February Plotting & CR Post

Hello everyone! It's time for the announcement and plotting post for February!

OOC Housekeeping

• The Zodiac Network Post will go up February 1st, with a midmonth post going up February 15th. The game wide event log will go up February 4th.
• If you haven't already, please remember to check in for activity! Activity is due by the end of the month.
• Just a reminder for anyone who hasn't joined yet, but we have a game discord for current players! It's completely optional to join, but come in and say hi!

World Changes

• Bulbasaurs are now native to Kaisou!
• Persephone's Cottage now resides in town.
• Cthonic Companions can now be bought in stores
• Spelldrive is now a popular sport!
• Tanaka's Amazing Commodities now airs every Sunday morning.
• Nyan Cat can be seen flying across the sky on the night of the new moon.

Side quests
New Side Quests have been added for the month of February! Go ahead and sign up! If you haven't turned in quests for January gacha points, you can still do so until the end of the month! However, signing up for any January quests is now closed.

Town Events
The coldest part of winter is over. While there's still another month left of the season, the fire element in the air will make the temperatures much more bearable. Still cold enough to cuddle up with your valentine under the blankets though.

Speaking of Valentine's, leading up to the holidays characters can get valentine's cards with written confessions of feelings from other characters in their mail, done in their handwriting despite them having know memory of ever writing such a card (thanks Cupid). These confessions can be truthful or fictitious, and share more feelings than just romantic ones! Of course, please make sure you have player permission before you plan out the arrival of a valentine day card.

Gate Event: The Constant
This month's spirit realm will be based on Don't Starve, the survival horror game. Participating characters will find themselves trapped in the Don't Starve world for an IC week (though for people within the realm it'll feel like 2 weeks), where they must fend for themselves and not try to get killed by the many many dangerous things that reside there. Should a character perish in this world, they will turn into a ghost and get resurrected the next day within the realm- with no long term penalties. You can even die multiple times if you want!

And if things weren't difficult enough, Fern's demonic patron the Grass Demon will be taking the chance to possess other people while they are stuck within the Don't Starve world, causing them to grow plant stuff on their body and also become much more violent! Because things just weren't bad enough!

Black Order Characters will be privately receiving orders to neutralize the Grass Demon threat. How they choose to go about this mission is up to them. Though anyone, Black Order or otherwise, who decide to resolve this by killing Fern should plot it out with Fern's player Pan beforehand! ETA: If you play a BO member and wish to opt out of the plot, that's okay! We'll just say your character is patrolling the city or something.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS HORROR IN NATURE. This means there's going to be a lot of horror-tropes present throughout the plot (like spiders) as well as a lot of violence and death. If that's not your cup of tea, feel free to sit this plot out. Also due to the very high mortality rate this plot potentially has, characters who are 13 and younger will not be allowed to participate in this Spirit Realm, while characters who are 14-15 years of age will still require a chaperone.

Members of the Black Order! Come hither to this thread so that we may plot how to handle this mission! If you need to handwave because you're opting out of the event, let us know, too. No shame whatsoever, it'd just be good to know what you're doing in the background!

Jusis is not advocating for the murder of Fern, of course. He's also going to warn members that killing off a Libra app person is going to make life Difficult not just from the users, but also because he will most likely try to find a way to prosecute you for it and he'd RATHER NOT. That's some paperwork he has to file with the Order. Jusis has no healing skills at the moment. He knows a healer, but, uh, that won't be helpful here.

THAT SAID, if anyone wants to Murder, OOCly I'm not gonna stop 'em! Just figured I'd let y'all know how Jusis will handle that ICly.

Yeah mod just to note as a mod - if you play a Black Order member and want to opt out of the plot, that's totally fine! We can just say they agreed to patrol the city while the other crazy shit is going down.

Anyway, as a player Velvet will think Jusis is LAME for being so anti-murder (that's not how we did things in FLORIDA) but she won't argue too much because she doesn't care all that much. Mostly she'll just be there, daemon claw in hand, ready to actually jump in and fight/kill any possessions that need to be taken down if necessary.

