Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for April!
OOC Housekeeping
- The Zodiac Network Post will go up April 1st, with a midmonth post going up April 15th. The game wide event log & it's counterparts will go up April 4th. There will also be an optional network post on April 3rd where a character gives a heads up about stuff going down.
- If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month. For those who participated in the Gacha Goodwill this weekend, please make sure to include your purchases/donations on the AC form if they cost/gave you points!
- Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord for current players! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!
World Changes
- There is a third goose in Blue Lake Fish Park. It is just as terrible as the others.
Side quests
New Side Quests have been added for the month of April! Go ahead and sign up! If you haven't turned in quests for March gacha points, you can still do so until the end of the month! However, signing up for any March quests is now closed.
New Feature: Gacha Goodwill
Last weekend, the mods opened up the Gacha Goodwill. The Gacha Goodwill is full of previously owned gacha/regain items that players have the option of buying from. Alternatively if you want to lighten your regain loads for more points, you can donate items to the Gacha goodwill and get an additional Regain point for every two things you donate.
The Gacha Goodwill will be open every Sunday and will regularly refresh it's stock, so keep your eyes peeled for great steals! You can read more about it on its post.
Town Events
Spring has fully sprung in Kaisou! Characters will get to enjoy lovely spring weather with the occasional spring shower. Best take the chance to enjoy the warm weather now that winter is over! Meanwhile the schools will be busy with all the typical springtime stuff that happens around this time. Prom and other end-of-year activities will be taking place next month in May, so look out for that!
Otherwise the town itself will be pretty quiet this month due to the main event being pretty heavy, with the only thing worth of note that Undertown will be cleared out temporarily due to increase security from Zodiac. If you need access to any Undertown businesses, they will be holed up in the Void Denny's until things settle down.
Plot Recap
April's main event will be the conclusion of a plot that's going on in the backburner (and the front burner) since December-January. So before we get into that, let me give a quick plot recap so everyone is on the same page.
LAST TIME ON
In December, people started experiencing monster changes Unbeknownst to everyone, the board of Zodiac were also affected and became demons.
In January, characters were asked to help with the Chinese Zodiac Race. One of the reward options was a peach that granted immortality (with string attached).
Zodiac offered $40k for a peach. Moxxie, desparate for cash, took them up on it. Eventually this came to ligth and many people were Mad at Moxxie.
Varian tried to do science on his peach. It blew up his apartment. Zodiac offered to rebuild his apartment in exchange for helping them research the peach Moxxie gave.
The Black Order, a shadowy organization in their own right but not capitalists, showed up on the app in January.
Over the course of a few months, Zodiac began to act more extreme and out of character. Demons man.
Varian in March revealed that the board of Zodiac were demons and they were planning to use the peach to obtain immortality. They also attempted to grow more peaches, but Varian sabotaged this.
Wanting to stop Zodiac before everyone got saddled with immortal demon capitalists, the Black Order requested a special device that'd help them infiltrate Zodiac. However the device requires four volunteers to be used for unknown reasons. Many people volunteered, and the four selected were Jusis Albarea, Waver Velvet, Takame, and "Shroud" (Jun Nightroad).
Zhongli, a member of the Black Order, showed up to check to make sure the request was legitimate. Zhongli approved the use the device and told the volunteers it'd be dangerous and to prepare for when they turn it on in April.
He then blew 16k of the Black Order's money on a cello. This isn't plot relevant it's just funny.
Gate Event: MetaVerse
As many of you already knew, this month's event will be based on Persona 4 & 5! Because we're running two canons at the same time, there will be two components.
The first part will be what happened to the volunteers. As it turns out, instead of being sent on a super cool mission, the four volunteers will actually be sucked into the persona shadow realm and be trapped in their own Persona 4-style dungeons where they are confronted with truly the worse thing imaginable: their own inner thoughts. And if that wasn't bad enough, something went awry during the activation of the device and instead of Jun being sent in -- Danny Fenton will be sent to face it instead.
This means that Jusis, Waver, Takame, and Danny will each get their own personal logs devoted to their own particular dungeons. Characters will have option of going into their dungeons and facing the challenges in hopes of recovering their fellow friend/colleague/dude I just met before they get killed by their own inner shadows. There's no limit to how many dungeons your characters can visit, though do keep in mind some of them will be coming with their own share of trigger warnings.
MEANWHILE the main event log will be focusing on a Persona 5-style Palace for our beloved company Zodiac. Characters will be expected to don their own phantom thieves outfits (yes, you get to dress up your character), make up a code name, and infilitrate an exagerrated version of the company. The main objective of this palace will be to snatch the immortal peach before the Zodiac boards can use it to gain immortality - though they can also do other stuff to stick it to the rich. Characters will be expected to sneak around, fight some monsters, and maybe do a bit of crime in order to save the day.
Due to Zodiac's lack of trust in the Black Order (and to keep TBO characters from taking all the glory), Black Order Characters will not be allowed to infilitrate the Zodiac palace until after the peach is removed. Basically, it's up to the normal app users (and the 2 pokego characters we have) to save the day!
As you can tell, there's a lot going on in this plot. But don't worry! Just take your time, do what you can, and steal some hearts along the way.

