Welcome to the January Handwaved CR & AU workshop for Kaisou! We're super excited to have you! These posts are to help encourage old and new players to make new connections and find potential CR while designing your AU or figuring out what your OU character has been up to. If you're brand news, you can check out FAQ page and the app page to get a sense of what's going on!
If you're a player looking to app a new character:
Apps are always open for submission and get done the first and third weekends of the month. So once you got a clear idea of what you want, feel free to hop over to the application page! If you're already in the game, feel free to comment to this post as well to make new CR!
A reminder that in order to app either a Black Order or POKEGO AU you are required to have been in the game at least 3 months with another character. If you are rejoining the game after being gone awhile, you can count your past stint towards your 3 months, but it's recommended you look over the plot recap to see what you missed.

Varian (Vasiya) | Tangled | OU
Canon: Tangled
Age: 18 - older than his 16-year-old canon self because he's just been here that damn long. He's 19 in March.
Type: OU! But after experimenting on immortality peaches, he is now slow ageing and permanently tied to Kaisou's spirit vein, so he can't leave the city.
About: An alchemist from the mid 1800s with serious daddy issues and a desperate drive to prove himself. After some magical rocks showed up, he tried to fix the problem, got his dad stuck in a worse magical rock and had a whole-ass villain arc. He committed MANY CRIMES. He spent time in prison, broke out, committed more crimes and eventually had a redemption arc and made good!
In Kaisou he attended high school, woopsie brought dinosaurs into the city when he tried to build a teleportation device to go home and did some questionable experiments on an immortality peach. He started therapy, got adopted, turned into a werewolf, got a boyfriend and honestly is a lot more mentally stable these days, even if he's working on never quite feeling enough or deserving good things- he's a work in progress! He's an awkward bean personality wise, and tends to keep himself to himself, but thanks to all the shit he's been though, and his desire to help people, he's a pretty solid fountain of advice for those who ask!
Typical Activities:
- During the week he lives with his adoptive father, Amal. At the weekends, he lives in the Fortress of Meropide where he spends a lot of time in the forge in the basement and with his boyfriend, Jun.
- He attends Kaisou University, studying chemisty, physics, engineering, robotics and math. He is absolutely that nerd who not only read the required reading but also the supplementary material and always asks the teacher long winded questions that make you late leaving the lesson. He LOVES learning and he will drag everything with him down this road!
- He can sometimes be found in the PICHU facility in Cygnus, where he works as a POKEGO researcher (code name: Larch).
- He sometimes can be found at Blade's forge in Hyrule, because they like building robots together.
- Unsurprisingly, he doesn't have much of a social life because he's too much of an introverted overachiever for that. So you're more likely to find him in those places than you are... literary anywhere people go for fun.
- His awful raccoon, Ruddiger, can be found all around the city. He has likely stolen your food. He's an asshole.
Looking for: Nerds! He loves talking shop, he didn't have any peers in his old world so he's delighted to make the most of it here with people who wanna talk about SCIENCE. Folks living at the fortress, fellow POKEGO members, people who want to commission him for some work! Hell, even poor students who have to deal with him making their Kaisou U classes a living hell because he has zero chill. Varian is awkward and introverted, but if you take time to get to know him, he's pretty friendly.

takame visits amal a lot and even did when amal was NPC so i'm SURE he and varian are very friendly w/ one another. das his bro's sonion.... he also likes perse but he's a bit apprehensive around her since becoming possessed by one of her cousins oops. he wouldn't ever let that show and if a convo just occurs naturally he'd relax more
i NEED to throw dia at zules much more but you know who else is subjected to dia ona fair basis? husk. which speaking of that husk sure got to see diarmuid's fuck room in november. they could talk that out or we could handwave that bit but it's fun when people call dia out especially people who dia called out.
ragna only goes by the fortress for work but he wouldnt dislike varian which is a point in his favor tbh. also please attack grumpus more zulius.
I'm Sorry For Wei Wuxian In General. but also he's unfortunately extremely smart so if varian would want to pick his brain sometimes wwx would be there and welcoming about it.