Event Plans: I'm totally down for some Valentine's card shenanigans, hit me up and let me know what you wanna do and we can have some messages bouncing around! He'll end up being dragged into the spirt realm and probably have a really bad time trying to Not Die. There's a good chance he'll get possessed by the boyfriend's demon for a little while, too- though I'm still trying to decide how he'll get himself cured on that one.
Anything else? Following the apartment explosion, Varian will start working for (and working out how to internally sabotage) Zodiac in February. He'll not be speaking about this openly but he won't be around as often as he usually is after school this month. He'll be very evasive if anyone asks him about it, but his being around less is something his CR is welcome to notice! There'll be a post about that entire plotline at the end of March.

Last month he accidentally came into contact with peach vapor, and is now tied to the spirit realm and aging very slowly. Danny has not yet realized this.

Event Plans:
For the Valentine's Plot Danny's going to get in increase in mysterious voicemails/texts from the ghostly secret admirer he picked up in last month's sidequest. And no, he's not telling anyone how that happened.

Danny would have really liked to have slacked off for this month. Because last month was pretty rough and he could really use a vacation. Unfortunately he has friends that are headed into the spirit realm, so he's going to have to follow them in. At least he's starting out as a ghost?

As always open to sidequests. I'm most interested in Loot Boxes, DumbleDaer-You (Danny wants that book on astronomy), and Jump Scared.

Event Plans: Open to doing any Valentines stuff, though I'll mainly be focusing on the Don't Starve event for the Grass Demon plot.

Anyone who is possessed is free to recognize said possession is coming from him, or that he at least seems incredibly familiar! Fern probably won't be very much help in getting rid of other people's possessions since he's trying to repress that side of himself (and anyway, Grass Demon thinks he's improving everyone). I fully welcome confrontations though, peaceful/violent/whatever, since he needs to deal with this nonsense and not just repress it. I'm also open to plotting solving the possession problem with killing Fern.

He'll be available to help fight monsters and gather supplies, and otherwise generally try to keep people alive.

About: A woman who had a completely normal life up until her brother-in-law murdered her brother and she reawakened to her past memories which also turned her into a daemon and got recruited by the Black Order. She's been working in Florida since then until very recently. Thanks to all her trauma, she tends to be hostile to push people away and is something of a loose cannon. Also has the ability to eat people with her claw, but she basically only does it if she has to (not that she'll mention this bit, this bit). If you manage to get close to her, she's actually nowhere near as bad as she paints herself as.
Event Plans: Velvet will be following her mission order and head into the realm in order to help deal with the problem. Unfortunately she's probably going to struggle wit the sanity aspect more because well....uh...she wasn't that sane to begin with. Still, since her colleagues are insisting on no murder she'll probably try to hold back. Probably.
Anything else? Velvet is too new to really take part in the Valentine's Day cards, but here a valentine for you all:

About: A child who got raised by a shady as fuck cult (Krusnik) but managed to escape thanks to his adopted father. Since then he's tried (and failed) to live a normal life and is now a huge anime nerd that goes to college as an art major and works at a coffee shop. He also has holy powers from God, but he reaaaally doesn't like to share this info. Also can turn into a wolf thanks to Gacha.
Event Plans: Jun will be taking part in the event! His survival skills are pretty decent and he can summon light magic- so not a bad person to have around. I'm open to him participating in the Valentine's Day event, but like. None of you are stupid enough to be his type so.

Some of his past life found family members are in the Black Order as he's discovering, so sorry about his ride-or-die loyalty to them. It just how Class VII rolls.
Event Plans: Because I don't want to balance three characters in the event and Elliot is not one for survival stuff, Elliot will be sitting this one out! He's rooting for you guys though, don't die. Otherwise he'll be around town and is open for Valentine's day confessions if you're into twink music nerds I guess.

Event Plans: I'm 50/50 on including Takame in the event for now, but if he does come in he's an expert at completely silencing the inner insanity that comes with his life and is a tank on top of that so he'll be a decent ally.

As for Valentine Card shenanigans I'm down for some ridiculous as fuck things being sent out by fake him cause I mean the hot or not things have shown he ain't a sweet summer child. BUT ALSO HE'S KIND OF DATING YUSUKE KITAGAWA NOW SO that's going to be an added confusion point in his poor brain.

