Welcome to the January Handwaved CR & AU workshop for Kaisou! We're super excited to have you! These posts are to help encourage old and new players to make new connections and find potential CR while designing your AU or figuring out what your OU character has been up to. If you're brand news, you can check out FAQ page and the app page to get a sense of what's going on!

If you're a player looking to app a new character:
Apps are always open for submission and get done the first and third weekends of the month. So once you got a clear idea of what you want, feel free to hop over to the application page! If you're already in the game, feel free to comment to this post as well to make new CR!

A reminder that in order to app either a Black Order or POKEGO AU you are required to have been in the game at least 3 months with another character. If you are rejoining the game after being gone awhile, you can count your past stint towards your 3 months, but it's recommended you look over the plot recap to see what you missed.

About: Venti is a very chill, very recently in the grand scheme of things God of Wind and Freedom. Unfortunately for him, the Church of Barbatos is now an officially recognized religious entity! He USED to be Merlin (yes that one, no not the Fate/ one the other one), and then career changed to be Shakespeare (again, not the Fate/ one), and it's currently enjoying life as a VTuber! His handle is HolyHimmel.
Typical Activities: He puts on regular streams for video games and his creative process as he creates new songs for his latest albums. Lately, Venti has been collaborating with budding VTubers and friends, as well as a new Rex Cam wherein viewers can observe the sleeping Zhongli in his small dragon form. Venti also does performances at The Vogue and is part of the gossip ring run by Zulius!

Looking for: I'm always open to Venti knowing someone through either his travels, streams, or other means! He's very much a social butterfly, and currently he's doing whatever it GODDAMN TAKES to fund his wedding to Zhongli because that man is a VERY expensive groom.

I'm figuring we'll handwave archery lessons with Ratio since most of that's just repetitive activity, but he will keep being curious to know more about Venti, since he's started to notice he might be a little more than he seems

also, since Zhongli has taken an interest in a former citizen, Venti is also welcome to drop by the pharmacy anytime just to gossip

Heck yeah!!! Venti just artfully being vague about it as they build trust before he drops some of the deep lore wheezes

EXCELLENT Venti will be so happy to give Baizhu the tea~ He probably goes there to pick up allergy medicine. cats.

Zulius hangs out with Venti EVERY day. Be it in the Vogue or online chatting about the latest gossip going on. Their contact has only increased, with Zulius doing his best to organise what is becoming the biggest wedding know to man or beast!

Given his relationship with Jun and POKEGO, Varian runs into Venti on occasion and is an awkward bean about it. Venti is just SO MUCH and Varian doesn't know how to handle him most of the time. But he does his best!

Husk ACTIVELY AVOIDS Venti, which of course means he probably gets harassed on the regular. Don't let the old cat get away from being actively friendshiped at! He needs it really!

Persephone likely will say hello to Ventu when she sees him. He reminds her a little too much like Pan for her comfort, but she DOES respect him as a fellow god and as such will at least say hello.

HELL YEAH HELL YEAH Venti loves chatting with Zulius and giving him ALL the updates! Pretty much anything Venti hears online, he tells Zulius. I like to think that for Pride advertising for The Vogue this year, he will be inviting Zulius to do a live stream of reading AITA posts!

Varian's such a good bean. Venti probably tries to tone it down a LIIIIIITTLE bit with him since the poor kid seems overwhelmed but it's fine!!

VENTI WILL CHASE HUSK DOWN EVEN IF HE'S SNEEZING A LOT. GET FRIENDS, CAT-MAN.

Whenever Persephone says hello to him, Venti is always genuinely happy to see her and will at least do a little small talk! Like how the cottage is going, how Cerberus is doing, if there's anything interesting that's happened. Never enough to make her uncomfortable or keep her there for longer than she cares for, though.

like the rest of the gods in this world, wriothesley is still super not sure how to handle having a face-to-face relationship with what's essentially a full-powered Archon.
Furina was stressful enough for him to think about before it came out that she wasn't actually a god, knowing venti is a honest-to-god archon makes him nervous at best. especially since he's in control of what's essentially an inescapable prison.

part of him WANTS to get along with the archons, but given the bad taste in his mouth left by the god of geo...

