Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for March!

OOC Housekeeping

• The Zodiac Network Post will go up March 1st, with a midmonth post going up March 15th. An event log will be posted on March 4th.
• If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month!
• For anyone whose obtained a Vision through gacha goodwill, a guide on how to use them has been written up!
• Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord for current players! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!

World Changes

• The TM Thunderfang is now available for eligible pokemon!
• The Krusty Krab can be found in the bottom of Kaisou's harbor off the beach.
• Spirit Trees can now be found around Cathedral Hill

Side quests
Side quests for March are now available! February quests are now no longer available to sign up for, but you can redeem quest logs for gacha points.

POKEGO Update
POKEGO had a productive month, between helping the Black Order resolve the Love potion fiasco and also helping out with Cupid. For the month of March, they've been requested in assisting with the Fae and try to further research that.... special culture.

Black Order Update
Black Order has had an eventful month! After sealing a nefarious love potion maker, the potion maker met an unfortunate accident at the hands of Ardyn. Oh no. So sad. Meanwhile, the Zealot Teresa made her presence known in Kaisou... much to the joy of everyone.

This month, the Black Order will be tasked with doing what they can to make sure the Fae stay in their realm and resolving whatever new issue they have now. Not only that but sometime during this month, the dead body of Teresa will be making an appearance. Stay tune!

City Events
Spring time is here in Kaisou. To mark the arrival of spring, there will be celebrations for St. David's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and the Equinox. The Equinox in particular will have a festival in Blue Fish Lake Park where there will be various shrines to nature and spring deities set up. If you happen to know any, maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to set one up...

Otherwise, March marks the month of Easter! To celebrate, there will be an easter egg hunt! Unfortunately someone's gotten a little too zealous and enchanted the eggs to have lil legs. Oops!

Free Monster Changes
March has become our monster month, and so the tradition continues! Starting now and ending March 31st, every character is eligible for 3 free monster changes*. There is no maximum point value on these changes, and you can also unlock a second monster type free of charge for the month. We have recently overhauled and added more monster changes to be purchased, so please check those out!

Any free monster changes should be redeemed through the regain post. Thanks!

* God-related regains are not eligible for free regains

Spirit Realm Event: Tír na nóg
Along with the free monster changes, comes our very favorite pains in the asses- that's right, the fae are back! This year, the Fae have decided to settle their differences by holding the Fae Olympics .... which basically means they'll be kidnapping/strongarming people into competing into various dangerous competitions for them.

Characters will be sorted into two teams: Characters who are Fire, Earth or Light element will be on Team Seelie and be given light colored cottagecore uniforms. Meanwhile characters who are Water, Wind or Shadow element will be Team Unseelie and dress like a bunch of goths. Characters who don't have an element will get their team chosen via coinflip.

These competitions include:

• A Dance competition (with ribbons)
• A marathon
• A duel between libra app users

Characters who partake in this plot will be expected to compete in at least ONE of these competitions (but are welcome to compete in all of them!). As for the duel, these will be 1v1 or 2v2 duels in which characters will face off against each other in fights where they will be allowed all their powers and weapons. There will be healers around (either fae or player-characters), but if you go so hard you kill each other... the death permission post is here.

Players are welcomed to decide amongst themselves which characters are dueling and can duel as many times as they like. For anyone who threads out a duel, they can turn in the thread to the regain post and gain a free regain that's worth 3 points or less from an element different from their own. Threads must contain at least 3 comments from your character, and you can only turn in one thread per character for a free regain.

The free regain offer is open to any character that participates in the duel, regardless of who wins or loses. There are no rewards to winning, so we ask that everyone please handle this part of the plot in a calm and mature manner. If you need help deciding who will win/lose your match, please comment below and the mods will happily do a coin toss.

if we already decided on partners for a 2v2, is it okay to shove both characters into the partner finder form?

Am I understanding correctly that gaining a second monster type is free in addition to the 3 free changes? So a character could gain a second type AND get up to 3 changes for free?

Also, with the new system for monster changes, if a character picked/picks a monster type that's not elementally-locked initially, then acquires an element, would they also be able to regain that element's monster abilities as well? Specifically I'd always had hyena in my back pocket for Meredith here should she roll monster changes, which was classified under canine when I asked, and I'm curious whether that would allow her to also get Cu Sith traits later since she's earth element, or would that no longer be an option at that point?