About: Wine Tycoon with a slew of ignored emotional problems who recently became aware of the otherworld BS that is in Kaisou. Doesn't tolerate fools and is extremely prickly and grumpy and his mood ain't much better considering the network is Chaos. Still a nice person who values keeping people safe and will be chill as long as you don't come at him stupid.
Event Plans: Diluc is 100% going to be involved in this event, he just got his sword back so ya boi is ready to play super hero defender but like in a COOL way. May be a little reckless but he has fire manipulation for free so with him you don't have to worry about running out of it. He'll be focused on survival and more than willing to share the fire.

In terms of Valentines things I mean he just got here and won't pay much mind to cards he gets especially considering his name is well known and he probably has something of a mini following even though he's kept things low key and away from his Winery-ing.

Extremely sarcastic, kind of a brat, but good at looking after plants and healing wounds that are really bad. Also, she sometimes gets possessed by a demon to be better at fighting. It's fine!

Event Plans: Rose is going to be participating in the event! Inwardly, she's probably not as strong as the other Warriors of Light, but she's gotten a bit better through her travels. Expect lots of anger and second-guessing herself. She doesn't like horror elements, so she's going to be having a very good time. At least, she can point out what plants are safe to eat and what aren't. (Is that a thing in Don't Starve. I haven't played Don't Starve).

Also, please send her valentine's day cards! Or, if you want her to have (fake?) sent you a card, let me know, and I can make it happen. The last thing Rose wants is for other people to realize that she has feelings.

Event Plans: I think Souta will be sitting out of the death loop event, so no chaperone need for him. Valentine's is fair game though! While romantic interest will go straight over his head, he will be giving CR friendship chocolate. Feel free to plot out possible cards as well!
Anything else? Possible side quests for this month are Wreathing Havoc and Apple to Pomegranates. Let me know if you'd like to team up!

About: Eve is an ex-bioweapon experiment who got rescued by a group of sweepers (aka bounty hunters). She traveled with them and helped capture criminals in hopes of becoming a sweeper herself. Being isolated and trained to kill for so long, she can seem a little odd, yet Eve is quite curious about the world around her. Usually she's pretty quiet, but she can have quite the competitive streak.
Event Plans: She's too young to go into the spirit realm this month, which will be frustrating for Eve since January gave her the impression it was a good way to make money. So she will be focusing on side quests instead! Eve will also be open to Valentine's cards, though she'll have no idea what's up since the holiday will be very new to her.
Anything else? Want a partner for side quests? This girl wants bounty hunter practice. Also open for fight club training.

Event Plans: Amal's day job is fighting monsters and killing gods, so you bet he'll be thriving, if only because he's missing the entire point of everything. As a reaper he's suited to fighting demons especially so he'll be around if people are going to fight Fern, though I think he'll try to hold back as much as he can. Wind is his element, though, so he'll feel like shit the whole time and not be able to cheat with his windy powers like usual.

About: Zero is an escaped Amano character with a classy hat and lots of leather. In this AU she also happens to be a lab experiment, though you'd never-- no it's pretty obvious actually. She's a total social failure and a huge dweeb who, once you worm past her defenses, makes a solid ally. However, she's never had a friend in her life so please help her clueless ass while she adjusts to city life for the first time.
Event Plans: Zero is 100% available for love notes, either giving or receiving. As for everything else: I'm playing with the idea of having her fail in the Constant as a vehicle to start remembering other things. She can definitely handle herself against some monsters, but not all, and the possession aspect is just delicious irony.

About: A goth career artist of some repute with both an insomnia and a demonic possession problem. He's not really sure what's happening to him yet, or why something called The Dreaming keeps cropping up in his nightmares.

Learning that there's a more active supernatural underbelly to the city than he thought and sprouting glowing eyes and the ability to talk to ravens knocked him for a serious loop, and he's been doing his best to lay low.

Event Plans: Given as he's only met one character face to face in-game so far, Valentine's cards seem a moot point - but if anyone thinks of a way to make it work, I'd love to participate!

Otherwise, he's absolutely getting thrown into the event, because he can't hide forever. He's not going to be great at survival, so if someone wants to help an emotionally stilted, confused man, I'm very open to that! One of the conditions of his possession is that he must spend three hours every three days creating art of what he sees in his nightmares or Naberius will take him, so... he's going to need safe sleep and to be protected while he creates sculpture out of found objects.

I'm very, very, very comfortable with horror concepts (and holy moly I LOVE Don't Starve) so if you have something dark you wanna do? I'm your guy!!

Basically please help me get this guy in the mix, I've been busy but I'm down to clown.