I think Venti gets that and tries to keep his distance for Wrio's comfort, but he's important to Furina and she's one of his friends so he feels a bit like they're in a weird limbo. SO Venti's gonna try his best to do a balancing act and make it less awkward between them! It's a tall af order to get him less awkward with Zhongli but baby steps

Character Name: Dan Heng
Canon: Honkai: Star Rail
Age: 29
Type: POKEGO AU

About: Dan Heng is part of the biology division, archivist division, and is generally a guard for researchers in POKEGO. He has a Bachelor's in Archival Sciences and a Doctorate in Research Biology. He's a very reserved and private man who works as a Biology Professor in Kaisou University part-time. Dan Heng also part-times as a professor at the magical college, too, and is generally one of the people you can go to about Pokemon help! His research is more focused towards magical creature biology, but he can pull other info from the archives when asked. He's the biggest nerd, and very kind once you get past his generally cold demeanor.
Typical Activities: Dan Heng can typically be found on college campus, at Blade's forge, somewhere within the vicinity of March and/or Caleb, or at Blue Fish Lake Park to exercise the menagerie he and his boyfriends have gathered over the course of a year. Yes, even their three catkes that look suspiciously like them.

Looking for: I'm always open to anyone in POKEGO knowing of him or interacting with him at least once due to his position as an archivist/bodyguard while working on his degree! He has a pretty big family, so I'm also open to that... but they will also be related to Zhongli. Which may be a debuff depending on how you look at it.

We haven't actively threaded with these two yet, but Ratio will definitely have started warming up to Dan Heng more in casual interactions when they happen to be around each other - which, in a case like this, probably means actively acknowledging his presence instead of politely ignoring him in that "we're both introverts let's give each other space" way.

LMFAO JKFDLSA Dan Heng will absolutely respond in kind! He might even politely inquire about any ongoing projects Dr. Ratio has and what his progress is.

The dicebot has also decreed with an 8 that Dr. Ratio has definitely born witness to Dan Heng getting the very rare "was startled into transforming into a Havana rabbit" at some point. Complete with angry bunny stomps! :D

Varian sees Dan Heng plenty in POKEGO. While biology is one of the few sciences he's NOT taking he still has a lot of respect and will say hi when they pass in Kaisou U. They'll likely have a lot more to talk about at Blade's forge, which is where Varian spends some downtime- happy to try and bring him into whatever nonsense he and Blade are building at that current time.

Dan Heng is more than happy to be brought into whatever nonsense Varian's doing at the forge! Whether it's a collaborative project with Blade or one of his solo ones, he takes a genuine interest in whatever he's doing. Dan Heng will give advice if asked, but otherwise he will either provide a voice of caution or encouragement depending on the situation!

Since it came up in the discord, I gotta say it again, Jonathan is going headfirst into that course for Magical Bio with Enormous Excitement-

Expect a very dedicated student! Like if you took an over excited newfoundland dog and made it really smart and also able to write! ...And draw!

Character Name: Xie Lian
Canon: Heaven Official's Blessing
Age: 500+
Type: TBO AU

About: Xie Lian is a polite and very kind man who has been with The Order almost since its founding. Up until the rebellion, he took on missions that had the highest chance to die because of his immortality making him unable to die. He's also possessed by a god who frankly doesn't treat him well, but don't worry about that! Xie Lian also has a silk bandage that is semi-sentient that he calls Ruoye. It's a very good if strange dog thing!
Typical Activities: He doesn't have any other job mostly because his terrible luck makes it extremely difficult to keep one. So he just lives off of whatever The Order will give him and whatever scraps he can find on his own. Don't worry about it! Anyway, Xie Lian can be found pretty much anywhere in the city. His luck is always very bad. Please help him.

Looking for: I'm always down for Xie Lian knowing anyone during his travels as a Guardian or just in general! Family will be interesting and can definitely be talked about, so I'm also open to that~ You're also free to absolutely hate him. He's used to that! :D

Despite pretending he doesn't give a single shit about Xie Lian, Husk still contacts him on the regular to check in on him. He's worried about the guy staying with the Order and him getting taken advantage of. He will never admit this in a million years, but he does still touch base once a week or so.

Awwwww, Husk! Xie Lian's always happy to talk to him, even if it's just a check in. He'd ask about how him, Jinwoo, and Lapis are doing, if there's anything he can help them with, etc.

