Starting with being picked up by the Black Order. He now lives a completely different life with no family or friends from his past; but after the last year, those he's come close to in Kaisou are his new family and reason for living. His past life shows him a powerful being who had nearly no equal, and yet in this life he's honestly kind of weak with no large amount of fighting skill; but due to the supports and friendships he's made, he's less worried about being weak, these days.
Event Plans: He and his family are going to be attacked by one of the Zealots near the beginning and his home is going to be destroyed; which will leave him and those he's living with stranded without a roof over their head for a while. He's already steeled himself to fight the Order and see Jusis reform it, and this instance will just redouble his determinations. He knows who killed Theresa and still won't tell anyone, either.

About: Half-Devil Antiques dealer with a huge chip on his shoulder and a problem with communicating with others. He's a hermit by nature and a shut-in by habit and prefers the company of only himself--but this has been changing as of recent thanks to his new-old family coming into his life; remembering who he was in a past life; and his relationship with Kaisou's most personable individual. Once a bookish nerd who cared for little more than collecting treasures, books, and weapons for his personal hoard, he's; as of recently, become a little more social and can even understand the emotions of others a little easier than others.
He's also Italian so don't fucking snap pasta in front of him.
Event Plans: Black Order has made themselves pests in his eyes; both fucking around with his friends and those who work for him. As a result of his Devil Nature, he now holds a seeding, growing grudge for them and it won't take much to convince him to offer his hand in a battle against them.

About: Old, tired, grumpy alcoholic demon. He's a former Overlord of Hell who gambled and lost his soul to one of the worst demons that's ever existed- like a pro. There's a lot of trauma there, he doesn't wanna talk about it. The aforementioned demon forced Husk to work as a bartender/concierge in a demon rehab hotel where he started to give a shit about people despite himself. In his AU, he got brought in by the Order in his 20s and has been there for 40 years working as both a mentor for younger recruits and a spy because he can read people like a book. He's pretty fucking miserable about being under their thumb but refuses to attempt to leave while his family (especially his daughter) are trapped there.
Event Plans: Husk is staying with Lapis and Jinwoo for the holiday which means he's in the line of fire when their places gets destroyed by Zealots this month. He's deeply protective of his family so he'll be ready to defend them and the people he cares about (even if he will never admit that he cares about them). He's gonna be around a lot for the event- luckily he can heal from just about anything that can be thrown at him unless it's a holy weapon so... yay? If you're someone he's actually started giving a shit about (as in, had at least 2 conversations with him) he will trying to make sure you don't do anything stupid to get yourself killed. Looking specifically at you, Diarmuid.

About: Goddess of Spring and Queen of the Dead. She is really mad about the whole forced marriage thing. She murdered Hades and isn't even slightly sorry about it. She has a boatload of trust issues and tends to keep people at an arm's length, but she is learning to deal with that here, slowly.
Event Plans: The Black Order don't matter much to her, she's seen countless cults in her time- she's HEADED cults in her time. But these people are a threat to the people of Kaisou, whom she feels at least a little responsibility over as one of the resident deities. She'll be joining in some fights to protect the city... and also because honestly, she likes fighting. Will likely bring best boy Cerberus into the battle because him want bite.

As for which encounters he'll be part of that depends cause Waver who notoriously avoids the sea is his Master so that just Depends but he will be very in the mix during any raid. Event Plans: Rose is going to be good this time, and although she's going to run into BerserCu, she's not going to actually try to fight him! Not solo, anyway. She learned something from May. Verbally antagonism is still on the board, though.

Mainly, for the event, she's gonna be focused on Meropide. Furina is one of her people and Wrio went after her in her dungeon, so she's gonna try to help them clean out the fortress.

Event Plans: Mostly watching in alarm and horror as terrible things start happening to the people around him? He's generally fit and I'm going to start giving him magic power regains, but this AU version has no fighting experience yet and this month does not look like a level 1-10 starter zone to me. Anyone who needs hiding from an obvious aggressor is welcome to take shelter at his place though, he is having absolutely none of that.

Now she's officially her adopted dad's daughter and has people she can rely on for support. Lapis still struggles a lot with self-esteem issues and her worth as a person but she is trying her best - but all she really wants is for her and her family to be free.

Event Plans: Lapis once again tormented by Fate dudes -

SO due to the nature of her role in the Order, she's one of the lucky few who know Cu and knows him more than she wants to; they have an intensely volatile relationship and she's gonna want to bite him. Once he attacks her and her family's home during the raid (rip Jinwoo's flat) she'll absolutely be making a post about him on Gemini. Please don't fight the dog she is begging you please don't touch the dog-

Otherwise she'll be going full force during this event and will be very, very protective of her family and friends. Luckily her dad and boyfriend will scruff her from doing anything too dangerous, because do as she says and not as she do.

Event Plans: HELLO THERE ARE THINGS TO FIGHT PLS LET KNUCKLES HELP FIGHT THEM--I mean. No actually I mean that. He's still not used to how Kaisou has deprived him of some of his usual power and will probably be getting some fun new elemental powers whenever I get my act together but the kid's adaptable and a fast learner, he can still totally pull his weight. Really!!

About: Cheerful, friendly, outgoing, and packed with way more trauma under the surface than anyone her age ought to. Apparently that's what happens when you spend 3+ years saving the world from various threats instead of going to high school. Sort of got "killed" the other month except not really because whoops apparently she's immortal now, sucks to be her huh.
Event Plans: Whether she actually fights or not is up in the air, but you better believe Ritsuka intends to be involved to whatever extent she can! Aside from her familiarity with a certain zealot Berserker (spoilers: there is no trick to beating him, just "keep hitting until he STAYS down", sorry guys) she does have quite a bit of experience in figuring out tactics for ragtag groups of heroes facing impossible odds, so there's that.