Oh one more thing! Are elemental traits that apply to all monsters within the element drawing from the monster common feature list or the actual elemental powers, when they appear in both? For example earth monsters all get "enhanced strength" so would that be up to the 4 point version listed in the monster traits, or up to the 8 point version in earth elemental powers?

hello I am back with more questions I'm sorry

so for the duel regains, if a character were to regain an ability that has multiple power levels at the 3 point level, would they be able to spend points later to upgrade it? Like if a non-wind element character got flight, which the lowest rank is 3 points, would it be possible to later spend an additional point to boost it to high speed flight, etc?

Also I was curious, is the mermaid tail under water element supposed be a thing that happens any time a character is wet, or something the character can choose to do it or not but only when wet, since "wet transformation" is its own flaw? That and when it says "mermaid tail or fins" does that mean that just have limbs turn into separate fins instead of a single mermaid-style tail would also be an option?

Character Fighting Abilities: Hellishly good at hand-to-hand combat, a hard-hitting boxing style that he augments using his thrown punches with a pair of giant metal gauntlets that can push out waves of ice--and thanks to Blade, can also cause bursts of wind, as well.
How your character will approach the fight: He will go all out to a point. He will never try to kill his opponent, but he will do his best to get them to a knockout. He doesn't like losing.
Fight Difficulty: I'd say at least a 6 or 7. Wriothesley managed to win an entire fortress due to fistfighting everyone so hard that he chased out the warden of the literal jail he was being held in out of fear of meeting him in the ring. Mixed with his hardy body and hard-hitting ice magic (he is the literal example of Punch Wizard Casts Fist,) he will be a hard opponent to get down. However, while he can regain stamina when successfully dealing damage to his opponents and therefore fight for a long period of time--he doesn't have any sort of supernatural healing or strength greater than that of his monster type. (Elf, Hellhound.)

Character Name: Takame Kesi
Team: Seelie, technically speaking.

Character Fighting Abilities: Primarily a Gunbreaker, so a tank but can absolutely go hand to hand if need be and may in some cases prefer it. He can breathe fire as well and has a Persona but it's unlikely he'll utilize the latter. He's got the friendship power bracelet too but again, unlikely to be used. More likely than the Persona, though. He's also got self healing and a lot of defensive techniques.
How your character will approach the fight: Opponent dependent, but 95% of the time he will not hold back an inch. He will not, however, kill his opponent but if he's not called off he may go a little bit too aggressive and hurt them severely. Typically his aim is either disarming (like removing weapon from their hands not Literal) or a flat KO. He's got defensive techniques but he will fight HYPER AGGRESSIVELY.
Fight Difficulty: I'd say a generous 7 or so, this is someone who has fought god like beings but he was not alone. He's not invincible especially not if you exploit his tendency towards recklessness but he is still not just a Warrior of Light but also a trained military soldier so you're not going to have the easiest time of it.

Character Fighting Abilities: So, uh. A lot.

Since Jun doesn't care that much about winning, he'll adjust his fight style based on his opponent's power levels. In all his fight styles, the guy has enhanced strength, reflexes, speed, and endurance. He may be prone to teleporting as well, but that depends on the fight.

Pure Melee fight: Jun will use his Warrior Dressphere to be mostly a pure melee combatant with a great sword. He's proficient with a sword, but he won't use any powers in this mode.

Basic Powered Fight: He will rely solely on his own innate powers for this fight, which means in addition to sword fighting he'll have access to telekinesis, earth/plant powers, and his monster transformation (which atm is just dove unsure if I'll add more) so things like flight and levitation are also on the table.

Armatus Mode: Jun and Mikleo will fuse into a magical girl mode. This will allow him full access to Mikleos water/ice powers and receive a HUGE power buff. This is basically the hardest he'll be willing to go with mortal characters.

Seal Knight Mode: He will only use this form if your character is unkillable, but basically it'd allow him access to his full holy knight powers. Basically expect extremely powerful light magic and loads of pain.

How your character will approach the fight: Jun truly is not interested in killing anyone, so he'll just scale his power based on his opponent. Winning's nice but he's honestly not that interested in it. Win or lose they complete the mission so he don't care.

Fight Difficulty: A RANGE. He'll adjust to your level, with his max capping out close to the 9 range.

Character Name: Husk
Team: Unseelie

Character Fighting Abilities: He's great at ranged combat and quick in-and-out again meele. He has playing cards which are as strong and sharp as throwing knives, and he can also charge dice and cards up to explode. He will throw all of these at you. He's got quick reflexes and can fly. He has low levels of water conjuration/manipulation. By the time this plot rolls around, he'll have regained his demonic regeneration, meaning he'll heal from most non-fatal injuries within minutes. Finally, he is not opposed to using his fangs and claws if he has to.
How your character will approach the fight: Husk will want this to be over sooner rather than later. He'd keep his distance with his ranged attacks and slide in there with a close-up slice with his knife cards if he saw a person's guard down enough to be out of grabbing range again as soon as possible.
Fight Difficulty: Probably a 5. He's agile and will rely on ranged combat- but he is not strong. If you can grab hold of him and keep hold of him, you can bring him down pretty easily. He's an old man and probably doesn't have the stamina for a long-length brawl. If you have any holy weapons, these will do significant damage to him. He also has a -4 bad luck debuff working against him.