I imagine some of the app users are going to try to contact Danny, Takame, Jusis, or Waver on their phones. What's that going to look like for them? Do their names in the app look offline or corrupted? Does the call flat out not connect or does it connect to that phone system where it's like, "your call couldn't be connected?"

Speaking of, anyone who has the Midnight Channel TV gacha item will also see these recordings pop up on their televisions whenever it rains in Kaisou (which will be happening pretty regularly because it's April)!

With access to the Zodiac HQ, would Ryoko have any opportunity to pick up files (paper or digital) or otherwise have a nose around the computer systems in a way that could further her eventual goal of messing around with the app as discussed?

The answer is yes: in another area of the records floor, Ryoko should be able to find a file that contains information about the spell that Zodiac uses in other to encrypt the data in the Libra app! It's a pretty dense document and a number key components have been blotted out, so she's going to need time and help from people who have studied magic and/or tech to work out how to replicate it (aka a couple months at least)
However once she takes the file, she better hope she has protection, as the Reaper and several guards will immediately show up to attack her.

Also, while he does intend to kill all of them, there's definitely a chance some of them could escape, since I'm figuring the gun probably only holds about five rounds, so he'd definitely have to reload at least once to kill them all which would give them a chance to flee.

However, should he do this? It will very much backfire on him shortly after. The board members are very familar with the demon that sold them a peach and about the gun. So seeing that their associate just got one-shotted, a couple of the demons will proceed to jump him before he can get another shot. Since they are much bigger demons than him, they will disarm him and shoot him with his own gun.
Probably not the greatest idea to bring a gun you're weak to, Moxxie!
If you want to go through with this, please fill out the death permission form. Since based on the power of the gun, there'd be no body left, possession is not an option.
After he revives, he'll have to regain all his previous lost regains. Also Zodiac will be completely unwilling to do any business with him in the future, so he'd be on his own if he needs any help.
I know this route has some serious consequences, so you are free to decide to forgo this way. However since Moxxie got light on the consequences with the peach, we decided it was fair to go harder on the consequences this time.

Amal is going to kill a board member on accident either right as he's about to beg for mercy or like right before.

Noted! Amal will kill the board member! In response as we discussed, the remaining board members will respond by shooting at Amal with the demon-killing gun Moxxie was so nice of them to provide. It will hit Dushan, destroying the voidsent instantly and rendering it unsummonable for 1 month.
On top of that, the palace's security level will permanently stuck on max for Amal. Good luck with escaping because about everything is going be thrown at him on his way out. Hope you can run fast because the Reaper is going to be on your tail the whole way down.
And of course, Zodiac will be a lot less willing to provide Amal with any aid in the future because what the hell man.

EDIT: SOMEHOW I COMPLETELY MISSED THE MIDDLE PARAGRAPH ON THE POST ITSELF WOW, ok better question, how long would it realistically take someone to Find Their File, and how much faster would they get attacked while attempting to do so?

As per what the post says, if they are just looking at the files they got 30 minutes before the Reaper shows up. If they attempt to steal or destroy the files, the reaction is pretty instanteously and they got maybe a minute before velociraptors start rushing in.