She also now has maxed-out healing, which means she can revive one person per month, provided she gets there in time. Though she doesn't actually know this yet, oops. But I am absolutely down for plotting stuff if anyone wants to take advantage of this being an option. Oh, and she got a nifty bracelet recently, too!

About: Midwestern gal who likes sports and swordfighting and was working on getting her career off the ground when a weird app showed up on her phone. Things have only gotten weirder since, and she's distinctly less than thrilled about it. Has a 'pet' griffin and is trying to deal with the fact that her cousin no longer remembers the app but she's still stuck in the middle of this craziness.
Event Plans: So Meredith, being earth element, is pretty much an honest to goodness tank that can hit like a truck at this point, so. If anything needs fighting she will gladly help fight it! Just don't ask her how she's coping at this point, she doesn't really wanna talk about it.

She will probably be working on looking after The Jackdaw with Bailey, but if there's something else she can do, regardless of how safe it will or won't be, she honestly will be willing to try. It'll be hard to keep her on or around the ship for longer than she's strictly needed once things start going down. If anyone important to her is in danger, she's going to want to help them! I'm bad at putting ideas into words, come at me?

Edward is getting a fun little canon update that will conveniently knock him out for the first half so I don’t have to worry about him trying to stab Shay himself, so he’ll go to sleep a pirate and wake up a fully-fledged Assassin from 1725 in the midst of a Piece of Eden hunt that took him to Southeast Asia. he’ll be peeved he missed the Templar.
Event Plans: he’s napping from the 3rd to a day after whenever Shay gets got. afterward tho he’ll be joining in on the fortress raid! he’s friends with a lot of people in TBO and he, historically, has not had the most diplomatic of reactions to zealots hurting people he cares about.

Event Plans: ANIME CONVENTION TIME. local nerd rolls up to Kai-con dressed as Donquixote Rosinante bc I find VA jokes very funny. and then he’ll find out the Black Order’s made its move and immediately end up playing support on the sidelines—likely he’ll be tagging along with his medical kit, his many healing potions, and his shield to the big fortress raid.

About: rookie cop walks into a zombie apocalypse on his first day on the job. this somehow makes him qualified to train as a government agent meant to go after zombies and the like. yeah it’s been very traumatic for him. in this life, his job lasted a week before his precinct was besieged by demons and so many of his friends got killed or cursed, and he ended up coerced into the Black Order so his best friend would be safe. he’s fully in with the rebellion now, though, and willing to go after the zealots for what they’re doing.
Event Plans: which means he’s going to get seriously injured in the first attack and not be available for the fortress raid as a result! he’s just as mad about it too. he does have low-level regen so he’ll just need a little less time to heal up than most, but still. 😔 kick their asses for him guys.

About: young woman is found floating through space in a chunk of ice, when she’s thawed out she realizes she can’t remember anything, even her name, and thus takes the name March 7th after the date she woke up! March is a Nameless of the Astral Express, which essentially means she’s kind, heroic, and always willing to explore new places and connect with new people. she just came in this June and all her friends are reincarnated and also like So Gay, it’s wild. currently she’s sleeping at Caleb’s place and avoiding his weird cousin who rants about fish.
Event Plans: she’s also joining the fortress raid! because those Black Order guys hurt her friends and she won’t stand for that! she’s a shielder who can only cast her shield on one person at a time, and her arrows have a chance of finding the mark and freezing her opponent, so she’ll be taking a very active role in combat and a less active one in puzzles. don’t make her break her brain on them. thanks.

Event Plans: Yeah, so someone else has Had It with TBO's nonsense. He's helping out with the raid. Also, I'm planning for him to start putting that wood carving skills he got a couple months (and the sewing skills he got even earlier) back to use--grabbing magic item crafting and extreme elemental imbuement. So if y'all want, like, things carved from wood for character equipment (charms, simple accessories, etc), feel free to hit me up after I've gotten that in!

Yasuho is a therapist-hopeful, studying her way there and balancing that with at-home secretary work for Gil. She's also spent the last month riding the high of Light Element Benefits and getting to know a new therapist, so she's pretty set to vent off some steam.
Event Plans: OH LOOK, A TARGET FOR HER TO VENT STEAM! Yasuho has the Cloak of the Depths, not to mention a tidy little support kit that happens to include useful things like 'Sense Presence' (100 foot limit, but still p good). And also I guess she can turn into something you could ride, but that's probably less helpful in a fortress raid.

Event Plans: Her summer plans are mostly visiting the library and reading. But Eve will likely join the water fight and maybe get dragged along to the anime convention depending on who goes. Considering the last time there was danger she snuck in to help, she's almost certainly not gonna be allowed into the Fortress. That said, she will try to help protect the city and check in on folks after the news breaks out. Just in a more supportive role. If someone if nervous and wants a smol bodyguard, she's available.

Now Danielle is a young adult who moved to Kaisou for college, then stuck around even after she dropped out. She's working odd jobs to get by and earn enough to finish her degree. Her passion for dance remains, but she hasn't quite realized why yet.
Event Plans: Dani is not the type to go to the anime con, so she'll mostly be suffering in the heat. The attack and Black Order hostility has her attention, but while she is pissed, Dani doesn't quite feel like this is a task she can handle (yet). She'll offer vocal or moral support, possibly volunteering at the Vogue for this.
