kaisouooc | Black Order Update (New Mechanic)

Hello everyone! Just a quick announcement for any Black Order characters either in the game currently or considering apping.

Since a good number of the Black Order characters has had time to establish itself within Kaisou, we've decided it was time to begin taking steps to make sure the Black Order remains the most morally questionable of the three major factions (yes, more than Zodiac congrats guys!).

So starting in June (since we promised May would be a chill month plot wise), the following things will begin to happen:

1) Black Order Monthly Mission Objectives will become harsher/more ruthless. Basically, expect to get orders that strongly recommend things like murder, theft, spying- the fun stuff! Characters are welcome to try to fulfill the orders using less harsh methods if possible (as the Black Order mostly cares about getting a job done one way or another) BUT-

2) Openly Defying the Black Order will result in a removal of a regain or something of equivalence chosen by the mods. ICly this will be justified as the Black Order using a weakened version of their sealing spell. Once the regain is removed, it will be unregainable for 3 months, though possibly longer if the character continues to be defiant. Should there not be a suitable regain to be removed, the mods will choose something of an equivalent (like a sense, a skill, an important memory, etc). The regain choice will be decided based on the severity of the character's defiance.

This penalty will be targeted only towards Black Order characters that actively refuse to do a mission or does defiant act like make a post that spills Black Order secrets. It will not target Black Order characters who are around less due to their players being busy, as we can handwave them patrolling the city or doing something in the background (though if we notice a Black Order player CONSISTENTLY taking this option and suspect they're doing it as a way to exploit a loophole - this might change).

Now, we're aware that these are some pretty strict penalties! We're doing this because again, we want to make sure to maintain the Black Order's morally gray standing as a faction.

However, we totally understand if some of you would not like to play with this mechanic. So, if you rather opt out of this completely but still continue playing your character, we will be offering a limited time option for players to transfer their Black Order character to a different AU status (Normal, Paranormal, or POKEGO). ICly, this would be done by giving them a special mission in May that would result their AU history being rewritten. They would keep their regains, but their memories of being part of the Black Order would become extremely hazy (or lost completely), while the heads at the Black Order will forget they were ever a member entirely (other player character memories may or may not stick depending on what works better). If you are interested in taking this opt-out option, please contact the mods by May 21st (so one month as of this posting!) by commenting to this post or the discord server.

Again, this isn't going to start being a thing until June (May will be chill), but we felt it was fair to give you guys ample warning since it's a pretty notable change!

Finally, if you want to play with this mechanic but have your character eventually leave the Order as part of their own character arc, that will be a possibility at a future time! So keep your eyes peeled for this.
