Welcome to the January Handwaved CR & AU workshop for Kaisou! We're super excited to have you! These posts are to help encourage old and new players to make new connections and find potential CR while designing your AU or figuring out what your OU character has been up to. If you're brand news, you can check out FAQ page and the app page to get a sense of what's going on!

If you're a player looking to app a new character:
Apps are always open for submission and get done the first and third weekends of the month. So once you got a clear idea of what you want, feel free to hop over to the application page! If you're already in the game, feel free to comment to this post as well to make new CR!

A reminder that in order to app either a Black Order or POKEGO AU you are required to have been in the game at least 3 months with another character. If you are rejoining the game after being gone awhile, you can count your past stint towards your 3 months, but it's recommended you look over the plot recap to see what you missed.

You can use this post to comment with your character and established some handwaved CR or just come up with different ways for characters to meet!

Character Name: Belle (AU name: Belle Weil)
Canon: Zenless Zone Zero
Age: 24 (we have No Idea how old she is in canon.)
Type: Paranormal Modern AU

About: Belle is, by day, a video rental store owner, running Random Play which has the honor of being one of the last, if not the last, video rental stores in the city! by night, she's the hacker known as Phaethon, a secret that only her half-brother (kinda, sorta, it's complicated and involves alternate universes) Zelos Wilder knows. (because she helped him fake his identity as her dead brother Zelos Wilder.) she's searching for another brother of hers who disappeared a long time ago when they were young, and is also possessed by an engkanto that makes her, a movie buff and a techie, have to stand outside every two days with her bare feet on the ground for a whole hour. you can imagine how much of a trial this is for her, especially in the winter months.
Typical Activities: Belle runs a video rental store! she's basically famous for it, and has ended up on TV once or twice as a human interest piece. you've probably come to her store to rent a movie or a series. maybe you've even worked there as a promoter or as part of the staff! you've probably also come across her performing her contract price with great annoyance, she can often be found at the park or anywhere with soil. as for her secret identity, Phaethon's well-known as a top hacker and someone who's well aware of the supernatural, as well as someone who's willing to help others out. you've likely come across Phaethon's work if you're also a hacker or just a general techie.

Looking for: uh literally anyone actually wheezes I need to get her out more! the last couple months of 2024 were a little [static noises] for, I think, Everyone.

Starting to think I got the better end of the stick for contract prices, Bellerophon.

Other than her helping Harumasa out after the Krusnik raid, if she has mentioned a brother he would've tried to keep an eye out. She's helped him greatly, so he wants to pay that back in whatever way he possibly can. To be fair, Harumasa doesn't feel as if he'll EVER be able to repay her fully, but every little bit counts, right?

yeah, all you have to do is recite poetry, meanwhile she's standing in the pouring rain with muddy feet having the worst time of her life this week. it sucks. trade prices with her.

Belle would def have mentioned her missing brother to him, yeah! probably years into their friendship she asked him to just keep an eye out, but she doesn't expect much and is just grateful he's kept an eye open. she doesn't really keep track of debts and indeed is helping him now because they're friends and she cares about him despite never having seen his face in person, although she likely jokes that he owes her lots of free shampoo from all the hotel rooms she's grabbed for him.

Hmmm... Nah, I'm good! I'd rather give out cryptic poetry and flirt with death by Artemis than risk getting a cold. You know I'm far too frail for that, Manager!

I think he's been carrying around a little bag full of unopened free shampoo from the hotels JUST for if he ever meets her in real life. He's fully aware it's a joke, but he's playing the long game with this one! All of the expired ones get replaced with new ones, of course. That said, it's safe to say that he'd put his life on the line for Belle and would do almost anything for her considering she's been a big part of his survival.

hello other small business owner! yeah she wishes she didn't need to. she's definitely run into Baizhu and awkwardly been like uhhhh yeah it's uh. it's. the hot new. health. thing. yeah. and then she just winces so hard bc it's blindingly obvious it's not actually for her health, per se, but like, you gotta fulfill the contract price somehow.

she thinks Baizhu's pretty cool tho! nice hair, bruh.

I am still down for Jax having been a thorn in Belle's side with the video rentals. Never returning movies on time. Never rewinding them. Sometimes switching them for something ELSE. (Where did he even GET a copy of a VHS of that obscure 70s movie that maybe 4 people have seen to hide in a Titanic box? Where did Titanic go, Jax? WHERE?). If he's banned, he will still show up and be an obnoxious shitheel by sticking one toe in through the door or laying down on the pavement in front of the window.

Given he's also a hacker in this AU (and maybe in canon, who the hell knows where that's going) he would be aware of Phaetheon's work and is quietly impressed by it, even if he'll never admit it in a million years. He has not connected the dots they're the same person.

WHEEZES. Phaethon probably sees Jax's hacker persona as...well she doesn't really think about his hacker persona much. she's impressed at what he can pull off, probably, but beyond that it's like, oh, huh, yeah that guy exists, I guess. she also has not connected the dots either wheezes.

considering her fiance is a big movie nerd, lapis has absolutely started to become a regular at belle's store. lapis also did an outdoor theatre set-up back in october for jinwoo's birthday, so she probably chatted to belle about how to do this too

also i just think they would get along and lady friends is always good

HELL YEAH!!!! yeah Lapis would be highly appreciated as a regular and Belle is absolutely willing to help her out with how to set up an outdoor theater, she's done that before for events and she wants Lapis to learn from her mistakes. she also likely tells her like, various bits of movie trivia so Lapis can bust it out for Jinwoo to be impressive. ur welcome.