Oh, absolutely! Varian is glad for anyone who stuck around Amal when he was NPC'd, so he'll be very friendly around Takame! And it's okay, Perse is used to people being awkward and nervous around her - that's just how it goes!
Zules always wants more Dia in his life. And yes omg!! I would love Husk and Dia to have a heart to heart about that fuck room. Dia knows Husk's horrible Alastor bullshit now, so I bet they could have a real good talk about all their nonsense!
Varian's well used to dealing with grouchy assholes too, and unlike THE ZEBRA, he won't actively piss Ragna off, which is a bonus!

Zulius (Bunter) | Centaurworld | Paranormal AU
Canon: Centaurworld
Age: 38 - In canon he's probably in his 50s/60s, maybe he's even immortal, it's impossible to know, the fucker never ages.
Type: Paranormal AU
About: An extremely over the top man who is the most flamboyantly gay person alive. And then he got the app on the phone and turned into a zebrataur and amped his everything up to eleven. His past life is full of war and death and honestly he tries not to think about it. He doesn't like fighting in game and tends towards pacisfism. He gets very stressed out about his loved ones putting themselves in danger.
Personality wise he is equal parts egoistical and honestly the biggest cheerleader in the world! He's EXTRA and LOUD and will aggressively befriend you if you want him to or not.
Typical Activities:
- He owns and runs the Vogue theatre in the entertainment district, and lives in the apartment above it. This is where you're most likely to find him!
- He also likes to spend a lot of free time with his partner Vergil in his shop, so you'll see him trotting around Brick Alley a lot!
- He's the patron for Cygnus Academy so can sometimes be found there, mostly being an irritation and asking stupid questions.
- He's social and can be found around the city! He likes to be where the people are!
Looking for: ANYONE. Zulius is easy mode for CR because he will befriend literally anyone - regardless of how well they cope with the whole centaur thing or not. If you want a job, he will give you one at the Vogue. No experience in the theatre? Doesn't matter! He'll pick you up off the street regardless! If you want an extreme extrovert to drag your introvert into social actions, he's your guy!
Persephone | Stray Gods | OU
Canon: Stray Gods
Age: Infinity. Her current body looks like she's in her early 30s.
Type: OU
About: That Persephone. The Goddess of Spring, the Queen of the Dead. She comes from a world where the Greek Pantheon are known as "Idols". Essentially, they pass their life force into another person and then their memories slowly start to merge with the new life. Think like the Trill in Star Trek, but with GODS. Lots of fun! Her latest life is a chick called Chastity who was a mob wife in the 1950s. Persephone murdered Hades and is not afraid to tell people about that - she was VERY much not okay with being married and has a lot of bad blood with her family for letting that happen. There was a whole musical murder investigation for her dead ex girlfriend before she came here. She came into Kaisou just over a year ago and while she still wants to go back home to her duties.
Personality wise, she's pretty abrupt and stand-offish. She doesn't trust people, and gaining her friendship is difficult. She can be quick to anger and will hold an insult forever.
Typical Activities:
- She lives in a town house with Meredith, so you'll see her there when she goes home for the day.
- She technically owns the Cottage Vash et al. live in, and as a result goes there every morning to keep the plant life flourishing. Do they have more food than they can handle? Too bad!
- Otherwise, you're likely to see her in outdoor places, like walking best boy Cerberus. The doggo is VERY friendly and loves you to throw a ball. Persephone's just tired of it. She wishes he was more ferocious.
- She has a shrine in Cathedral Hill, so she goes there on the daily to gather whatever offerings have been left for her. Thanks!
Looking for: She likes to sit and talk to other gods! You guys are better than her family. She's not very sociable and you have to work hard to get on her good side. She prefers people she can have a quiet conversation with over a drink (alcoholic or otherwise).