Character Name: Lan Wangji (goes by Lan Zhan to other people for the most part)
Canon: MDZS/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation
Age: 39 by the end of the month, but looks to be in his mid-20s to early-30s
Type: Ronin AU

About: Lan Zhan has been on the run from the old Black Order with Jiang Cheng for decades. He's an extremely quiet introvert who would much rather stay in silence than actually talk. However, he does use his words in this AU so that is an improvement over his canon counterpart! Lan Zhan is infallibly polite, kind, and doesn't tolerate injustice. He doesn't do anything for the sake of reputation. He does it because it's the right thing to do in his mind.
Typical Activities: Generally, Lan Zhan keeps to himself, but he has been composing music under an alias and has picked up giving music lessons again. He's kind of stuck between jobs, but he currently lives with Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng. That being said... his toxic dragon trait is hoarding rabbits so you will definitely be finding him anywhere you can find rabbits (including Pokemon). It's not a problem, he can quit at any time.

Looking for: Friends, rivals (probably one-sided for The Bit), and possibly family members are more than open! He's still new, so he's making... friends? Question mark? How make friend do?

for real though wei wuxian's probably taken lan wangji around his usual haunts in town and introduced him to a bunch of wwx's closer cr and helped his sorry no more than five words at a time ass to actually socialize more

just as a springboard to get wangji poking his head out with maybe slightly less prompting and not throwing him to the wolves known as zulius immediately. honestly he's probably mentioned robin particularly a couple times

lan zhan you deserve friends do not resist the more you resist the more they flock to you you should have learned this lesson with falling in love with wei ying.

Character Name: Nico di Angelo
Canon: Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Age: 22
Type: Zodiac AU

About: He's a gay goth at a data entry job just trying to get through community college with a degree. Nico has zero idea what he wants to do for his actual career, but getting an Associate's should help in theory, right? Anyway, he is a Greek myth nerd with a chip on his shoulder, abandonment issues, and has a grudge against the moon (goddess).
Typical Activities: Nico can be seen around game stores, the Jackdaw doing intern work, and... actually that's about it. He participates in card game leagues to earn extra money (Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, etc), but he tries to keep to himself because why bother with making friends when he's just going to disappoint them in the future. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Looking for: Friends, rivals, family, and negative CR are all fair game for this guy! Nico can make it tough to like him and that's on purpose. Come bother him. He doesn't bite ~~hard~~!

Given these two idiots are the same age and have likely been in Zodiac for around the same amount of time, I expect they're well-used to each other by now. Jax, of course, consistently pesters Nico with his bitch-ass pranks and generally being an obnoxious pain in the ass. Despite that, he probably appreciates how hard Nico makes it to like him- he's very 🤝 about that and might get the tiniest bit of respect for it. Not that it would stop him from being a jackass, of course!

Character Name: Harumasa Asaba (canon has it in Eastern order)
Canon: Zenless Zone Zero
Age: 25 (unknown in canon, but probably between 18-21 by my guess)
Type: Paranormal AU

About: Harumasa is a dude who very much acts and sounds like nothing bothers him in the slightest. He's very carefree, and he sounds like he's faking it when he starts going on about how sick and frail he is. Please let him go home early, manager~! Generally, he takes the good with the bad and tries to give more attention to the good. However, Haurmasa does have a chronic and terminal illness, so. That very much colors his perspective on the world. He's also highly protective of people when they're in danger, but don't worry about it!

AU Plans: He's going to be one of the Krusnik survivors, so his background will retain the child experimentation and unethical use of medical science factors. Harumasa will be possessed by Apollo, which will allow for him to live in Kaisou despite it slowly killing him because Krusnik's experiments made his body dependent on being around high concentrations of spiritual/magical energy. He also has Cassandra-level fortune telling, but his contract price demands that he give out his prophecies to people in cryptic rhyming couplets! Oh, and Harumasa is part of Noctis's D&D group as their Ranger because honestly that's just hilarious.

Looking for: After being rescued from Krusnik by Ragna, Harumasa has been going across Europe and America to basically try to figure out how the fuck people live normally. Or mostly normally. So I'm down for him having other friends/acquaintances! Blood family is going to be a no-go for Harumasa because it's unfortunately going to be really broken CR that way, but anything else I'm down to plan out!

Sup, bestie (who we are not acknowledging as the bestie). Lia is going to be excited to spend time with him that isn't just in her car.