Character Fighting Abilities:
Melee: Rose has training as a reaper. What that means is: she uses a big scythe, and she has a demon friend to back her up. Unfortunately, she's not very good at melee fighting without her demon friend, so if you wear her down, she loses a lot of her power.

Her weapon is a Soul Device, and she can use it to vampire other people's health for hers?

Rose's biggest threat, however, is her healing. She's a gifted healer and will try to heal anything that she suffers.

She also has some wind magic courtesy of her vision, and some illusion powers courtesy of being light element.

How your character will approach the fight: She'll do her best. She's good at healing, but she's also easy to tire out. If your character manages to keep her on the ropes enough, she'll get to tired to use her demon friend and be easy prey.
Fight Difficulty: 5.

Team: Technically Seelie

Character Fighting Abilities: Saber Class Servant and Dual Wielder. Obviously he has both his swords, but he does still have his spears that he can carry with him and will use either weapon. Relatively balanced in terms of both strength and speed, but might lean a little more into speed. He's Earth element but doesn't have anything for utilizing that in combat. He DOES however have a Hydro vision and has had it for long enough that he's become well versed in using it. He's also got the full Superhuman Str/Spd/End combo.
How your character will approach the fight: Carefully and tactically, but he will also not hold back. He won't approach lethally but it would not be appropriate for him to give anything but his all. Like with Takame this is somewhat opponent dependent but he is incredibly powerful especially as a Saber so be mindful.
Fight Difficulty: I want to say at his strongest and least amount of pulled punches, an 8. This is a Saber class we're talking about and even if he uses his spears he's still got a Saber's parameters. This is kind of variable and for the sake of it I'll say he might be slightly disadvantaged using his lances. Regarding his Noble Phantasms with his lances... I haven't figured out how that shit works since he's a Saber now we'll just say they're turned off unless I'm allowed to have the magic and healing cancellation. He's extremely not invincible especially against you know RNGesus, the fickle beast he is.

I should note that against ranged he will struggle a fair bit more.

Event Plans: Ritsuka, being Ritsuka, honestly needs very, very little encouragement to be talked into helping out, so she will almost certainly be taking part in at least some of the competitions! I'm definitely not opposed to her getting forced into a duel, either, regardless of power level of her opponent, but that would obviously need to be something to be discussed a bit! Other than that she's almost certainly gonna get stuck with more monster stuff because I'm mean, I just don't know WHAT yet.

Event Plans: She really doesn't WANT to get involved with more magical bs, which means she's likely going to end up forced into it anyway. She would, if we're being honest, actually enjoy a duel, especially with someone on a similar or slightly stronger power level! Other than that she is very interested in learning more about how possessions work and how to free someone from them for the sake of helping her cousin, so that's a thing too.

About: Third year journalism student who is currently having a life crisis with trying to hide his water magic and is stuck as a cursed flying selkie.
Event Plans: Jamie is probably more interested in the Saint Patrick’s celebrations as his family does have Irish lineage and the Equinox festivities too. May even throw in more trouble for him with free monster stuff of the selkie and the general avian type because why not traumatize him even further.

Meanwhile I might consider putting up him on Team Unseelie much to his horror but on the 2v2 duel matches since he has water magic and he really needs a fighting partner too. He is typical wizard squishy thus a need for a fighting partner. If anyone wants to join him, feel free to plot with him. Cue impending memories of the Dueling Club

Until Teresa's body is found he'll still be staying on the side of caution. He's lowkey been poking his nose into TBO's affairs too, so. He's worried about you guys ok.