Husker (Agapov) | Hazbin Hotel | Ronin AU
Canon: Hazbin Hotel
Age: 63 (plus about 50 more years to his canon life for all his time spent in Hell).
Type: Former Black Order AU, current Ronin AU
About: A grouchy cat-bird demon who was recruited into the Order in his 20s and spent his life working for them as a spy and also raising the younger members as a mentor. One of the kids he looked after was purposefully killed in duty, and Husk fell deep into his alcoholism and gambling problems. He raised Lapis, who he absolutely loves deeply as his daughter. In his past life he was an Overlord of Hell who gambled his soul away to a WORSE Overlord, and ended up being on his leash for decades. He then got forced into being a bartender for a rehab hotel, trying to get souls into Heaven. His AU self feels weird about it.
He left the Order after the rebellion and isn't in the least bit sad to put that behind him. He's content to live in semi-retirement with his family and hope the universe leaves him alone (it won't).
Personality wise, he's grumpy and tries (TRIES) to keep people at arms length, but honestly he's too empathetic to really do that convincingly. He's really good at reading people, and doesn't have a brain-to-mouth filter, so he tends to just... call people out on their mess.
Typical Activities:
- He works in Ghost City as a barkeep and helping run the casino. You can give him your troubles and he'll listen and give advice that's blunt as a sledgehammer.
- He lives with Lapis and Jinwoo, and can be found there plenty.
- He'll frequent all the dive bars in Undertown as he drinks his worries away. Please pick him up if you find him in a gutter and bring him home. He goes to the Golden Saucer to gamble a lot, too.
Looking for:
- If he were left to his own devices, Husk would befriend literally no one, please force your friendship upon him.
- He still talks to past Order members. He doesn't want to go back to the ranks, but he'll still provide dry, snarky advice while pretending he hates all of you.
- I'm hoping in the future to get him sober so he'll definitely need support in that endeavour!

NEW CHARACTER! Jax | The Amazing Digital Circus | Zodiac AU
Canon: The Amazing Digital Circus
Age: 22
Type: Zodiac AU
About: Jax is one of six humans (probably) trapped in a video game- being prevented from leaving by the insane AI that's running it. He's stuck as his dgitial avatar- a giant purple rabbit. Unable to leave, and equally being unable to die, he and his other players have to keep playing the "adventures" the AI dumps on them to keep their minds busy. If they hit their mental breaking point, they turn into many eyed mindless monsters, an irreversible change. As such, they lean on whatever crutch they can to keep themselves sane.
Jax stays sane by being a fucking asshole. He constantly bullies the other players and causes problems on purpose. He's pure chaotic evil and take great delight in making everything WORSE. He's pretty egotistical and obnoxious, no one likes him. We learn that if he's forced into something more mundane where he can't act up, he gets despondent and apathetic, and even starts treating people normally, the cracks in his mental crutch showing. He doesn't like people seeing him have weaknesses and leaning on the asshole crutch is the best way for him to do that. He canonically cannot swear, any attempts bring a
AU Plans:
- He was an obnoxious kid, with that undiagnosed ADHD vibe going on HARD. He was a hacker and liked to mess around with computers and figure out this way into backdoors to cause problems. He was absolutely disruptive in class as a kid.
- When he was 17, he put on a VR headset and while nothing happened, his brain had a full trauma response to it and he regained his digital avatar form. He didn't get his memories to go with it, so it was a largely confusing time!
- Given you can't really live a normal life as a 6'7 purple rabbit man, he ended up interning at Zodiac. Anyone who was in high school the same time as him will note he just vanished one day. Maybe he got sent to a military academy or something? His computer skills meant he was well suited for tech - so he eventually became a part of Zodiac's IT department and tech support.
- His bastard chaotic attitude remained and he spends his days pranking and annoying his coworkers. If they have the audacity to actually ask him to do his job and help them with their tech, he might just steal their mug or set their desk on fire. He's a terror.
- He lives in an apartment which he flat out refuses to let anyone know the address of. If anyone finds it, he moves - he doesn't want you f
- He'll be very unhappy to be on the app, even more so to start getting years worth of horrible memories of being held captive by AM's crazy cousin. He WILL make that everyone's problem.
- He absolutely hates Janet and causes her problems on a nigh constant basis. He definitely keeps adding spice to her coffee.
- The only real difference between AU Jax and his canon self (FOR NOW) is that he's slightly less violent towards other people. Unlike the Digtial World, the real world does not make you impervious to injury, so he won't stab someone in the head with knives or rip their arm straight off. Y...yay.
Looking for: Zodiac coworkers! Victims for his shitty pranks. People who are sick of his bullshit and try to force him into stopping. I cannot stress what a shitheel he is, so I expect plenty of negative CR. He'll likely be less of an asshole to people who just refuse to akcnowledge his nonsense. Eventually, I want him to learn to be a better person through his experiences in Kaisou. His canon is ongoing though and there's a lot of stuff we don't know about him yet, so we'll see how that goes in the future!