About: local pirate stumbles right into his series' big myth arc by complete accident and undergoes the most painful character development arc in that series by far. has been taken right after breaking out of prison and having to carry a good friend's corpse out with him, and on top of that he learned recently about his wife's death, so he's a little fucked up about that, and is slowly thinking about hey maybe the Assassins were not, in fact, wrong.
Event Plans: Edward is also sitting out March's big event for the most part, but not bc he's taking a break, he's been selected to Do A Murder this month so haha that's gonna. be happening soon. he'll only inform like two people it was him outright and keep his trap shut for the most part, and the method of assassination is a lot more subtle than "descend from on high to kill someone," but his CR is free to guess it was him since he has a lot of motive. he just won't be confirming it!

also he'll be mourning his poor chunky rum and trying to fight a crab for it.

her past life is Lucy Westenra, aka the sweet ingenue in Dracula who has THREE suitors (fuck yeah) and a bad case of turning-into-vampire-itis (less yay). she has not said shit about that yet but I'm waiting for it to drop with great anticipation.
Event Plans: I'm gonna lean harder into her radio station job and have her show up to cover the celebrations in the park, and run around collecting Easter eggs that have LEGS why do they have LEGS good LORD. otherwise she's just gonna vibe this month and I'm planning to focus mostly on low-key threads with her.

About: rookie cop's first week on the job goes completely to hell, and in the aftermath, to save his friend, he ends up signing up for the Black Order. incidentally, in his past life, his first day on the job ALSO went to hell, but that was bc of zombies and this time around it was bc of demons. came to Kaisou in December and simply decided to join in on the revolution fun bc he's sick of the Order's shit and believes in changing it for the better.
Event Plans: besides the inevitable fallout from Teresa's death (all the more reason for him to want to punt Edward through a window), Leon will also be whisked away to join the Fae Olympics! the Faelympics. he'll be very careful with his words, and as a Light-element guy he'll be whisked into Team Seelie, pls save him from the cottagecore vibes he will Melt. he's good with marathons and if they unleash monsters he will protect both Seelie and Unseelie team members. I'm also gonna sign him up for a duel if people want a Normal/Hard mode fight—challenging, but not unbeatable.

About: local game developer is Going Through It, from having been fired last year to his dad dying in November to finding out that it was demons that killed him to dealing with Ardyn to going through the Crystal Tower to standing watch over the gate during the whole thing with Blade to finding out his close friend had a near-death experience. so he's been having a rough time, in between fishing and putting a game together and putting a gaming company together. but at least he has an Oshawott named Fluvius!

his past life, not that he knows much about it, is that of a prince who went on a road trip to go get married to his childhood crush and then his home got wrecked in a surprise attack while he was away, and now he and his friends are on the run from the Empire, and on top of that there's this whole prophecy thing? and also he is kind of another fantasy Jesus figure? yeah, two fantasy Jesus figures in one game, thanks, FF.

About: Rosie is a hypersexual nightmare dressed up like a daydream; despite being all sunshine and smiles, she's hiding the fact that she's literally a monster who is supposed to eat people. Emphasis on the supposed to though because, well, she doesn't want to! That's kind of the whole issue. Rosie just wants to be a normal everyday person and live a boring albeit musical life.

She tends to be very friendly and personable but people will realize after a short while she's not very forthcoming about herself and tends to deflect on difficult topics more than she doesn't. Surface-level casual knowledge is fine, thanks. Do not perceive her beyond that.

Event Plans:

❥ I'm brand new, so I'm interested specifically in side quests and more generic world stuff to start! She's a bit of a drifter/couch surfer so rather than give her an apartment right off, I'd like for her to bum off other people as a CR hook. (She's also not above casual hook-ups/sleeping with someone to sleep somewhere scenarios if people want to say that's happening too). Besides, getting an apartment of her own will make all this feel real and that's scary so no thanks.

❥ To do with March more specifically, Rosie will be checking out all the stuff during the Equinox since religion/worship and music tend to go hand-in-hand and she'll want to see what tunes she might be able to learn or pen herself. Spring is her favorite season, actually, and the symbolism of 'new beginnings' after a long winter hit home for her especially now.

❥ Rosie's competitive so will absolutely be about crushing competition in the Fae Olympics. She'll probably land on Team Seelie but also will cheerlead people and likely cause problems on purpose by fraternizing with the enemy. Of most interest for her will be the dance competition and she can heal as well if anyone gets hurt!

Kni is Vash's (kid) twin brother, physically aged two (2) years old, but looks between 10-11 years old. He's been around in game for about 8 months now and can usually be found either trailing after Vash, forced into attending school, or happily at home at the cottage! Kni is a Plant, like Vash, and is not human, thus his visible age discrepancy. He's incredibly book smart and absolutely loves playing the piano. He's also extremely sassy and does not share Vash's love for social interaction. It's a work in progress.

So, I have (finally) put in for Kni's gradual monster, and I'm looking to play around with it this month!

Kni will (accidentally) find out that he can teleport, probably by sneezing too hard or something, and end up in various places he's visited previously throughout the month as he tries to wrangle this newfound ability. The time of day (or night, any time before midnight) is negotiable depending on comedic value.
